I am seriously considering contacting the District Attorney to report this unscrupulous and bullying company. I am going to write a more in-depth review (or edit this one), but this is to warn people to stay away from this "company." Long story short is that my heater was working when the company sent a service person out for a yearly check (they called me to schedule, I did not reach out to them, as my furnace was operating fine). After trying to sell me air conditioning and putting in a new filter, the service person left without leaving me any paperwork or record of the visit. After he left, the furnace stopped working completely. I called and they sent back out the same service person. He said that he told me the furnace was not working properly. When I challenged him, he got very defensive, almost aggressive. I told him to leave, but he lingered near the front door, so I had to tell again to leave again. After sending out another service person, who said the motherboard of the furnace was broken, I spoke with Leo, who told me that he would replace the motherboard at cost. I deferred, but when my wife called to follow up, Leo told her that I was a liar and that his service person, Chris, had taped me and that he had heard the whole conversation. This is a violation of state law, a criminal offense, as it was not done with my permission. I called Leo and emailed him to ask for a copy of the tape and of the service call record. Nothing after two days, and I don't expect anything. Leo is by his own admission is a person who doesn't follow the law, so why would he have any business ethic. Stay away from this gang.

Jorge Cardenas first contacted us in February 2020 asking if we needed maintenance on our HVAC system. We decided that would be a good idea, and Jorge scheduled a service appointment for us. As soon as the company's technician walked through the door he realized we had a BIG problem. Turns out rats had invaded our attic, had chewed holes through the ductwork, and were living INSIDE our HVAC ducting! AHHHH!!!!! After much discussion with additional company personnel, we settled upon the following services, to be performed as expeditiously as possible: removal of the entire existing HVAC system (i.e., heater, blower, exchanger, exterior A/C unit, ducting, air registers, thermostat; this work began THAT SAME DAY!); removal of all existing attic insulation; rat proofing and sanitizing the attic; installation of an entire new HVAC system (i.e., heater, blower, exchanger, exterior A/C unit, ducting, air registers, thermostat); and installation of new blown in attic insulation. When evidence of rats was discovered after installation of all the new stuff, they sent the rat proofer back to take care of the issue (the initial rat proofing missed the spot where the line from the exterior A/C unit enters the attic). We were VERY relieved that we were no longer breathing rat infused air! And we LOVE our Nest thermostat and the associated Nest app.
Due to the critical nature of the situation (i.e., I wanted those rats out of my ducts NOW!!!), we did not do any comparison shopping to see if we could get a better price with a different company. Should we have obtained job estimates from other companies? Yes, probably. But did I want to take the time to do so? NO. GET RID OF THOSE RATS NOW! Did we get a much better HVAC system than we would have purchased under normal circumstances? Definitely!

Here are a few negatives we encountered during this experience:

1. We should have specified that we wanted cellulose rather than fiberglass for the blown-in attic insulation. Hopefully we will never need to upgrade our ethernet cabling that is currently in the attic and will have no reason to ever enter our attic.
2. Workers often arrived up to 30 minutes EARLIER than our scheduled appointment time. When you are just waking up or stepping into the shower first thing in the morning it's a bit difficult to answer the door. Even when I anticipated the workers would likely arrive early, they arrived even earlier than that!
3. While we did feel a bit of an up-sell pressure to purchase a specific A/C unit, it is THE BEST A/C unit we've ever had and it is sure keeping us cool in this hot weather! Our EPA certified HVAC Technician son was duly impressed with our new system. We like to joke that it's our "Mercedes Benz" HVAC system (we are typically Honda/Toyota people).
4. I got the impression the Green Sky financing program (i.e., no payments, no interest if paid in full within two years) we took advantage of added approximately 8% to our cost. Looking back, we probably should have simply raided the cash in our after tax brokerage account (we had sufficient funds to do so); but since I was enamored of using other people's money, I forgot to "do the math" before making our purchase financing decision. *SIGH* Guess breathing all that rat infused air rattled my brain.

Andres spent at least an hour here for my yearly furnace check and maintenance. He was extremely helpful and informative. He even showed me what filters to buy online for the future and he left me a new filter for me to use next time I have to replace my filter. I asked him if you clean air ducts and he said you replace them because trying to clean them may cause them to tear. He then proceeded to check all my air ducts and he took pictures of them to show to his boss to get an estimate of what it would cost to replace them. I feel he went above and beyond what I expected and he was so polite. I really appreciate his efforts .

I was so pleased with the service I received for my AC unit. Gerry the technician was so polite, friendly and trustworthy. He did a great job and gave me some helpful tips. Had another service want to upswell me before. I will use Avis from now on and ask for Gerry to do the service

I have worked in customer service through out my career and I was really impressed by everyone at Avis Home Solutions. My AC died one evening in the middle of September and called them the first thing the next morning. Even though they very busy, Cruz managed to get someone look at it within three hours of my call. Mike clearly explained why my old AC could not be fixed and was straight forward about all my options for for purchasing and financing a new unit. Enrique, who prepared for the delivery of the new AC and Eddie and Rosario who installed it were all efficient, quick and clean. I'm especially grateful to Eddie and Rosario who finished the installation that evening. Everyone I had contact with at Avis was friendly and courteous and treated me with respect.

On one of the warmer days last week, and in preparation for the upcoming summer months, I turned on my ac to cool my house only to find it wasn't working! Based on a recommendation of a family member, I called Avis Home Solutions, and I'm very glad I did. The technician arrived on time for my appointment, and was very respectful of my home. During his inspection of my unit, he quickly identified an issue, and called in an additional technician to confirm his diagnosis. With my thoughts of a dead unit spinning in my mind ( our equipment is over 13 years old), and an expensive bill to come, I was relieved to find out my repair consisted of fixing a small leak, and a recharging the Refrigerant. I was pleasantly surprised to see a very reasonable bill, and glad to have such a compassionate repair technician to interact with. My concern over the age of our equipment was absolved when the technician indicated when he told me it is working very efficiency, and quietly, and in good working order. In addition to the repair, without any mention from me, he also identified an airflow issue that has plagued 2 rooms in my house since we moved in 4 years ago. He recommended corrections to our ductwork, and replacing my plenum, I can't wait for the summer to come so we can use our more efficient, and operational unit!

Chris, the responding technician was rude and walked out of my house after reviewing the invoices for my heater purchase where he proceeded to tell me that I had purchased an “under sized” unit for my home!
When asked if he would perform the job Avis was contacted to perform, check the system for proper operation, he turned and walked out.
I called the office to request another technician, I was told that a “manager” would contact me on the following Monday to follow up on my experience.
No call, just this survey!
Worst service ever!!
