Ryan did a great job fixing a blockage in my A/C unit so that I didn't have to buy a new one. Initially he thought it was unrepairable, but after thinking it through he came up with an innovative way to flush out a piece of metal that was blocking the coolant -- and now it works as good as new saving me thousands of dollars! Kudos Ryan for sticking in there and giving great customer service!!!

Harker Heating & Cooling installed a new furnace and central air-conditioning for my kitchen renovation in 2002, and they have done maintenance and service for me for 17 years. Every aspect of working with Harker is top quality, from the advice they give, the equipment they install, and the service they provide. My most recent experience was with Kurt H. on a service call; he arrived on time, efficiently fixed the problem, explained everything clearly. Communication with the main office in scheduling the call was equally efficient and friendly.

Travis was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. He was personable, patient and great at giving a number of options to address my furnace/AC issues. He worked hard to accommodate a time sensitive job I needed done in quick order. I would highly recommend Harker Heating and Cooling based on my experience.

Had an issue with a relatively complicated water heater setup. I have a 75 gallon and a 50 gallon working in series. The 75 gallon was about 18 years old and had shorted out and burned up the circuit. I only noticed the 75 gallon burn because the pressure switch for my well was also malfunctioning and would occasionally stop calling for water pressure.
Was having a very hard time getting an electrician out for such a small job of replacing the one circuit box. Got in touch with Dirk from Harker on a referral from a previously satisfied customer. Dirk got me on the schedule to take care of the pressure switch and the 75 gallon and the electric. Three days before they were scheduled to come out I heard a horrible racket in my house and when I went to the basement the water pressure was bouncing around 85-90 and water was flowing from the pressure release valve (basically starting to flood the basement). Basically the pressure switch was freaking out the opposite direction and constantly calling for more.
Called up Dirk(sun wasn't even up yet) who walked me through a quick fix and he then scrambled to get me moved up on their packed schedule. The guys showed up promptly. Not only did they install the new unit and get rid of the old one, but the master plumber Aaron(A-A Ron) wasn't satisfied with how the previous piping was put together, and made it easier to reach both gas shutoffs by moving a bunch of piping around at no extra cost to me. They then were kind enough to take care of the electrical problem by removing the faulty box and replacing it.
When they were close to complete and were walking me through everything, which I appreciated, I made a small complaint about another small issue I had with the house. I have to change a sediment filter every 3 months or so, and I need to basically drain the whole house to do it because when they built the place they didn't put a valve I could close 'above' the filter. I wasn't trying to bait them into any more work.
They ran out to the truck and 20 minutes later it was done. Keep in mind I hadn't mentioned this to Dirk and these guys were tired after humping both 75 gallon monsters up and down my stairs and were probably looking forward to getting home, I know I would have been.
But they knocked it out and now it'll take me 2 minutes to change the filter instead of 30 minutes. Not a horrible life inconvenience by any stretch, but I'm still very appreciative and I'll be thanking them every time I change that filter.
I should also mention, they installed the exact same 75 gallon unit as another bid I had gotten earlier from a well known competitor. And the bill from Harker was over $500 cheaper even after all the little extra stuff they did for me.
While I only have one data point to base this on, I am confident Harker is better and cheaper than their biggest competitors around Madison. I was blown away by everything about working with these folks. They even vacuumed my stairs(which my kids had plenty dirty and I don't think the guys from Harker even tracked in the dirt they vacuumed).
Probably why they have over 70 positive reviews and the other guys aren't even close. They didn't ask for this review and I rarely am motivated enough to leave positive or negative reviews. Aaron and his "apprentice"(who had about 9 years experience) and Dirk are all outstanding humans working for a great company.

Jim P. was courteous and professional while performing service on our heating system. We had a bad part and he went out of his way to ensure we had a new part installed and in good working order within an hour. Nice guy. Great service we’ve come to expect from our friends at Harker.

Many thanks to Eric & Dylan for their great service and professionalism with the installation of my new HVAC system. They also did a SUPERB job in covering my light colored carpet with new tarps and a meticulous clean up upon completion of install. You guys are the best!

After arriving home from work on Friday to find a cold house and my furnace flashing a code I could not remedy. I called Harker (after hours) and Mark was at my house within an hour. He was able to quickly identify the issue. Although having to order a part for a long term fix, Mark was able to get us heat for part of the weekend (luckily it was not during a polar vortex that weekend). Mark returned Monday with the part, and the furnace has been working great ever since! I can’t say enough how nice it was to work with all the professional people at Harker…They have earned a loyal customer in me. jb

Travis was very knowledgeable and friendly! As a first time homeowner I did not know anything about our furnace. During the time he cleaned and maintained it he also explained about types of filters and life expectancy of our current unit, as well as options for replacement. I will definitely be calling them again when it is time to install a new furnace!

My furnace stopped working, and a guy from Harker came out to look at it.
He was here for 45 minutes, and all he did is diagnose the issue, and they charged me $355 and I still have a broken furnace. That’s robbery.
