Before meeting with R & D, I had met with 3 of the larger HVAC companies in Lexington. They were all pushy sales people who were ready to sell me an HVAC unit and move on. Then I met Allen at R & D, he was so different. He took the time to really explain things and he explained the layout of my attic and the install process. Allen explained that my 19 year old unit was smaller than the units made today which are larger in size. And my 19 year old home with this original unit presented a slight challenge. As typical for many homes still with its original HVAC unit, the home was partially built and the HVAC unit was installed during construction and the home was built around the unit. In order for the types of units the other companies had quoted, and based on all of Allen’s measurements those units would not fit through the access point to the attic unless some of the trusses were cut. Obviously, I didn’t want that to happen and neither did Allen. But Allen explained the alternative ways for them to enter the attic and he worked very hard to find me a great HVAC unit that would fit into the smaller space. I’m thankful for Allen and the crew from R & D. None of the other companies mentioned the access issue with the trusses and who knows what would have happened. They may have been cut in the install process and would have never told me, which could have left me with issues down the road. Allen was a true problem solver and showed he really cared about making sure I had a good system and making sure the structural integrity of my house was not compromised!

I recently had a HVAC system installed by R&D. Allen and Randy were helpful in the planning and installation. The system is working great. I would strongly recommend R&D Indoor Comfort.

I want to start by saying, the ONLY reason we are dealing with this abhorrent company is that we have to. This is the company our home warranty has made us use, otherwise, I'd rather hire some person off the street to fix our unit.
Our problems with this company actually started last year at the beginning of the winter season. We needed to make an appt. to have someone check our heat. We do that. Day comes, and no one shows up. So, we call. Somehow, we're nowhere on their schedule. This has actually turned into a running problem with good ole R&D. I don't remember how the actual appt. went. The tech, Tim, was nice enough. But, you can tell they work this guy to death.
Fast forward to now. Summer. Hot and gross, right? Now the A/C upstairs isn't blowing cold, just warm air. So, here we go again. We contact our warranty company. They say, call R&D. We do. They say they're so busy. Hey, it's the beginning of the hot season! Can't make it to us for a couple weeks. OK, so our upstairs is now dead to us, I guess.
The day comes for the appt., and no one shows up! So, we call. And, again, we are nowhere on the schedule. But, they can come in a couple days this time. Fine, whatever, just please come! The day comes, no one shows up. I figure, surely not again. So, I call. This time, the guy is just running really behind. Hey, I get that. No biggie. Except here we are waiting for this guy. No phone call to say he's going to be late. And now it's getting late in the evening. We have a young daughter I need to think about feeding and getting to bed.
The guy finally shows and it's Tim again. Nice guy, again. Seems like he's being worked to death, again. He checks everything, says we're low on freon. Hopes it isn't a leak. He fills us up, and is on his way.
Not a week goes by, and the air upstairs is out again. It's the weekend now, but I call anyway hoping for a miracle. No, they're not open, but I do get an answer from the on call guy. Tim, as it turns out. He says he can either come out and we get charged (charged!!!!) double, or he can put us down to have someone come out on Monday. I tell him it's OK, we've waited this long, really, we can wait until Monday.
Well, I learned my lesson this time. I call Monday. Just to make sure, of course, that we have an appt. And guess what? Nope. No appt. for us. In fact, the lady that answers tells me Tim can't even touch the schedule, that he's told people before he would put them down, and he shouldn't be doing that! Naughty Tim. So, they're booked solid, of course. Can't get someone here for, I wanna say, a week and a half.
I actually call this time about midway to the appt. date, just for my peace of mind. Yes, we still have the appt., and yes, the lady sounded like I was wasting her time.
Appt. day comes around. Not Tim though. I wasn't at the house for this one. But I am told by my husband that now, we need a part for something in our attic. That R&D will contact our warranty company for us to let them know, and then they will contact us with whatever they decide. Because I guess using a warranty company means you have no A/C rights.
Anyway, we get an email from the warranty company saying the part has been ordered. So far, so good. I called R&D to see about making an appt. The lady tells me she can't put us on the schedule because the part hasn't gotten there yet. Makes sense, sure, but come on. They can't just put us down on good faith at this point?
I don't know when exactly, but my husband gets a voicemail from R&D. The part has arrived! We can call and make our app., which we do. Today was the day. The guy was an hour late, but he did show up... But, without the part or any knowledge of said part. Apparently the person I made the appt. with is new, and didn't know to make it the right type of appt.
So, here it is Mon. and we can't get another appt. until Fri.
My husband is told they only have three techs. No mention as to why the tech that came today couldn't just go get the part and keep our appt. for today. Seems like the right thing to do.

Crossing my fingers for Fri.

Great service. They were fast, friendly, and did a nice job fixing our Heat Pump. We were impressed from the way we were taken care of over the phone to their service technician and the detail in which they provided their diagnosis.
