2005 Builder-installed 2nd floor system went out a few years ago. I had so many problems with the same brand on the first floor that I really wanted to have a Trane. The repair Company that I called did not sell Trane brand, so I called Cape Fear. Prompt, clean and otherwise excellent installation experience.
18 months ago I did not have a maintenance contract but they showed up within a couple of hours away for a first floor air-conditioning issue in the hot mid summer weather and quickly fixed it.
Since then I have had maintenance contracts and the fellas that come out put on cloth shoe covers like medical professionals when they come inside.
They are very knowledgeable when I have asked questions about the systems and they spend a lot of time cleaning and checking the systems every six months so that we are not caught off guard by a breakdown. (I think it’s in the neighborhood of 45 minutes to an hour on each system.)
Their technician James has been twice for maintenance Contract service and he is excellent! I can’t say enough good things about him!

Rodney and Michael did a great job working together to fix my carrier heat pump.
The phone operators for their office were extremely helpful and always followed up at the appropriate times.
They also have good prices and quality technicians.

I became familiar with Cape Fear in July , 2022. I have a 3.5 year old Trane unit that to say the least was a problem child from the time it was installed. 12 visits by four different companies including the installer did not solve my 3.5 year old problem. Enter Rodney Pope of Cape Fear. One diagnostic visit and a next day return with the proper part and my troubles were over in the month of "July". I have since needed further service on the same unit and had the same great experience with Rodney Pope. He is a credit to Cape Fear and to his HVAC industry.

Can’t say enough good things about Cape Fear and our technician, James. Our AC stopped cooling on a Friday afternoon when the temp was 95 outside. James from Cape Fear was here an hour later. He quickly found a bad capacitor and took time to show me the reading on the bad one and new one. He checked our refrigerant and compressor, which he had to cool down because it has overheated. All else was well. An hour later our house is cooling down. Timely, professional and knowledgeable service call.

The HVAC in my old house ran constantly in both summer and winter but never hit the temperatures set on the thermostat. The electricity bills were exorbitant. I called Cape Fear Air to assess the problem. As it turns out there were many, many issues with the original installation with uninsulated ducts, ducts of the wrong size, way too many ducts, insufficient air return, and more. Tom and Tony came out to remediate the problems and did an outstanding job. The HVAC works 100% better, the house is comfortably cooled/heated as required but the heat pumps do not need to run all the time. Electric bills dropped immediately to half what they were before. Would definitely use this company again.
