I was originally introduced to Michael when he was called in to give a third opinion on the "state of the art" design that was installed in my house when I built it. It was a system designed by an "expert" who did not install or service HVAC, but instead just studied it and designed it from afar. For the past 10 years my HVAC system has been a huge headache and it never worked effectively or even as efficiently as promised. After 10 years of this constant headache, it was time to finally fix it. I reached out to Michael and he was able to work to adapt the original design so that only the most accessible duct work was replaced, while the ductwork behind the walls could remain. I was so happy that he could adapt his design to make it the least "invasive" process. He was honest and upfront throughout the entire design and installation process. I am so happy to finally have a system that can keep up with the heating and cooling requests that we ask of the system. After 10 years of having my thermostat set at a certain temperature and never actually feeling that temperature, I am happy to see a thermostat that equals out! Many thanks to Michael and the team.

This company was wonderful to work with, from start to finish. Nancy was available anytime to answer questions and went above and beyond to research systems and provide information for the installation of the HVAC system. David was also wonderful to work with in coordinating the installation, the technicians were on time and got the system installed and functioning the same day, and Dawn has been helpful post-installation in making sure the equipment is registered for the warranty. I cannot say enough good things about this company...would choose them again and again, hands down!

I am very pleased & satisfied with the representatives, technicians, & work done by the Bonsby Heating & Air Conditioning Company in replacing & installing my new furnace system. The furnace was delivered within a few days, installed by experienced technicians, & operating successfully within the day. Further, the technician cleaned up the work area afterwards & provided clear explanations to me of system features & operating procedures. I would have no hesitation of working with this company again.

I've been doing HVAC 30 plus year's And i'm more than qualified for their hvac positions that they keep advertising for through zip recruiter.
They will view my application numerous times each time I apply. I'm plenty capable to pass a drug screen and background checks And I'm very capable of performing the job functions I apply for I even make follow up phone calls leaving messages with their human resources department. Yet they never ever call me back. The only reason I can think of is because they're discriminating against me because of my age and I'm a white American male.

Even though they have responded to this review and I have followed their directions, I have still not heard a word back from them no communications or response to my emails. A joke !!!!

No one looks forward to calling a repair technician except for me when I place a service call to Bonsby. I know I will be seeing Jason. I have such respect for his work ethic, professionalism, skill set and knowledge. He is very resourceful. I know he will not leave until the problem has been resolved to our mutual satisfaction. I've had Bonsby come six times in the past few years. They installed new ductwork when we finished our basement and have done spring/fall maintenance. In general I think those went fine.

However the last two visits haven't been great. For the first visit we had a history of losing refrigerant so I specifically asked that the levels be checked so that we could compare and see if it they were stable or we still had a leak. The receptionist agreed but their technician didn't check them and got defensive when I asked about it. He did measure that the sub-cooling was within spec which is good, but it wasn't what I asked for. Maybe a simple internal communication issue.

The last visit was a disaster. We have an upstairs and downstairs unit and the *upstairs* unit was not heating. The technician performed his diagnosis and determined that the wiring from the thermostat was bad and that we would need to get an electrician to replace it. He disabled the heat pump and switched it to auxiliary heat so that it would work in the interim. So far so good, or so it seemed.

A few days later I realized our *downstairs* unit was also set to auxiliary. I changed it to use the heat pump and left it a few hours but it wouldn't heat so I switched it back. I called Bonsby to ask why the downstairs unit was touched and stopped working when it didn't have any issues before they arrived. I was told the technician would give me a call. I called back the next day and they told me the technician would need to come to our house again to determine what was wrong with the downstairs unit.

At that point I called another HVAC company to get a second opinion. In less that half an hour they had both units working again. The wiring for both units had been messed up by Bonsby and they had to fix it. Then they determined that there was no issue with the wiring of the upstairs unit but instead it was a bad contactor.

A contactor can cost $10-15 on Amazon while replacing the wiring would have been a much bigger deal and probably run into the hundreds or thousands. And I still have no explanation for why the heck they touched the downstairs unit, messed up the wiring and disabled the heat pump! I called Bonsby about a week ago to request my money back for their visit (and not to reimburse me for the higher electric bill or additional costs to undo their work). They said they asked someone to call me back as soon as possible. I'm still waiting for that call back so apparently "as soon as possible" is not the same day or even the same week.

To summarize, here are the main reasons I can no longer recommend them:
* Unprofessional technician and receptionist: They both acted annoyed and defensive. I didn't go into much detail here but customer service training is needed for both.
* Unprofessional, but don't know who: Not returning my calls in a timely manner so I have to follow up.
* Incompetent technician: Misdiagnosed upstairs issue and required a second visit to determine why the downstairs unit wasn't working when he broke it.

Working with Michael Bonsby was a pleasure. The estimate came in lower than many other major HAVC companies in the work was impeccable. I was given several installation options and was able to research and pick the best choice for me. We had to accomplish several things over the phone to get the job done because I was not available.

The job was completed in the estimated time and their site was cleaned up like they were never even there. I highly recommend them for your job.
