Called them because the control board of my LG duckless AC unit had failed.

A service person, Sergio, came the next day, and immediately reached out to LG service even before opening the unit or trying any type of diagnostics. After spending an hour on the phone, Sergio told me what I already knew, the control board needed to be replaced. It cost me $195 ($95 trip, $100 one hour on the phone). Then he said that "only LG could provide this part". I knew that was not true because I had already checked, and LG didn't have this part any longer.

Then Sergio said he would call me back with the price for the control board. Sergio did call after a couple of hours from his own phone, and told me that the boards was about $830.

Well, I also checked the price of the board online and there were several suppliers and the price ranged from $225 - $299. That is quite a mark up!!! Plus another $195 to Sergio to come back and install it.

A brand new unit, WITH the two indoor blowers, cost $2200, plus heat, which my current unit doesn't have. This place is absolutely crazy, over $500 mark up for a single part. I wonder if people really fall for this scam.

I ended up buying the control board and replacing it myself, not really a big deal. I should have done this from the start and save myself the $195 visit plus having to deal with Sergio and all the emails and texts sent by Five Start

Mark did an excellent job. Gave me a great price, did the job in a timely manner. As he said he would. Great customer service, communication, and workmanship. Very honest, which goes a long way in my book. Highly recommend them!!

Mark at Five Star has been my go-to HVAC guy for a decade. I have an old 1925 bungalow, and he kept my old boiler system limping along for many years. When it finally gave out, they installed a modern 95% efficiency condensing boiler to replace it, which also got rid of my water heater. My energy usage and bills went down significantly, and we love it. This year we finished our attic into a big master bed/bath/office space, and Mark's team came in to add a secondary loop to the system to heat the new space. They also added a Unico high velocity AC system to both floors. The work has always been top notch and prompt. All the techs who have performed the work are courteous and skillful. I've referred them to several friends already. If I could give Five Star six stars I would!

I hired 5 star last winter to install 2 new furnaces and an a/c. I did a fair amount of research and got several quotes. I honestly followed my gut as Mark was the most informative and responsive of all the companies I called. He took the time to explain the efficiencies of each furnace and helped me make an informed decision.
The company was the size I am comfortable with as Mark himself quoted and inspected the jobs.
He just came out in the middle of this pandemic and economic collapse to tweak my a/c unit. He could have given me the run around but didn't.

The work was done in a vintage high rise condo and these guys executed the work to perfection. They came up with a great plan to relocate the air handler, found a smart path for all the connections to electricity, and refrigeration lines to cause the least disruption, and they completed the work on time. They left my home clean after work each day and were most professional in all my interactions with the installers and the owner of the business. Their estimate for the work and the final bill were exactly the same and the price was better than the other bid I received.
