Alvin Hollis

I have used Alvin Hollis for over thirty years as a builder on Boston's South Shore and as a customer at my personal residence. In the course of building over 300 homes, i have never once had a complaint about their product or their service. And from Len Bicknell, the president to the installers and servicemen, i have never had an occasion where i was disappointed. I don't think there is a more professional heating company in Massachusetts.

Their oil service and the electricians they used for our job are the only reason I gave them any stars. Hired them out to do work on our property due to their reviews and our experience with their oil services. It was a large job, over 25k, that we did a Mass Save loan for. Their bid wasn't the cheapest but we figured we should go with quality, you get what you pay for so to speak..... Or not.

They agreed to fix a cracked flange on our toilet as part of the package but they later reneged. First aggravation. Mid job they tried to sell us on replacing our entire ceiling and brought in another professional that quoted us another 3k.

We still have holes in the ceiling where they inserted the cooling/heating units. You can't complete the Spackle work where you drilled all over my ceiling?? It's the finish work of a professional. I can do it myself, but its the point. If you hire someone to do thousands of dollars worth of work you expect quality and attention to detail. The cooling unit in that room barely cools also. Wonder if I asked them to look at it if I would learn I need another couple of thousand to "fix" the problem.

My husband spoke to their manager who acquiesced on the flange and the finish work and we agreed to pay the last few hundred dollars when the job was complete. Well they never came to do the finish work and sent the bill to collection. I paid it, but they lost us as a customer. No thanks Alvin Hollis. Stepping over dollars to pick up dimes.

Alvin Hollis is a very unprofessional company that does not have values. They came to my home and put advertisement on the Oil tank without my permission. They offer to come back and take it off but they are a very shady company that try to skirt the rules. They can not be trusted.

This shady company then decides to lie to everyone in response to my review. The buyer had no right to give permission that is not his house or will it ever be. Point is they did not have permission to advertise and they chose to without permission from the owner.

Sean was great, walked me thru the service contract and showed me everything that was covered. The technician arrived on schedule and showed me everything that the previous service company had failed to do. My furnace is running as if it were brand new. I can now sleep at night knowing if I have a problem that Alvin Hollis will be there to take care of me.

Hollis was chosen years ago on a competitive basis for a boiler installation and given the professionalism displayed in their proposal - we have been a customer since. Recently AH installed a split AC system and the comfort level has never been better and the "crack" tech that installed the system was so neat he even pleased the Mrs.

So grateful to Alvin Hollis! Arrived home to no AC on hottest day of the year. Technician Corey arrived within 1 1/2 hours of call at the end of the day on a Friday and he quickly replaced broken part! It's nice and cool now! Great job!

I recently had a new central heating and cooling system installed. The process was seamless. The team are very responsive. When the airconditioner started flooding the basement, they sent a technician the next day to fix the problem. I am considering using Alvin Hollis for Oil supply as a result. Thank you guys.

We contacted TJ at Alvin Hollis to look into having installed a new heating and air conditioning unit in a residential condo unit in Braintree Ma.He came out to the unit and conducted an assessment of what was the appropriate HVAC system for the unit.A few days later provided a price quote which was reasonable based on the quote received from another company which we had contacted.The individuals from Hollis who installed the system were very professional and a pleasure to deal with. The installation was completed on a timely basis.Overall the experience was painless for us.If you have a need for services they provide they would be in our opinion a good company to consider .Bill W

I use them for my primary oil purveyor and they are very good. One could pay a little less for oil, but their service (I have the top-level service contract) is top-notch, best of breed. unparalleled. The only reason I did not give them the fifth star is that I recently had them do a tank extraction/replacement, and it was a little less than perfect. It took a month to finally get a quote, and when they were done, they never fully finished the job (left stuff out on my back yard, didn't replace lattice work covering the bottom of the deck, ripped up the hydrangea bed beside my driveway and didn't fix it). To be fair, I believe that the outfit that didn't finish the job was not Alvin Hollis employed, but a sub-contractor. But I like them a lot, and I will be hiring them when I sell my house and move elsewhere.

Alvin Hollis recently installed AC and mini splits for us. They came when they said they would and completed the job early. They were very professional and answered all questions. I highly recommend Alvin Hollis!
