Do not contact Millies HVAC service to resolve your heating system problems. They will misdiagnose your issue and not even provide you with a quote in a timely manner! Take your money elsewhere!
I had a heating system issue at my home and contacted Millies HVAC on New Year's Eve to diagnose the issue and provide me a quote for the repair the day of service. They were kind enough to send a technician on January 2nd and luckily it was a warm week for January, so I wasn't in much of a rush.
Millies HVAC mentioned that I should expect a surcharge of approximately $60 for a technician's visit that would also go towards the repair of my heating system. This isn't a problem because it is how many services operate.
The technicians initially misdiagnosed my system by informing me that both of my control boards had to be replaced ($$$). The technician then mentioned later on that my electric heat kit was faulty ($$$) and that my control boards were actually fine. I found this odd because the only heat that was originating from my house was due to auxiliary heat - and not the heat pump. The auxiliary heat and the emergency heat originate from the same source and I knew that wasn't the problem because the emergency heat function in our house also worked.
The technician mentioned that he would provide me a quote within a few hours after leaving. Upon reaching out to him later in the day, he mentioned that his supplier was closed due to the observed holiday and would provide me with the quote the following morning. I recognized this issue and knew that it wasn't a problem.
The next day still goes by without a response from the technician. Then on January 4th at noon I contacted Millies HVAC over the phone and requested the quote. The supervisor told me that he would email me the quote the following morning because he was going to go out for lunch!
I ended up replacing the capacitor the following day of my unit and it resolved all fault messages and error codes and my heating system is working as expected.
I experienced awful service from Millies HVAC this past week, and my family and I were lucky that it wasn't freezing outside. They refused to give me a quote in a timely manner and the quote I was expecting was for an issue that would not have resolved my heating system problems because all that had to be replaced was my capacitor.
My AC was not cooling the house. Contacted Service doctors, AKA Millie's HVAC in 062021. They recommend to replace my HVAC and furnace but did not recommend replacement of evaporator coil. In 2022, start of summer season, AC was not cooling the house again. The unit had no freon indicating leak that was left undiagnosed. For 2 visits they filled with unit with Freon and eventually on 3rd visit told me I needed the evaporator coil replaced. They did not show up one appointment and delayed another appointment at last minute. Unfortunately, they misdiagnosed and I was changed with an additional amount to pay for evaporator coil. Poor service by acting manager, Kamal who refused to bring this issue up to owner and stated I can only speak to him. Of note, the technician notified the owner at time of leak who did not pay much attention to what the technician was saying, indicating they made a mistake by not replacing the evaporator coil. Would not use this company again as they lack to take responsibilities, not showing up/delaying appointment, poor diagnostic assessments, lack of professional behavior by acting manager and owner does not want to be involved when there is an issue.
I really have two reviews, one for the service aspect of the work and another for the backoffice work.
1.) First for the replacement of my furnace due to a cracked heat exchange. The initial contact with Charles was very positive, he was responsive and professional. Was able to diagnose the problem quickly and work up a quote. There was also an issue of what equipment (furnaces) were available and he helped us through that selection for a next day installation.
The installation team showed up on time and the work performed was very good. Due to COVID and my Father-in-laws Leukemia I had asked the installation team to wear their masks the entire time, which they mostly did.
The cost of the installation was roughly $3,900 after taxes for a 96% 80,000 BTU unit.
2.) The backoffice charged me a 50% deposit and then the remainder on the installation day. A month later I was again charged for another $1,974. I called the backoffice and the office manager Kamal Sharma spoke with me and indicated that a "new" backoffice person made a mistake. He indicated that they would refund in 7-10 days, but that the bank would hold it up for 30 days. I approved of a refund, and then called the next day to confirm as well as get a receipt. Mr. Sharma was very unpleasant and said I just had to wait. I don't agree that and confirmed with Chase (the card I used) that he could have processed the receipt immediately.
Here it is 1 week later to the day I notified them (Feb 14, 2022) and I still don't have a credit back from the company. They did send a refund receipt on Feb 18th, 2022.
Overall, I won't go back to this company again. The backoffice made a mistake and I had the burden of an additional $2K on my credit card. Not acceptable and should have been resolved in a more friendly manner in my opinion.
They gave me the same bologna they gave someone else that my technician is on an emergency and can't come today like they promised. I have to go another day in 95 degree heat without air conditioning. They say 24 hours a day 365 days a year on their invoice. I guess that is except when your technician is busy with someone else. They didn't even bother to call to tell me they could not come as promised. I had to call them. I will not be using this company again.
They told us we had a refrigerate leak and I would have to replace both units. We replaced both units earlier in July, we are in August and I've had to call them back twice because my units randomly stop cooling the house. They are definitely not a 24/7 service as they schedule me for next day instead of getting me a tech same day. I wish I would have shopped around before going with them.
Except the the guys who hardly spoke English, or maybe no English at all, I am very very unhappy with performance of this company. including Sales Person, The person who sent me the contract, the person who showed up just one time on my property, they all lied in one way or the other. Even this person sent me this email to write a review. Shawn Taylor: I never said I liked the work! They were not on time, at all, Price was high and I had no choice because at 110 degrees Saturday afternoon I had to get it fixed, Sales person left me no option, but buying a new one and said it will be installed within the next 4-5 Hours. Well it took ten hours and I (73 years Old ) had to stay up till 2 after mid-night. The three guys who installed the air condition were very nice people (nothing against them), but, did not have much of training. Were not experienced installers. none of the guys had a license. when I requested to see license, they showed me a home improvement license from State of Maryland. No one from the company (being experienced ever came to inspect the work) My advice for future customers is do your shopping around, and put timing on contract. Make sure you inspect and require proper licensing for the work this company wants to do for you
I have waited two years to write this review just to be on the safe side. My experience with Alan and Amit was really positive. They were the most straight forward HVAC contractor I have dealt with. Their prices were the best and most competitive but with that you wont a nice van with someone's face on it or get employees in uniforms which is fine because they knew what there doing. Two weeks after the AC was installed, we had a bad thunderstorm and yhe compressor got damaged. They were very responsive and came out fast and replaced it. I highly recommend using them if you are looking for a good value.
The A/C failed of course on the hottest day this year on an investment property that I own. I called and the technicians were dispatched within 12 hours due to the fact the tenant is elderly with respiratory issues. They were courteous and efficient and fixed the A/C in less than an hour. What I also appreciated is the fact that their office called me the next day to verify that the A/C was working and to check to see if the tenant was satisfied with their service. I highly recommend Millie’s HVAC and plan to use them again as needed in the future.
HVAC was leaking water so I called Millie’s in August 2019. The tech came out, checked the Freon gauge outside, and visually inspected the inside unit. After a total of 10 minutes on the property he concluded the unit needed to be replaced due to a Freon leak. Total cost $2500.
After he left, I googled Freon leak and all articles stated that the root cause should be detected (i.e. identify where the leak was). This was not done. I then called a small local HVAC company for a second opinion and they conclude that there was a clogged pipe, not a leak. He added a cartridge to the inside unit (repaired it) and said I was good to go. Total cost $200.
Millie’s called me a week later to follow up on the replacement and close the sale. I told them it was fixed and that I felt the tech didn’t do his job. They insisted I still needed to pay the diagnostic free, which I reluctantly payed.
It’s now September 2020 (1 year later) and I am happy to report that I have not had an issue with the HVAC since. If you want an HVAC replacement, maybe these are your guys. If you want your HVAC accurately diagnosed or fixed, I’d look somewhere else.
