The Blue Star techs earned 5 stars weeks ago and earned 10 stars this weekend!! In all my drama. frustration and near hysteria both on the phone and in person, all Blue Star employees, especially Carlos and Eric, were absolute professionals and assured me I was now a part of their family and that they would take care of me. They did!
In early June, my old workhorse AC system, R2, bit the dust. I interviewed and received quotes from a couple places and chose Blue Star. The tech who described and recommended the new system, Carlos, explained a lot to me and even talked with my "Mr Fix It" brother-in-law over the phone to answer some questions.
Within a few days, the complete new system was installed (in less than 3 hours) and running. The only problem was that it seemed to run almost all the time. Then, a power outage turned it off and when I reset the breaker, it took almost a whole day to cool.
A few days later I noticed that, despite the thermostat being set at 73, the temp read 77. I called Blue Star and a tech came out right away. He worked both outside and inside and got the system running again. Unfortunately, this happened several more time over the next few weeks. During this time, the Blue Star tech made at least 3 4-hour service calls, trying everything from replacing a part on the inside unit, to adding insulation above the new inside unit, to carving out and installing an additional outtake vent - at no cost to me. They even lent me a window AC unit, just in case.
The AC manufacturer came out and examined the system and decided that the outside unit should be replaced. Within a few days the replacement unit was delivered, but, while installing it, the techs felt they needed to verify that, this time, there would be no more problems. So, they went up into the rather messy and dauntingly HOT attic to check out the situation.
Unable to even get to the spot above the inside unit, one tech, Carlos, found a kinked suction pipe!! The poor guy was definitely suffering from heat exhaustion by the time he climbed out of the attic. But, both he and Eric came back the next day and replaced that section of pipe - at no cost to me.
So far, so good - the house is cool, the AC is functioning as expected, and Blue Star doesn't quit until the problem is absolutely solved!
****Here I am again, telling you how great Blue Star techs are and repeating my 5 star rating! A couple days ago, May 29, 2018, my new AC unit stopped working! I called, the tech came out - friendly, personable Adam - and asked for details about what happened then explained his process for troubleshooting and that he was confident he'd get the unit up and working.
Adam was here about an hour and a half and, sure enough, the air was flowing again! He explained what he found - I am not a tech, so I can't be sure of the details - somehow the "cycle" time reset from the recommended 5 minutes to 1 minute. Well, a couple of days of that demand in upper 90s in Texas, the thing gave up. I say a couple days because I did have a power outage a few days before this happened.
Adam explained what to do if I noticed another power outage. He also cleaned both inside and outside coils (I have 3 shedding pets), checked electrical and it was just minutes before the house was back to a cool 70.
Our units are 28 years old and have had issues for years. Almost every company that came out to service our ac and furnace told us we had no choice but to replace everything with new equipment. Tony at Blue Star did a thorough inspection of the entire system, cleaned the units, and brought several items up to code. Our system is now safe and with regular annual service should last for many more years! Blue Star saved us thousands of dollars! We highly recommend Blue Star Heating and Air for your AC and heating needs!
We have been with Blue Star about year. Best company and employees EVER. We just had outside and inside units replaced, and are so thrilled with the service and quality of our units are GREAT. Love when before they come in they use shoe covers. Adam is The Best, Freindly, So knowledgeable and takes the time to explain everything. Marco is the BEST. He came out one evening to check everything again and he too explained everything to us. These two are an asset to the company. They do such good work. Weah was my technician. He was incredible. Performed the maintenance, identified a possible clog and went the extra mile to "blow" it out and get my system back to maximum efficiency. Provided pictures and possible improvements that were missed upon the installation of my system. Highly recommend and request Weah if possible.
The heater in our house wasn't working so I looked up heating and cooling companies in our area. That's when I came across a Blue Star and gave them a call.
Eric was the technician that met me at the house. He was very professional and straightforward. He explained to me that our unit was pretty old and on it's last leg, he also showed me some different options to fix the situation in the meantime.
It was a no pressure situation, he wasn't trying to make a quick buck. He didnt even bother to charge me for the service call. I will definitely be giving Blue star a call when it comes time to install a new unit in the house.
Weah was awesome! He was very knowledgeable and answered my various questions. I didn’t give 5-stars because my AC is now making a sound that it wasn’t before, but he told me to give it time and call them back if it continued to make the sound. I’ll be monitoring and calling them if needed. Will update review as needed.
I had Blue Star Heating and Air come check my Heating unit. Not only was the problem fixed efficiently, but cost effective as well. Compared to my past experiences with AC companies, they did an exceptional job fixing my AC and I would highly recommend them to anyone.
Very friendly & professional service. Showed me where previous HVAC people hadn't done what they are supposed to. Explained everything. Best part is they came out within hours of me calling.
Update on 4/8/2021 Andrew came out and installed my AC system and explained everything, showed up on time, and did EXCELLENT work!! I HIGHLY recommend AIR PROS! Make sure it's the correct ones at 1 877-6-AIRPROS.
Shawn Pettway was our technician and he was extremely professional and courteous to me my wife and child. He went above and beyond on trying to work with us. The only reason I can't give 5 stars is because the loan lenders interest rate could not beat my credit card rate. For the average American it was an okay rate- but it couldn't beat 9.9%. I will edit and update this rate after services are rendered. As it stands Shawn Pettway was excellent
Alan Ross (technician) came by today to do a check up on my new unit. He was on-time, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable about my system and how to keep it working at its' best. So happy I purchased from Blue Star!
