I signed up for one of the HVAC service plans that Modern Mechanical/One Hour provides and had a technician out for a checkup and service. The service tech arrived on-time and was professional and neat. I went with Modern Mechanical/One Hour services plan you pay for it monthly and it provided benefits not founds in other plans. Plus they are easy to do business with.

Strong recommendation for Modern Mechanical based upon our experience with the purchase/installation of a humidifier. The technician, Abel, was on time. He and his colleague, Gary, performed a clean installation. They explained the operation and maintenance of the humidifier. They were pleasant and responsive. This alone would have warranted a positive review.

But Abel and Gary went further, patiently and carefully responding to other HVAC questions we asked about our new place. When we requested recommendations, they offered them. No hard sell whatsoever -- an impressive display of professionalism.

We will call upon Modern Mechanical again.

My furnace stopped working and they were very responsive sending a guy out first thing the next morning. I received an estimate with a great price on a new Lennox gas furnace which I had installed the next day. They did a great job and I would highly recommend them.

We had a mixed experience with Modern Mechanical. They were very responsive and showed up early. The tech was also very nice. They charge $100 dispatch fee which covers a diagnostic of the initial problem. Our situation was on the more minor side, basically had trouble with our dampers and getting the right amount of air to flow to the right areas of our townhouse.

After he figured out the problem, he spent the next 45 minutes moving some levers up and down and running a couple tests. When he was done, he told us it was an additional $300. At no point did he tell us what the charge would be for him to go ahead and fix the problem until after he was done.

So for an hour spent at our house essentially just moving some damper levers around, it cost us about $400. I found that to be very expensive all things considered. I called the company and explained why I felt we were overcharged. They were very nice and understood my frustration. After speaking with the manager, he waived the $100 dispatch fee and an additional $25 off the $300 service fee. Although I appreciated this, it still seemed pretty expensive for such a small amount of time and quick fix. I was told the $300 service fee was a minimum for any service done, which was also not explained to use at any point until after the fact.

I don't know what the going rate is these days for fixing some dampers, but their rate seems to be pretty high. They were very receptive to my concern, addressed it, and we received friendly and timely service.

I’ve had a warranty with modern mechanical for over three years. Gary c. Has been the best and most professional hvac technician to visit. Things I appreciated the most were good solid advice and he didn’t mind explaining things that I asked about as he was working. A positive person who seemed to really care about his profession. Those are hard characteristics to find in technicians. I was considering canceling the warranty based on the past couple technicians but knowing I can request Gary again will keep me as a customer. I’d say with modern mech 1 in 5 technicians are great, 1 bad, other 3 average. The very first technician to visit was also very good but he hasn’t been sent back. I didn’t know a specific person could be requested. I would recommend customers try this company if you are willing to be patient to find one of the better technicians and if I am actually able to make specific requests. Again Gary c. Was very good. I hope modern mech is able to use him to mentor some of the other technicians.

Bought a new HVAC unit two years ago from One Hour Heating & AC and have had to have 9 service visits in that time. No one was able to fix it and we went through many days of either sweltering heat or frigid cold in our home due to the heating/cooling simply not working. However, one of their service tech's - Adam K - might have saved their reputation and the ONLY reason I'm giving a 3 star rating. He came out and diagnosed the issue as a faulty compressor and spent the better part of a day this Memorial Day weekend replacing our outside unit in the heat. He was courteous and explained everything that was going on and (hopefully) fixed our issues for good. Modern Mechanical/One Hour Heating & AC needs to give Adam a raise because he saved your reputation with this customer!

I've been using Modern Mechanical for the last 3-4 years for my HVAC system maintenance and last fall also added their plumbing maintenance program. The maintenance contracts are very reasonably priced and the team members are always courteous and do not try to push you into anything. I finally had to bite the bullet and replace my HVAC. Process was easy and simple. I had the pleasure to work with Luis M, Kenny C., and Ben H. They were all professional, flexible, and great at explaining everything. Additionally they work with a credit partner to help you get financing with no interest for a certain period of time depending on the work and with the exception of one verification call, they handled everything.

This company truly operates in the vision of serving their customers and I would recommend them hands down!

On install day, Erwin and Paul came to our house and I could not have asked for a better team to install the new system. They showed up on time, were very courteous, professional and did everything I asked without hesitation. Their workmanship is without a doubt the best out there. Modern Mechanical has a good name because of employees like Erwin and Paul. These gentlemen deserve a raise for the hard work they do!

DO NOT HIRE THEM! Here is what happened. Never wrote bad reviews like this but I felt consumers need to be aware.
Hired Marine Plumbing (google search) and they did diagnostics with tankless water heater mananufacturer, Noritz, tech support. Parts were ordered but they didn’t know how to repair. (cost $130)

2. Hired M.E. Flow and tech told me that it’ll take at least 6 hours to fix and cost will be $1200 to $1800 (cost $30 travel fee)

3. Hired Modern Mechanical and tech, Andrew, said he can replace parts in 2 hours for $750. Told him to go ahead but he stopped after hour and half later and said that unit needs every single parts including washers, bolts, etc

a. He never mentioned anything about this at the beginning and I asked him if he discussed this with tech support. He said tech support had attitude so he hung up

b. Called tech support asked them what happened. Tech support said they asked Andrew to take some pictures so they can see where the problem is and Andrew became angry and hung up

c. Andrew was lying. I had Heat exchange, Gas manifold, and fan motor but he only replaced gas manifold. He waked away with $750 and told me to replace instead of repair and cost of replacement labor will be $2200 and will deduct $750.

d. Called and talked to plumbing manager, Steven, but he said Andrew didn’t do anything wrong, however, he can come out to repair but will take hours meaning thousands of dollars.

4. Hired F.H. FURR and tech told me that it’ll cost too much to fix and recommended replacing ($0)

5. Hired John Nugent & sons and tech said the same thing that F.H. FURR did ($0)

6. Received brand new unit from Noritz and called Modern Mechanical but they told me replacement cost is $2580 and not $2200

7. Hired Atlas Plumbing and 2 tech came out to replace in 2 hours for $760 including permit.

They are dishonest, incompetent and have no shame.

Update.
Filed complaint with BBB and this people said they'll refund me if I remove all the reviews I posted. I let them keep it because it's worth it to let others know.

Bob from Mr. Sparky came out to replace some light switch panels. Although the cost of the panels was much more than the ones I got from Home Depot (which were not the correct switches) they now have a warranty and I know they are installed correctly. Bob was very helpful and took a look around the house to see if there were any other potential electrical issues with the house. Highly recommended.
