Dutchman installed my furnace and air conditioner 11 years ago and have been maintaining it ever since. I have only had 1 instance where there was an issue with the service provided and they immediately solved the problem at no additional cost to me and provided some extra service in addition. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

Dutchman replaced our 22 year old furnace, AC and humidifier last week, removing all those wretched old dinosaur parts from our lives forever. And we couldn't be more impressed with the results! Now we have complete air conditioning throughout the entire house--even the upstairs bedrooms!! State of the art equipment, I'd say!

From the diagnosis (22 year old equipment?? yep!) to the estimates, and at last to the outstanding workmanship (and clean-up), we are absolutely satisfied. I recommend Dutchman to all! Plus they have a service plan so you can take care of your new devices! YAY!
And the technicians showed us how to use the new equipment. Can't beat that!

BTW: They are the nicest people !!!

We had a rather extensive project done—replacing our entire HVAC system from 1986! ...Yet, everything from the initial meetings with Mark to discuss my needs/options/pricing, to the install and many questions I threw at them (before and after the project), was top notch service!

I did my homework, interviewing several other companies—they were the only one that did not cut corners on the install, or provide unclear pricing. Also, I am the type who enjoys understanding how machines work, since HVAC is not my expertise—I somehow came away from the project learning more than I had planned!

I am grateful that Dutchman’s HVAC techs patiently addressed my questions and made this a pleasant process. A special thanks to Mark, for guiding us through the process, and making sure we were happy with the results. The system works great!

I have used the company since I moved into this house three years ago. They have always been straight with me on needed repairs or when repairs do not make sense and I should think about new items like my humidifier. They take the time to go the extra mile and answer all of my questions. This is even on other topics not necessarily in regards to the service call.

I am giving them a 3 * only because I am giving them the benefit of doubt. Depending on any responses to this I’d like to either change to a 5 or 1.
The big job was that they installed a new AC but the events preceding and succeeding it taken together is leading to my dissatisfaction. Here is the situation.

I hired Dutchman to do a health check of AC and furnace. They told me that it’s old and that I should start planning to replace both but they gave me a clean bill of health and that it was working well. So I figured I should be good for 2 seasons. But 2 weeks later my AC broke down. I decided that it was not worth repairing and I called Dutchman to replace the AC. So they replaced the AC and I shelled out close to 6k. They did their job and I was more thankful I had air than anything else. Now I started noticing that there was getting a grinding noise from the furnace/AC box. I called them and told them about the noise and that it started right after they left. They said they will check it out and will fix it if it’s their doing otherwise I’ll have to pay for fixes.
I didn’t like it ( since it started right after they left) and remember I got a clean bill of health during the seasonal checkup. But ok.
I figured if it was a furnace issue then I might as well get the furnace replaced through them.

Now the tech came over and told me that it was the motor in the blower and nothing to do with the AC. He also told me that if I was ok with the noise then there is nothing wrong with the unit.
I figured I’ll call Dutchmen next year to get it replaced.
Now I get a bill of $90. I said no way. You give me a clean bill if health by taking $145 then you replace my AC (for nearly 6k ) working near that furnace AC area. I then get the grinding sound right after you leave. And you have the gall to ask me for $90. I am not asking them to fix the noise. But at least don’t charge me the $90!
So I called up and essentially told them the 3 options. Either their folks are incompetent or their business practices are dubious or it’s just plain coincidence that I am getting this grinding noise.
I wouldn’t have charged the $90 to keep the customer satisfaction especially since there are so many elements of doubt in the customer’s eyes. But hey that’s me.

So Dutchmen was upset that I called them a liar and that they don’t want business from people like me since I even doubted their business practices. I only told them to look through my eyes and see the situation. Look at the 3 options. If he had told me that it was just plain coincidence I may not have been that upset.

But then I figured that maybe this is the way this industry goes so I can’t blame Dutchmen for that. Hence this post to really understand what other repair/ install folks would have done. I’d also like to hear from other customers to see If my reaction was justified.

He kept telling me that he had to pay his people. I did pay up. I didn’t want to be the reason for the tech to not get paid especially during these difficult times.

We have used Dutchman for the past 8 years after they installed our furnace and air conditioner. We have them out to perform checks on both every year. Their techs are always on time, neat and courteous. We believe their prices are fair.
