Hobbs Mechanical

We have used Hobbs twice now and both times we have needed someone quickly. The technicians arrived exactly when they said and did the job they came to do. Of the technicians we have had in our home they have all been very nice and very professional. They took our needs into consideration and did their very best to take care of them on their first visit. In one instance it required a second visit to replace a part and the very next day they were here when they said and completed the task efficiently and promptly. We would highly recommend Hobbs AC for both heating and cooling needs. We don't feel you would be disappointed with their service.

Our heat pump stopped working on Monday and they were able to send someone that evening. The technician was very good and gave us options regarding the best way to resolve the problem. He also explained exactly what was going on in terms that we could understand. They now have a regular customer. I will be highly recommending them to anyone looking for excellent HVAC service.

My husband, Jay Hassell, and I are your local Realtors. Hobbs came out and helped seal the deal just an hour before closing on a house. Jeff personally drove from Newport News to Suffolk to ensure our clients that all the wiring is working properly at walk-through. He understood the gravity that this "problem" could kill the deal and made us a priority. We really appreciate it! Jeff walked the clients personally through the home and tested out "possible issues" and reassured them that everything is working properly and running efficiently. Our clients were very happy with Hobbs service and hospitality. We really appreciate how genuine this man runs his business. Very impressed!

These folks care! They were honest with me and when a issue arose they bent over backwards to make things right. I have an Apollo system and their initial tech didn't understand some of the mechanics. Mr. Hobbs made sure that my concerns were addressed, sending out another tech at no cost, and calling me personally to ensure the issue was completed.

Their professionals take the time to explain the problem and speak honestly with you. Their tech, Casey, called me personally many times taking as much time as I required to understand the issue and what the fixes would require/cost. Very reasonable rates. I called them at 3 AM on a Sunday morning about a leaking hot water tank and received a response within 15 minutes. From my experience I can't say enough good things about Mr.Hobbs and his group of knowledgable and caring technicians. I HIGHLY recommend them.

I do not recommend. They do not show up and preform the services as promised. Lack of training on thier part cost us a wasted day on getting our system serviced.

*Edit. That is a completely false statement. I would have be happy to pay said fee. I did question it because the diagnosis had already been preformed by your technician the night prior. But was happy to pay it to get the service as promised. What your technician promised us he was going to do and what your office staff told us would actually happen were two totally different things. Thus we had to start all over with finding another service provider. If your technicians are not authorized to promise services they shouldn't convey that to the customer. That is where we feel the lack of training applies. The owner calling asking for me to please remove the review after admitting a mistake was made and not offering a solution only adds to the fact I would stay away from this company. He seems to only care about the review and not the actual customer and/or problem.

My furnace suddenly shut off. Went on line to check local HVAC contractors and found Hobbs Mechanical’s website. Checked out the numerous reviews and was highly satisfied with all of the positive comments. Called them and they sent a technician out to my house the same day. Kevin was highly knowledgeable and motivated and explained what issues affected my heating plant. He got it running and serviced the unit. He made sure that everything was running fine before departing. Great people skills and communication skills. Also thanks to Michelle for her help and courteous attitude setting an appointment for repairs to my unit.

This is a lengthy review but trust me- you need to read it to understand why we rate Hobbs Mechanical so highly. I do not often give reviews as it is hard to find honest, hard working, and cost reasonable workmanship and rarely do I give bad reviews when I am to cheap or lazy to fix something I can research or do myself.

My wife and I have had recurring issues with a new home heat pump that was damaging thermostats and other AC equipment. Prior to calling Hobbs we had used two other well known companies that could not find the true problem. They made temporary fixes that I felt would not work... and their fixes did not.

Finally our system went out again and we decided to call Hobbs Mechanical. My wife made the initial call and was told that someone could be out at the house the same day!! Sydney, whom I found out is very knowledgeable, arrived at our home and went over the problems with my wife. He quickly located a damaged item and replaced it. He also noticed the strange amperage problems occurring and was confused, as had been everyone else. He ended up calling Jeff who showed up to help. They both worked late into the early evening before making a temporary fix and scheduling to come back in the morning. We at least had cool air blowing. Sydney came back the next day after finishing another job and he attempted to locate the problem...there were way to many pieces to the puzzle that had to be eliminated. To his dismay he ended up not being able to fully fix it and said he would return. On the third day I spoke with Jeff Hobbs , who from the start, stated he would work with us, make sure it was fixed, and be fair about the price because it was something he wanted to solve. He had never seen anything like it in 20+ years. Jeff came out and I went through everything with him- you know... the husbands point of view. His puzzle solving skills worked and my wife and I are happy to say that Hobbs Mechanical can do it... and do it right!!

As stated before I rarely give reviews; however Jeff’s company Hobbs Mechanical is rated 5 stars in my opinion. I’ve used others. Got ripped off and still had the original problem. Jeff and Sydney worked until the found the problem. Fixed it and were very reasonable on costs. If you’ve made it this far... don’t search anymore. Just call Hobbs Mechanical and they will provide you with great service, knowledgeable and friendly staff, and top notch service. Thank you Jeff and Sydney!

The Hobbs Mechanical team professionally installed our new HVAC system and had to handle a difficult situation with our low attic roof.

Was searching online for a nearby HVAC company and came across Hobbs! Never heard of them and although I had reservations thought I would give them a try. The technician showed up on time, was very friendly and professional, and was very knowledgeable of his work and most of all honest. I was very pleased with the work and look forward to doing business real soon with Hobbs.

Tech was a nice guy, they worked around my schedule which is always a plus. Had them come out to my aunt's house which is having issues, pulled the capacitor and said he recommended replacing it - no big deal, had the same done plus a top off on my Freon 3 years ago at my house which ran me ~$200 for the two. Didn't expect the bill to be $350+ pre-military discount for less than 30 minutes in and out to install a $20 part.
