Where do we start... Right now, it's 8:10 on a Sunday night and Nick from Capital Heat just walked out the door. But really, we should start back a few months, early November.
We called Capital Heat to have them take a look at our old, inefficient boiler. Capital came highly recommended by a friend of ours, who had done business with them for years. We were impressed right from the start. Capital sent Nick out - one of their extremely competent technicians. Nick was prompt, knowledgeable, confident, polite (we could go on). Following his diagnosis (and delivery of bad news, we'd need to invest in a brand new unit), Capital sent out Rick, one of the owners. It's not very often these days that a Owner/CEO/President has anything to do directly with customers, let alone make house calls... Needless to say, we were impressed again. Just like Nick, Rick was polite, knowledgeable, and compassionate (understanding of the frustration a homeowner feels when faced with a major expense), but never pushy or condescending. After meeting with Rick, we opted to purchase a high-efficiency Lenox unit from Capital. There was a small issue with installation (a seam that had been improperly sealed), Capital had it fixed with in days. And we realized a significant savings in our first gas bill after only a couple of weeks of utilizing the new unit.
Fast forward a few weeks (to yesterday), we were having some remodeling work done in our kitchen. Upon opening up one of the walls, one of our contractors smelled gas. We took a look downstairs and noted several small leaks in the pipe leading into the unit. One quick call to Capital, and they were back out here at our earliest convenience, this morning. This time the technician was Mike - but it could've been Nick or Rick - Mike too was beyond patient, understanding, knowledgeable, and prompt. He quickly and aptly repaired several small issues (including one we were totally unaware of), no charge and no inconvenience to us.
Earlier this evening, the smell of gas in the wall under construction was still persisting. Again, we made a quick call to Capital's Emergency Line. I spoke with yet ANOTHER exceptionally polite, compassionate, and dedicated employee of Capital, who promptly dispatched Nick back to our house to investigate. (Nick, who showed up within 20 minutes of my phone call, later informed me that I'd been on the phone with Phil, who is the CEO of the company... Is it possible we could be MORE impressed?)
Nick returned, and I'm sure you can figure out the rest... He was just awesome. Within 15 minutes he had the problem diagnosed and corrected (apparently unrelated to the morning's fix, old house, lots of issues). Leaving us with COMPLETE peace of mind and a fully functional system.
Long story short... purchasing a new furnace has got to be one of the most expensive, but least sexy and desirable purchases one unexpectedly makes... Yet living in Buffalo, NY, where we just came out of a week of sub-zero temperatures, an absolutely necessary one. In an industry (and during a season) where I'm sure companies could take full advantage of ignorant and desperate customers, Capital has proven to us time and time again that they are a company to trust 100%.
We could not be more pleased with the people, product, and service we have received from Capital Heat. We look forward to referring absolutely everyone we know their way. And we have no doubt that as we continue to give them our business (which we will) we'll find even more reason to be impressed.
Called capital to have a furnace inspection done, had the furnace installed by capital. I was told that because I live in zone 2, mileage wise, that the service call would be $209. Called Reimer, they charge $87 for the same service. I will NOT recommend capital heat to anyone anymore. I could see a gas surcharge when gas was $4 a gallon, but not now.
Capital Installed new A/C July 2015. 4 summers with no problem. Fifth summer: AC has failed. Capital came 3 times, $700+ in service calls, still leaking refrigerant. Service techs seem to be unable to solve problem after three calls in two months. Installation was fine, but save yourself frustration and go elsewhere for service.
This isnt our first problem with this company. This company is full of crooks and incompetent people than I've ever seen. Are tankless unit stopped working one day and was flashing a code and I was out of town so my wife called and Capital said they'll be out when they could. Four days later they send someone out the guy said the woman my wife talked to should of known what to do and could of save us the 200 plus dollars do to all he had to do was press reset button. This company will take full advantage of anyone they can sink there nails into.
