I searched the internet extensively to find our new fifth wheel. My search took me to Dodd RV in Portsmouth VA. They had what we wanted and were extremely nice to work with. Although they are located 3 hours from us....... it was well worth the trip. They answered all our questions, met all our requests and everyone was very friendly and helpful.

Once my wife and I decided that a travel trailer was what we needed to fit our vacation and living needs for the next few years, we went looking around. We found a new trailer at another dealer that the floor plan fit our needs perfectly. We decided to keep looking because we were not sure a brand new trailer was right for us. We showed up at Dodd RV in Yorktown on a Saturday afternoon, two kids in tow and tired from a full day of family activities. Tina was walking out of the yard when we pulled in and asked if she could help. We told her we were window shopping but wanted to see a hybrid trailer. She showed us where they were and after she had answered our questions left us to browse. This was perfect for us as we needed the time and space. We found a used 267 Jay Flight on the lot and looked at it. It was the exact same plan we liked in at the other dealer, just with a slide out. We went back into the office and Tina was with another customer. Jamie Dodd and Mike McNeil took time out to help us and answer our questions so we would not have to wait for Tina. Again there was no pressure and everyone was helping each other out to please the customer. We went back a week later and bought the trailer. Tina made the paperwork easy and ensured we had what we needed to start the process as well as recommending the things like load distributing hitch and electric brakes for inclusion in the contract. She was very knowledgeable and answered all the new to owning an RV questions I had. As soon as the application was approved she set up our pick up and all went smooth. Arnold in Financing was great and had us in and out quickly but without rushing and made sure all our questions were answered. At each step of the way, someone was there to ensure we were happy and that we were always moving in the right direction through the pick up process. Cindie in parts had done her homework on our purchase and included a one sheet "Might want" list with prices as well as a huge RV parts book. I know that this is marketing but the fact that she knew what trailer we were buying and had done some homework, no matter how easy or difficult, on parts for that trailer was going the extra mile. She also gave us a tour of the parts room. Pete out in service did our walk through. He knew what and how I needed to know to make our trailer easy to operate and use. His advice on maintenance and care was great. I love the fact that Dodd RV uses their service personnel to do this initial walk through with the customer. I was a Service technician at a boat dealership and we never saw a customer except when they needed work done. It makes sense to have the guy that knows the underside of the trailer explain to a new owner how things operate. After we got hooked up we immediately went home and packed and headed down to Cape Hatteras for three nights with the new trailer. It was a big success and Dodd RV helped to make that possible. Our first day on the road was stress free because of the stress free time we spent picking up and getting to know our new trailer. Thanks from Jason, Cheryl, Robby, Alana, Lady (the dog), and Stormy (the rabbit) who all had a great first outing in our travel trailer.

I truly had a great experience at Dodd RV. What a family owned and operated organization! I felt like I was part of the family... until I wasn't.

We purchased a camper from Dodd RV in Portsmouth, Virginia, on July 21, 2020…………we were issued a Title that did not match the Camper we purchased.
After several months of back and forth…………on NOVEMBER 12, 2020, WE FINALLY RECEIVED OUR CORRECTED TITLE FROM DMV………Jennifer Dodd provided DMV with the information needed to make this happen....THANK YOU JENNIFER…now we are a happy CAMPER OWNER and SATISFIED WITH OUR PURCHASE ……

We were looking shopping online for a half-ton towable with a small slide. We looked at Dood Rv's web site and found a Passport and we liked the floorplan. We called Christina and set up an appointment to view the Passport. When we saw the unit, we loved the layout so we made an offer. We were given a price and we felt were not where we thought we should be on price, but Jennifer worked with us and we came to an agreement. You "can" deal with Dood RV and we feel we were treated fairly. Christina was great to work with and helped us by getting Jennifer involved in the final pricing.
Jennifer was great to us and we enjoyed working with her. There were several small things that we requested and Jennifer met our every request. Great job Jennifer.
Steve, our walk through Tech was great. Even though we have owned travel trailers in the past, he explained everything about the Passport. The Passport was used but Steve made sure that everything was clean and worked the way it was supossed to work. Dood even painted the hitch and jacks to make them look new even though we didn't request or expect it. That was a pleasant surprise.
My thanks to Christina, Jennifer, Steve and all the staff at Dood Rv. It is a pleasure doing business with you.
Thanks again,
The Vaughans

We liked Dodd RV very much. They are very thorough with regard to sharing a packet of info on what maintenance you should perform on your RV to keep it in tip top shape...everyone we dealt with was very nice. When we arrived to complete the purchase of our RV it was found that the end cap of the unit (brand new) had faded badly and the motor in the awning was bad...plus a couple of other minor punch list issues. While disappointing to say the least, we have been assured that all of this will be fixed as soon as possible and we've had no indication other than their willingness to have everything taken care of as quickly as they can. Some things, such as ordered parts, outside vendor doing the paint work, etc. are beyond their control with regard to timeliness. I would like to update this rating once everything has been completed. All in all, it is our belief that Dodd goes to great lengths to insure customer satisfaction and to foster great relationships with them...there is an annual Dodd RV Rally at a local campground, they do monthly in-service training seminars that are free to attend. So, we while disappointed that our RV wasn't perfection at pick-up, we aren't concerned that it won't eventually be made right.

I had an issue with both my electronic brakes and a slide, they needed to be corrected prior to me navigating the mountains of W. Virginia. Stacy assisted me in taking care of this issues as quickly as possible so I could make it to my Labor Day locations as required! Thank you for your responsiveness, low prices and friendly knowledgeable work team.

Went here to shop around for a 5th wheel and first off the sales person didn't offer any info or help for that matter. He just said look around. Several 5th wheels didn't have prices listed inside so I guess having an employee would've been helpful but he just said look around and didn't offer anything else. He didn't even approach us he just shouted from the deck. He did say welcome. Not much of a selection of what we were looking for. Not sure if they could have ordered something for us or gave some helpful information. We kive close by and wanted to do business local but with this type of service we drove to Camping World and received help upon entering the building and a employee walked us through the lot and answered any questions we had. Sorry Dodds but we took our business else where. One star only for being so close.

Went to this place to get a hitch installed on my truck on the weekend. Was told come back Monday that they didnt give quotes on Sundays which was totally fine. Came back Monday was told that if I didnt by the trailor from them, they wont even talk to you about getting a hitch installed. So basicly if you did not buy from them they are not going to help you out at all. I lived in Portsmouth a long time. I knew of this place for years and thought they had a good reputation. I guess I was very wrong. I would not recommend them to anyone. I came because they had a booth set up at the past RV show advertising hitches at thier booth. Why go advertise them if you are not going to install them? So if you didn’t buy from them they are not a good option. Sucks, just does not seem like a good way to do life.
