Technician tried to rip us off by telling us we had a leak in our coil, but when we had another HVAC guy come out, they charged the system with nitrogen over a 6 hour period and it never lost psi. After charging the system again, the HVAC unit works like a champ. When SBS came out to charge the system with nitrogen, they were able to get it to produce a hissing noise as if it had a leak, but if the leak were that bad, the system would not have held a 6 hour charge from the second HVAC guy. In essence, our first quote from SBS would have cost us $7,000 with our American Home Shield warranty, but because we got a second opinion, we only had to pay $400 for labor and refrigerant. Don't let SBS do that to you.

There is nothing Better about this company. We had a scheduled visit for today between 1 and 5. At 12:36, I received a text that the technician was enroute. At 12:50, I received a text that he had left. My scheduled window was from 1-5. I made numerous attempts to call and they were always routed to voice mail. When I finally spoke to Ashley, she had no solutions and no apologies. And no reason why someone would show up prior to the appt time. Her frustration with her inability to make a logical explanation for their lack of professional etiquette led her to hang up on me. They should be renamed SBS—Significantly Below Standards.

Hunter is a pro. He is polite and knows his stuff. Able to diagnose and repair A/C in 30 minutes.

Would hire again.

Called on Wednesday. Came to repair A/C the next day.

Couldn't ask for anything more.

Plus 60 day warranty on repairs.

Matthew and Drake arrived this morning to look at a list of issues identified during a pre-season HVAC tune-up I had to get from an out-of-network contractor from my warranty. Matthew and Drake came in ready and eager to work. Matthew asked what the issues were and they got to work. They confirmed the issues, fixed what they could on the spot, and made arrangements to get the parts to fix everything else. Matthew also answered some of my general questions and gave me an estimate without trying to pressure me to make a decision right away. They were in and out in a timely manner and replaced everything (attic ladder, turned off light switch, replaced panel, etc.). I appreciate their service and feel confident that they will fix all of the other issues once the parts come in!

I initially called about a leaking AC unit. They came out to look at it and felt our pan needed to be replaced. They scheduled a time and two guys came to my house to replace it. They also replaced another part in the pan that is supposed to turn the system off if water were to go above a specific height. I was told this part was 129. In the mist of replacing the pan they blew a transformer and had to go out and get a new one. Suddenly they looked at their pricing sheet for the part and it was now 169. Clearly I paid for the transformer and the part but I was ok with it, I just wanted the leak to stop so it wouldn't continue to damage our ceiling. They came back "fixed" the transformer, put my unit on fan and left. I have two young children, my husband, my elderly mom was here, our dog and myself living here. My mom mentioned how hot it was getting and within an hour we were sweating. We tried to turn the unit on but nothing so I called SBS back. The same guys came back out and looked at it. Basically told me they were only install guys so someone else will have to come back out. Ok no problem. The general manager came out looked for two hours plus couldn't find the issue. Came up with it was a short fuse in the wall and they would talked to American Home Shield about everything and get the parts overnighted so on Monday or Tuesday we would have it. LOL what a joke! We had to call and check in. They never called us! The girl at the desk would say it's not in yet and can't tell us when it would come in or tell us it should be in tomorrow and I'll call you. Quote "sometimes it takes one to two months for parts to come in" unquote. You gotta be kidding me I know we are in a pandemic but overnighting something should not take that long and for people to be ok with not having AC for that long with a family is a joke! We tried to stay patient. I wasn't asking for a lot just to fix the wrong they created. It's been a week and half now without AC. We are living at my mom's until I can get someone to actually fix their mess. Wouldn't recommend to anyone!!!

Your employee Hunter had excellent customer service!
He maintained his COVID protections and performed all the necessary services in a timely fashion.
I don’t know that he could have done a better job.
I would recommend this company to anybody.

Matthew arrived at the house late in the afternoon with shoe booties and eager to find the problem. I advised him we were anxious to get service to the A/C and had been waiting over a week (no fault of his).

He went around the house and found a tripped breaker in the electrical panel box and a blown fuse outside. He added 3 pounds of freon to the outside unit and changed one of the air filters upstairs. He then went in the attic to search for a leak. He said it was around the coil and that I need with a new Coil or a new HVAC system since mine was old.

Matthew was efficient, quick, did not complain, and was still had another job after mine! I was impressed with his work ethic, his willingness to explain and answer my questions and would highly recommend him and his company (which got me in the day after I called). Great employees like Matthew will keep businesses alive.

SBS-NC replaced one of our two heating and ac units on Nov 25, 2019. The installers, Brian and Mason, were prompt, efficient, neat, polite, helpful, and extremely knowledgeable to the point I felt we received above and beyond quality service. Brian took time to educate me on the new units and what was needed for upkeep. We will be getting SBS's service contract to insure the unit's performance is optimized year around. The unit is running beautifully. I highly recommend SBS for any current or future heating and ac needs.

Received a quote for new a/c unit ($7100) and was told I needed 3 pages of extras that my insurance would not cover. I asked them to break down the cost but they said that was not their policy...American Home Shield (my homeowners insurance) will only pay $1100. The extras amount to around $350 if I bought online...I emailed SBS-NC several times about this w/no response! I didn't want to give them one star but had to. After reading other complaints, it seems I'm not the only one dealing with shady business dealings between SBS and American Home Shield...seems they are in it together.
