I've had Modern Mechanical come to our newly bought house several times now under a Home Warranty we purchased at settlement. First to replace a garbage disposal that bombed out in the first thirty days. Given their excellent service and the technician's skill / attitude, I signed an HVAC service contract with them. More recently, they replaced a gas hot water heater that began to leak from the bottom seal. Every technician was polite, took time to explain the situation and answer questions, provide alternatives and pricing, etc. Very happy to have gone with them. Good folks. I just wish they weren't located so far away - I'm sure their techs wish it was closer, too.
UPDATE 06 JUNE 2016: Charlie B. came out to the house yesterday in response to my call regarding an A/C unit not cooling. As is consistently the case with Modern Mechanical's techs, Charlie was polite, patient, an competent. He quickly diagnosed the problem, provided a quote, and I'm set for MM to schedule the date for the repair.
UPDATE 14 MAY 2019: Well, all good things must come to an end. As we prepared to sell our home I realized MM had never closed out the county permits for both a gas furnace installation (replacing electric) and installation of solar panels. I had flagged this last summer as still being open. Three months after I contacted them in February to emphasize the urgency, MM has not yet submitted the information to Ffx Co in order to schedule the final inspection, holding up other inspections too. We are supposed to close next week. We, too, serve our country and are trying to work this from our overseas duty location. We really need Shawn's help to prioritize this.

Was referred to this company by the home warranty company that has the policy for my house when the air conditioning went out completely. They could not get anyone out until the next day (I understand with the heat there is high demand for service). The technician that came was very good and diagnosed the issue and sent the information to his company to send to the warranty company. Here is the issue. Going on 3 days now since the service call and One Hour has not even sent information to the warranty company so they cannot authorize any work, thus no air conditioning in the middle of summer. Calls to One Hour to find status were met with vague statements that they might have it by the end of the week. This is all after paying them $100 for the service call. Had to find an alternative company that was responsive. If you don't want to provide service using the warranty then don't work with the warranty company and put customers through the pain by taking money and not following through. I am going to at least seek a refund

My first time with Modern Mechanical, and I will definitely be calling them again. From the first contact through Yelp, setting up a next-day appointment, and then having the job completed, all done in less than 24 hours. And the plumber, Mike W., was a true master. My house is 100 years old, and the job I asked him to do was a plumber's nightmare-galvanized pipe and copper in a tiny crawl space. Mike arrived on time and had the job completed in a snap. The technician was courteous but quick to find expensive repairs required unrelated to the actual problem I called about which was the inducer motor. He got out a fancy camera and took pictures of the heat exchanger which he said had a crack in it and was a fume hazard. Then he shut off our system saying it was too dangerous without the required repairs. Our furnace was working fine and producing heat - just noisy. I looked online and saw that there is "heat exchanger crack" scam by HVAC technicians with fancy cameras. He also said I needed a new return. Very fishy. I'm getting a second opinion.

In January 2016, Charlie did a very complete inspection of the furnace in my home and explained the reasons for why it was failing. He was very professional and worked on the problem as long as was required. He provided a lot of detail in his explanation of how the furnace was operating. Excellent service.
Excellent service from Joey U. He was very knowledgeable and professional. He took the time to explain the items he was installing. Also, he arrived within the promised time window and called 15 minutes before arrival. I will definitely call Modern Mechanical in the future.

We had our HVAC system checkup last week. Our service technician was George. George was very professional as he went about his business of testing and cleaning our air handler and motor. He passed on a few good tips on what we could do to help make our equipment last longer.

Our furnace quit working on us during the single digit weather (Jan. 2, 2018). I called Modern Mechanical and another company, but Modern Mechanical was able to come out the same day. The very next day our new furnace was installed. The guys were polite, clean, and made so little noise that I forgot they were there. I definitely recommend them to anyone who is caught in an emergency.