I am very disappointed in the company. Capital heating and cooling installed a central air system. since the first night i realized something wasn't right the A/C literally never shut off, According to the owner RICK it is running correctly if it never shuts off... I am lucky to get a 5 to 7 degree drop from the outside temp. after many service calls with them saying its working fine. I have decided to get some other companies to see what the issue was, each and every company is telling my that the unit is undersized based on the load calculation. After contacting the company all they do is deny that the unit is undersized and that they are correct. This company is unprofessional and have ZERO customer service. I will be contacting the BBB.
I really am very disappointed. I have 2 heating systems in my house (1 for each apartment). The upstairs has baseboard heating and requires a boiler. Downstairs has a furnace. I decided to replace the boiler and furnace, then I heard that with a furnace you can add central air so I did that also. Everything went well until the installation. Upstairs after they got the new boiler installed, they turned on the system to check it. There was a leak in the one line which caused water to damage 2 ceilings in my tenants' apartment. Yes, they fixed the ceilings, not the leak. That line is not in use. Now downstairs they had to come out 3 times to fix gas leaks and some other issues. They failed to tell me when I asked about the central air that their system requires a 220 line, my home is an older home with a 110 line. I did have someone out to "inspect" the home and go over everything with me and he had to determine the crew that was needed for all the work along with an estimated time frame. I called the company when I found out and talked to a "supervisor" and I just informed him about the electric. They sold me a central air unit that I could not use unless the electric was upgraded. I gave them 2 options - remove the central air unit or upgrade the electric. They chose to upgrade the electric for a line to run the central air. I still have a very faint smell of gas. Now I went to use my central air last week. The unit has a leak! All the free-on leaked out and that caused the condenser to burn out!!!! Now I have to wait for them to order the condenser, come back and install that and check for leaks then fill it with free-on so I can use it. I got the central air for medical purposes. Thought it would be easier to have 1 unit instead of several air conditioners in the windows. I am so sorry I went with this company. The supervisor or anyone has yet to contact me to apologize or anything for my inconvenience.
When I had the boiler system put in, I didn't have this problem with "another" company. I had it installed - complete system and a new furnace. I had to have 1 service call - that was it - just 1. They put an electric start on the boiler and I haven't had a problem. I should have called them again.
4/23/18 - The boiler now breaks down after just over a year! How convenient. On the phone when the service call appointment was made, we were told that I would have to pay for a "service call" but parts were "covered." Well, the service guy came out and after some time and having to call someone else "determined" what the problem was and supposedly "fixed" it. That was just about 2 weeks ago. My tenant told me this morning that the boiler still isn't working properly. There is something wrong with it. I paid over $200 for a "service call" and had to call them today about the boiler. Now first of all if the tech would have fixed it correctly in the first place, I wouldn't have had to call them again in the second place. Now in the third place, if they would have given me a reliable unit when they installed it, I shouldn't have any bills for at least 10 years. They charged enough for this boiler and other than a maintenance check every year, there should not be a repair bill. If I wanted a repair bill, I could have kept the old unit and dealt with any repairs that may have come up, later down the road. The old unit was over 15 years old and I only had 1 repair bill the entire time. Today they are refusing to come out since I didn't pay for the part. They said when the part is paid for, they will resume servicing the the boiler. Again, if they would have fixed it correctly - THERE WOULDN'T BE A NEED TO CALL THEM AGAIN TODAY! I will spread the word to everyone I know and tell them NOT TO DEAL WITH CAPITAL HEAT INC. I plan on going to the BBB, and the Attorney General's office and making a formal complaint. Customer service sucks, the tech has no idea what he was doing, they sell garbage and rip you off.
Scheduling was fast and easy. Technician was early and called in advance to let me know. She was friendly, knowledgable and informative. An excellent experience.
I called at 9:30pm last night because our furnace wouldn't turn on. They had a technician here by midnight. The technician, Terry O'neil was very friendly, professional, and courteous. I would highly reccommend him and Capital Heat. Great service!
Extremely satisfied with Amber the technician. Explained what she did, what was found and answered all our questions. Very impressed with her and her knowledge. She is truly an asset to Capital Heat.
