6/2/14 appointment with Mike Prater for our semi-annual maintenance check-up:
Mike Prater, our Vernon Heating and Cooling Senior Service technician, arrived promptly for our scheduled appointment time on 6/2/14 and explained to us in detail what he would be doing for our Vernon semi-annual maintenance check-up. He inspected our air conditioning system (inside and outside) thoroughly and checked the thermostat. He found a problem with our condenser and told us that it was not working properly and would need to be replaced. He then described the various replacement options, and we decided that replacing our 12-year old air conditioner and gas furnace would be the best solution, based on its expected life span. After Mike knew that this was the option we wanted to pursue, he checked with the Vernon office to give us the specific equipment options and prices. He explained the options and went through the itemized price quotations, and we asked him more questions, which he answered in detail. After we made our decision, he called his office and was able to schedule a next day installation. He told us about Vernon’s “white glove” equipment removal and installation, which we appreciate.
We were very pleased with our Vernon service appointment with Mike Prater, who is a very pleasant, professional, and knowledgeable service technician. Thank you, Mike!

6/3/14 appointment with Zach and Brian R. for the removal of the old equipment and installation of the new equipment:
Zach and Brian R. from Vernon Heating and Cooling arrived at the scheduled time for our removal and installation appointment and explained what they were going to do and how long it should take. They worked efficiently, handled the removal and installation well, and cleaned up the areas where they were working. Zach gave me a detailed explanation of the new equipment and the programmable thermostat, and also of the itemized bill. Both Zach and Brian R. were very pleasant, professional, and knowledgeable. He did a very thorough job of inspecting and checking our indoor and outdoor furnace equipment. I had two heat pump systems installed. Mike was phenomenal helping me decide what systems to install, answering all my questions, and getting me the right price. He was able to arrange installation of both systems the next day. The installation teams arrived on time and started work right away. The four guys were very professional, courteous and answered all my questions. They installed the systems quickly, had great team work and did a tremendous job cleaning up after the work was done. They also did a great job describing the systems and their operation. Overall, an outstanding experience.

Working from home today, I saw the thermostat was not as cool as where we had it set. Uh oh!! It was a whole SIX degrees warmer. I took a look outside and saw the fan on our external unit was not spinning, even though the unit was kicking on (it is 93+ degrees today!).

The local company near us that we have hired in the past was already closed. So I Google searched, and called the first company on the list. I called at 4 PM, and the woman that answered said they had just stopped service at 4, so wouldn’t be able to come until the next afternoon (even though their hours said they closed at 6). I said I was going to try and find a company in case someone can come today. I did another quick Google search, worried I wouldn’t be able to find someone to come out the same day. I saw the high star reviews for Vernon and immediately gave them a call. The woman that answered the phone was very polite and after she took my address, thankfully she said that yes, someone can come out today between 5-7 pm. Wonderful!

The price for the diagnosis seemed fair, though I admit was a bit higher than the other company I had called first. But, in my mind, if they can come save our family from being miserable in this heat for 24+ hours on such short notice, it is well worth the few extra dollars!

Nick was the person that came to help, after I told him about the fan not spinning on the outside unit, he said it could be, and was hopefully the capacitor. Since that is the most common reason for the unit’s fan to not spin, he has about 100 on his truck! Well, he was right, thank goodness! He replaced it in just a couple minutes. Since I was paying for the diagnosis, I asked him if he could take a look at the indoor system (just in case he saw anything less than ide), and he was happy to. Everything looked good, but he gave me some tips to keep our system in tip top shape. He didn’t have to give me any suggestions, but I asked him to and appreciated all the information he gave me. I had already been curious about the cost of cleaning out our ducts for a future visit since we have pets, and was happy to learn that information, especially from such a highly rated company.

Nick was very professional, as was the woman who I spoke with on the phone. I will absolutely call them next time we have any issues or when we do get our ducts cleaned in the next few weeks.

Bryan did an excellent job installing the new furnace. Friendly, efficient, competent, patient, he was completely focused on completing the job at hand. The work was done properly and the area was spotless when they departed. I highly recommend the Vernon Team and Bryan in particular. We could not be more pleased.

Great service from beginning to end. I called Vernon in the morning and they squeezed me into their schedule later that afternoon. I've been a Vernon customer for several years and have always had great support and response time from the initial call to when the technician finishes the job. Regarding the technician, George, he is the best. I recommend George with absolutely no reservations. He's honest and you can tell he's a man of integrity, which goes a long way in my book. He is very knowledgeable, thorough, detailed oriented, and is a great communicator. He always walks me through what he is doing and then subsequently walks me through what the heating/AC equipment is telling him based on his overall observations of the age (wear & tear) of the systems. He'll provide recommendations on what I should do for future planning with the systems but ultimately he leaves the decision in my court. He never pressures me into making a decision on the spot. He always tells me to give it some thought. Again, if you want someone who is honest, thorough, and an expert HVAC technician, George is the person for you.

Very pleased with the service by Vernon. They were responsive and helpful when our air conditioner broke just as we are going into a heat wave. Mike Carofano and Kenny C. did the installation. They were professional, respectful of our home and property, informative, trustworthy and competent. We would definitely recommend Vernon and their staff.

Kenny Chrismon was excellent and very professional. He installed my ac and furnace recently. Very polite. He showed me every about the systems at the end. As it turns out he had installed a new hot water heater a few years ago. That too was done professionally. Both times the cleanup was superb! Pleasant guy

Vernon had not recorded our appointment today, but they recovered quickly and sent John within an hour. John was knowledgeable, went straight to the problem, and recommend alternative solutions. John interacts with the customer very well, is friendly and courteous in addition to being obviously competent. He arranged for Vernon to have a replacement component to solve our problem later the same day. Everything about our experience with Vernon and John was outstanding. We continued to be return customers.

I have used Vernon for both heating and air conditioning issues. They have responded quickly to my calls and even scheduled an emergency service call on the weekend. Their technicians are professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. I especially appreciate their attention to detail and their ability to explain the work they are doing. They are efficient and take great care not to disturb the home and leave it clean and tidy. I am happy to be a customer.
