Luis was stellar and his experience invaluable. While two other techs were unable to resolve a faulty outdoor sensor in a heat pump, Luis told me they fail regularly & he goes straight to replacing them with a remote sensor. Problem solved in a few minutes. And on a Sunday.

We bought our Daikin 5 ton unit in early 2020 from Green Valley Cooling and Heating. At the time they seemed great and we did more business with them over the next year. We were also on the included maintenance plan and the people were professional and courteous. Given we had 2 equivalent Trane AC units in Phoenix for 22 years with little problem we decided to go off the maintenance plan when it expired beginning of 2022. We thought what's the point of paying nearly $200 a year for something essentially brand new. We don't pay service contracts for our computers, TVs, or kitchen equipment and never found it necessary. Plus, the parts are warrantied for 12 years.

That's when the trouble began. In February a circuit board fried which kept power from going to the heat pump, so no heat. A tech friend of mine checked the unit and found that the power lead looked burnt. I called Green Valley and they came out, replaced the circuit board, and repaired the burnt lead. They charged for the labor and service call but not the part since it was under warranty. I was miffed by the fact that the board had failed at all for being relatively new, but chalked it up to fluke.

Last Thursday the unit quit completely. I was angry. I called my friend who came and opened the unit to find the power relay had fried. Being a tech he was able to replace it but upon investigation his opinion was that either the installation of the lead was botched or the fix on the burnt lead was botched based on the crack in the connector. He believes the connection was over tightened and that the tech should have been able to feel it when it cracked but decided to let it slide.

I paid my tech buddy for the part, which he said is on warranty, but since he was not a Daikin dealer I would have to put in for the claim.

I called Daikin first and was told my dealer would have to put in for the warranty claim. I told him that was ridiculous and if a dealer could do it I should be able to as well. They said no.

I called Green Valley and told them the story and that I have pictures. THEY TOLD ME TO EAT IT. Even REFUSED to help with the warranty claim process.

So the moral of the story is if you stop spending money with them they have no loyalty to you after the thousands you've given them. The good news is I've spent way more on valuable lessons than the $265 I spent on this one.
