I used Hal Watson (HW) for over 15 years and they installed one of my units at my old house. Over the years I have referred many family and friends to them. In recent years I have noted a change in service quality and drop in customer service. I moved last year and had HW inspect the AC as part of an annual service. the Tech told me some duct work needed to be resealed to the upstairs system. I had him do the work. He spent 10 minutes and used some duct tape, but charged me $75 for labor and $25 in materials above the other charges for the visit. I sent a message to the company that the charged seemed a bit unreasonable for 10 minutes of time and a few strips of duct tape, and I got no response. A year later my capacitor went out. As part of the visit they also did my annual system inspection. On the same unit, the Tech told me there was some duct work that needed to be resealed. When I said that is the same unit he did a year ago he indicated it was some different duct work. I asked how that would not have been done in the prior year when he spent only 10 minutes. Clearly an up-charge attempt. Then he did repair the capacitor. The charge for the repair (after my 10% maintenance discount) was nearly $370. I indicated that seemed very high (I had those replaced in the past and that far exceeded normal inflation). After he left I called two other companies and the charge was quoted as $225 to $260, all in. I called Hal Watson and specifically noted both situations (the attempt to redo similar work and the overpriced capacitor) to the Company representative. The person said I should tell the owner. I requested she tell him and he can feel free to call me if he cares. I never received a call. Just last week my other unit capacitor went out and I used another very reputable company in the Woodlands. They repaired it for over $100 less than the one done by Hal Watson a few weeks earlier. Over 35% more. Hal Watson used to be a top notch company and I referred them to several friends and family. They have recently completely changed to be less customer oriented and doing what ever they can to uncharge and overprice. In both cases I first gave them a chance to talk to me and they chose not too. I strongly suggest folks find another option for AC services. This is not something I take lightly as I am usually very loyal when I find a good provider, as I did with HW for over 15 years. But, in this case, I cannot stay loyal and feel the changes are severe enough in service delivery that I am writing this review. I hope Tyler changes his current direction of the Company and its service back to what Hal Watson build prior to him and why I used them for so long.
Buyers beware. I will never use this company again. After 10 years and them buying out my Efficient Air due to the owners retirement. This whole thing has been a bad experience. They are like 40% higher than anyone around The Woodlands. $496.00 to install a $40.00 capacitor. Woodlands AC Heating afterwards quoted me $280.00, including service call. I’ll never use them again. On top of all of this I called at 1:00pm after the service to complain about the ridicules expense and nobody called me back. Just a bad operation. Don’t do it.
The repair person representing the company was timely, prepared, and informative on the units he serviced. He was clear on the costs of the repair and the spring and fall maintenance we were purchasing. He DID NOT try to sell us unnecessary or additional equipment or services. Which is a real plus for us! Nice job!
Hal air conditioner is so amazing!! I called and they sent out Thomas who was so professional and he had the best customer service. He even picked up after all the mess which I really do appreciate. The prices were more than reasonable. Thank you Thomas
From the lady who answers the phone to the technicians; they are all wonderful. The technician is always on time. I’ve used them for 5 years and I’ve always s been very happy with their service. Last spring my A/C needed a new part. I don’t remember what, but I believe the repair was excellent and the charge was very fair. My furnace, I believe I s 16 years old. It’s the original furnace and I was afraid I might even need a new one this year. He said it’s fine and has used about half of its life. I was so happy to hear that.
My air conditioner stopped cooling so I had Hal Watson come out to diagnose the issue. The tech they sent didn’t have the right tool to be able to check my Freon so not only did I pay the diagnostic charge on the first visit but they made me pay it again on the second visit. My system was installed in 2019 so it’s not brand new nor is it old so as an HVAC company, they should come with the tools needed to just check the Freon level and I shouldn’t have to pay twice because their tech didn’t have the right tool. Once they quoted me what it would cost to replace, it was double the price for what I was quoted thru Airteam. Unfortunately, I can not recommend Hal Watson.
These guys did a wonderful job for me! Vickie and Justin took great care in getting the parts quickly and we we’re up and running ahead of schedule! I highly recommend Hal Watson!
I bought an annual check up package for summer a/c &winter heater. They checked a/c,I canceled heater. They didn't refund for heater.1.Staff works unprofessional, disrespect. 2.Some technicians are not friendly. 3.Some hidden charges, overcharges.
I had an excellent experience with Hal Watson AC services. Their customer service is very courteous and helpful. It was easy to schedule a service appointment. Their AC technician, Justin was at my house same day in 30 mintues after I set up the appointment! He was very knowledgeable and courteous. He diagnosed and fixed the issue with the bad circuit board and thermostat and had our system working quickly. The price is also reasonable. I highly recommend them for all your HVAC needs.
