A few weeks ago, I noticed that our heat pump didn’t seem like it was putting out any heat. I gave Robben & Sons Heating a call. They had set me up with an appointment for one of the technicians to come out. My heat pump was at least 15 years old and I had an idea that it had probably reached the end of its life expectancy.
The technician, Josh arrived on time. I might add, I did reschedule from my original appointment. When I did reschedule, the staff, particularly Mary Jo at Robben & Sons were very professional, accommodating and was able to set me up with another appointment within a week. Josh ran some diagnostics and gave me the news that I was hoping not to hear….no refrigerant and weak heat strips. Josh recommended replacement and I agreed. He offered to have a project consultant to come out and give me an estimate. Fortunately, the consultant had an opening later in the day.
The consultant, whose name is Roz, arrived and looked over my situation. Roz asked some questions regarding our heating and cooling patterns of my wife and me. We were limited to options as we live in a manufactured home. Roz worked out a solution which included increasing the size of my unit to a Bosch 3-ton condenser from a 2-ton. I agreed with this as I always thought the 2-ton was undersized for this size house and the number of windows we have. I sold HVAC many, many years ago, so I have a little knowledge of the products. I was happy with the product and felt the price was within the reasonable limits. Sold!
So, I was set up for installation within a reasonable time. Matt and Anthony showed up on time and worked the entire day installing my new system. During the installation, Matt answered the questions that I had and provided valuable training on my new thermostat. The thermostat is very cool. It is a Bryant Housewise with wi-fi. Away from the house, I can check the current temperature and increase the heat or turn on the cooling side. It gives me a weather forecast as well as other options. The install team finished up and cleaned up leaving the area spotless.
There are a lot of HVAC companies and they all have different prices, higher and lower from what I paid. Bottom line is the office and management staff is professional and customer oriented. The techs, sales staff and install team are professional and customer oriented. They sell a quality product with a service staff that backs it up. As you can see, I was happy with the process and would recommend Robben & Sons to anyone.

I COULDN'T HAVE ASKED FOR A BETTER EXPERIENCE
My old heating system (furnace and water heater) failed in January. I called Robben & Sons and connected with Colin. The next day he was on-site, provided an inspection and simple parts and labor quote. I say simple because his product overview was professional, clear and concise. No guesswork. R&S offered high quality product at competitive prices. The deciding factor was they could complete installation that week. No other company had the quality/price I wanted and most were a week out or more from potential install. I'm very thankful to have worked with the team at R&S, Colin and the install crew - very well done!

I contacted Robben and Sons for maintenance of my boiler. They serviced the boiler (which I paid $259 for) but recommended I replace it because it was at the end of its service life. I agreed and was told I would receive a quote for replacement, but never did. I called and emailed and did not receive a response but chalked it up to them likely being overwhelmed during the winter storm. A month ago the boiler finally broke so I reached out again for the quote and to get on their schedule. They came out to provide a temporary fix (which I paid $586 for) and the temporary fix failed after a few days. They said they would be able to install the new boiler mid-July and that they would send a quote. I have called the past three weeks requesting the quote and they keep assuring me I'll receive it soon, but as we near mid-July I'm increasingly skeptical of their follow through and really frustrated with the lack of accountability. At this point, without even a quote, I'm assuming they won't be installing anything within the timeline I was told. I've reached out to another HVAC contractor but, given the long lead time, I'm looking at a minimum of another month without hot water. I'm VERY unimpressed with Robben and Sons' lack of responsiveness and would've appreciated transparency if they do not have capacity to do the work so that I could've gotten another contractor on board sooner. After spending nearly $900 on maintenance and repairs that were ineffective, I thought I would've at least received far better responsiveness to help me get my hot water going.

UPDATE: Another two weeks have passed and I still have received no follow-up from Robben and Sons. No quote. No reschedule. No response whatsoever.

My elderly father who we had to move in with to take of used this company all the time so we felt they could be trusted. They came out for a standard tune up on his oil furnace before turning on for the winter. 5 hours later and one not really needed part change we got charged $1,500. Totally outrageous fee and time took for a regular check up. To top it off the pipe they added is bent and leaks and the furnace wasn't even coming on the next day. Called them to come back and fix. A different Tech showed up a couple days later and replaced a part to get it working again but didn't bother fixing the leak. Don't know how they get all 5 star ratings because this was the least professional repair company we have ever used and feel they took advantage of my father who is in the beginning stages of dementia. Now we still have to find away to stop the constant leak.

Robben & Sons are very easy to work with. They are honest, thoughtful, prompt, and efficient. Our furnace went out earlier this year, they were very responsive to our needs and quickly got us back up and running. Their service people are very nice as is their staff. I highly recommend them.

A/C failed after last heat wave. Luckily got a service call within 3-4 days.now Could not be repaired. Tom came out, gave us a quote and proposed install date by end of day. Installed August 10 and it is fabulous. House stays cool and very quite. Staff, installers and repair personnel are GREAT!
Now under annual maintenance contract for A/C, furnace and water heater

We had our furnace replaced and added central air to our home. Five-star experience from the salesperson (Colin); to the office staff; to the installation team. Colin provided four different price/equipment options, sized the equipment to meet the needs of our home, and worked with us on our final choice. They helped arrange zero-interest financing. The installation team showed up right on time and the installation was efficient, neat and unintrusive. After the installation was completed, Anthony walked us through the system and helped program the new thermostat. We also received a follow-up call from the office. All in all, a great experience.

Every step of the way and every employee I talked to it was a great experience. Old AC needed updating and they were upfront with me about maintenance costs and bang-for-the-buck for each price point in my options. When there was a delay in getting my unit they found a way to get a slightly better one on time and at the same price point. Can't say enough nice things about the installers, let me ask questions and were just genuinely nice people. Left the work area just as they found it and the new unit has had no problem keeping the house cool on the last few hot days we've had here. This will be my cooling and heating company as long as I live here if they maintain the excellence in service I've seen so far.

Update: They reached out to resolve the situation. The company sent an electrician to repair the breaker and made another repair to our thermostat at no cost to us under a warranty claim. We are satisfied with the resolution and will continue to have them service our HVAC system.

Original Review: We had Robben and Sons install a heat pump to go with the existing air handler in our house shortly after moving in. Not long after install, we had to have a technician come out because the heat pump tripped the breaker and we were unable to reset it. This past fall, we scheduled yearly maintenance after the breaker tripped again. The technician let us know the circuit was faulty and he would not be able to perform the tune up until the breaker was repaired or replaced. We were still charged for the visit, and when we reached out to indicate that we expected them to fix the problem caused by their sub-contractor in installation, they said they'd look into it and put our payment toward the actual tune up once the situation had been resolved. We have not heard back from them since.

The technician was excellent. He fixed something (rather than telling us to replace the whole assembly for a lot more money and a lot more time without heat.) He saved us money, he got our house warm again, and he was a terrific guy. We will be using Robben for all of our maintenance, and when we get around to replacing our boiler, we will use them for that installation as well.
