The A/C in my mothers home went out and we called Mike's A/C to diagnose. My mother is 89 years old. They made her pay $90 for the service call before they would have a technician go out which she did. The diagnosis was that she needed a new A/C which was no problem as we expected that based on the age of the unit. However, the technician recommended that we call around and get other bids as they were not very interested in doing the work. Their office called to follow up a few days later and we explained what happened and that we already called someone else and a new A/C was already installed. The lady was very sorry for what happened and did not offer to refund the $90 service call as good faith! Steer clear!!!
I guess these folks are too big for their britches! First, I called to make an appointment with them, described my issue, and was told they would be at my house between 10am and noon the following day. When no one showed up by noon, I called, only to be told there was no record of my appointment. (I should have just cancelled then) but they'd get someone out there later in the day. I asked them to have the tech call me with any questions or findings, but he didn't do that. Instead he told my daughter some vague story about a "motor" that needed to be replaced... (again I should have cancelled)... and no one called me. When I called them the next day, they didn't know how much it would cost to fix it, or how long it would take to get the magic motor. After two days of chasing them, I finally got a quote of $733...above and beyond the $90 they charged me for the privilege of having them come out. This seemed kind of high so I took the time to look up a local, smaller HVAC company and ask them a few questions. Long story shorter... the nice, honest local guy fixed my AC in an hour for $167!
So Mike's... Enjoy your $90. I certainly won't be recommending you to anyone I know.
Our AC unit had been out for approximately 3 weeks after dealing with a competitor who did not know what they were doing. After it was explained to us that they didn't really know what they were doing, they passed the baton to Mike's.
Our technician Chris was out to us within 3 hours of the initial phone call to them. He immediately diagnosed multiple problems, part that were from lack of proper maintenance and some that were caused by attempts at the previous repair. He also pointed out that with our previous repair person, a $65 part was ordered when a $5 part would have more than sufficed. Our AC had been out for 3 weeks, and within 5 hours of calling Mike's, it was back on.
We greatly appreciated their speed of service, and actually figuring out the problem rather than leaving us hanging again and again. We will be using Mike's again.
Thank you Mike's Heating & Air! Our A/C unit stop working, we called early evening and they were able to schedule a service call the next morning. Jason did an excellent job diving into the equipment to find the problem and repaired it. They had parts on the truck on hand and got it fixed without all common emotions you hear from other repair places. They understand customers just want it to work, and to speak reasonably about your equipment. Avoiding the negative comments about how your system is junk, their own system is spotless and you should know better. The staff take pride who they work for and get down to business. Thank You !
Unfortunately Mikes Heating and Air let us down. The service man misdiagnosed the problem with our unit. After no return calls about a quote we ordered the part and had it installed only to find out that original part was just fine. We paid the tech when he was here then they double billed us as well. Months of trying to have the situation made right with no success. Not even a return call. Pretty disappointing.
Mike’s did not show up when they were supposed to, then when they showed up they brought the wrong part. They then said they would order it and they waited 5 days before even attempting to order the part. We are not happy with their service at all.
Had a service done today on our heating and cooling system. Duane was my service pro and he did a great job. Very knowledgeable and completed the job quickly. He also had a few helpful tips and was very friendly.
Duane did a great job for us. Diagnosed the problem quickly, ordered the needed part, and when it arrived he came back and did the installation. He was easy to talk to , answered all my questions, and gave a great overview of what the problem was. Highest recommendation!
I was very impressed by Duane at Mike's Heating and Air Conditioner. He was very knowledgeable and polite. He found the problem right away. I called this business for a second opinion as the former business, Greg's Heating and Air told me that they could not find where the connection was missing between my heat pump and the thermostat or thermos. And they could do some diagnostic testing that could cost up to $900 and may or may not work to find the problem, or they could sell and install a whole new heat pump unit for $3200. I opted for a second opinion. Duane found the problem right away. The contactor in the box outside was put in upside down and it was low on freon. The contactor was not upside down until Greg's Heating and Air came to look at it and give it an estimate. That was the problem with the disconnection between the heat pump and the thermostat or thermos. It did not cost $900 to figure out the problem with Duane. Greg's Heating and Air also did not check something so obvious as the freon level. I feel very grateful to Duane. I now have air conditioning at a total cost of $332.00 for diagnosis, parts, repair, and travel and the unit tested as running at 21% difference between air coming in and air pumping out, which Duane said is as good as it gets. I am now sitting in a cool house and the cost was very minimal. I am so glad I got a second opinion and that it was Duane. He was very knowledgeable and spoke in terms that I could understand. I will definitely use this business for any future problems or improvements.
