The AC in our rental home has had ZERO issues in the 2 years we have lived in this house, but i wanted to get a tune-up just to ensure everything was going to continue to work well since summer is around the corner.
Technician was friendly, and did the tune-up quickly, but I found it strange that he made the same comment twice about how our unit “might go out this summer”.

As I stated above, our AC has worked great the last couple summers. Landlord hasn’t indicated any issues either. It is an older unit and the Tech said everything was working well, minus using more energy than a new unit would, but I’m feeling suspicious because of those comments. Especially since he did not indicate what could be failing in the notes to cause the AC to “go out this summer”.

The tech also said he “didn’t believe in air filters” and was recommending to have the home owner replace our AC unit with some unit that apparently has purple lights to disinfect. Not interested in that at all, and with 2 cats, air filters help significantly. Might have just been trying to make a sale but now I’m worried he did something that might encourage our unit to go out this summer like he stated multiple times would happen, without indicating what could cause that, and suggesting a repair rather than waiting for the entire thing to fail and get a big sale on a new AC unit. He left, and I’ve been anxious ever since. Really hoping the tech was wrong.
