We purchased our first home and were new to oil heat/hot water.... we had been told stories about oil shortages and people scrambling to find oil during harsh winters.... we decided to play it safe and look for a company with auto delivery and a service contract, not knowing much about the Boiler our new home. A family member suggested Petro and we had met a representative at a local home show so we figured we'd give them a try. --My first sign to run should have been before signing a contract when I spoke with 2 different salesmen and one was rather aggressively trying to put me on a budget plan that wasn't going to work for me.
Once I stupidly signed a contract, I was told I would receive my first oil delivery in 2 days -- fast forward 5 days still no oil and my tank was dangerously low. I made a call and eventually someone came out with 10gallons to "hold me over" for my delivery which would "likely be within the next week". They did come out and fill the tank after a couple more calls and days later....
We also signed up for a service contract and were told over 500 parts are covered and labor. We eventually had an issue (on a weekend of course) and when the tech came out he walked in, looked at the tape my husband had put on the Boiler to hold it over and said "well you did all I was gonna do" told us the repair was "definitely covered" but didn't have the tools with him so someone would be out Monday to fix it. (He also pointed to a coil and said that is definitely on its way out so eventually, you're probably going to call me to replace that soon). The days came and went and no one came or called us back like the tech had said they would. Going days with no hot water, we finally called another repair company to actually fix the issue. I contacted Petro to have them cover to cost of the repair, they ask me to send the invoice from the repair company. I get an email back stating the part described in the invoice is not covered under the agreement (even though the tech said at least twice while looking at it that it was "definitely covered"). I emailed back stating how upset I was that I was told it was covered and now this rep is saying its not. No reply back.
A few days ago that coil he mentioned finally broke, so we called them to come out again-- once again, not covered under the service agreement. This time I was actually given a quote on the cost of fixing this issue (and an attempted upsale on another part 😒). The tech couldn't give me an answer on when it would be fixed either "maybe tomorrow but probably the end of next week". I decided to find another local company that quoted me at much less and came out in 2 days to perform the work -- WITHOUT A SERVICE CONTRACT and "discount".
I will never sign another contract with Petro or suggest them to ANYONE --

I had a boiler leak and had it fixed 2hrs after I called. Amazing! Customer service was great and they even sent me a tracking app to see where the tech was prior to my appt. Work was done well and quickly. Very happy!

There needs to be better communication between driver and appointment maker(receptionist). I called and the technician didn't come until an hour later. When the person on the phone said the cleaner will be at my house around 1pm. The cleaner arrived at 2:20pm. There should've been communication to if there was going to be a delay. Will not be calling to use their services anymore

Called yesterday early morning with a furnace issue. Said someone would be there between ten and twelve. As usual they were there when promised. Needed a part that was not available until the next day. Repair person and part was here, repair made and he was gone before lunch the next day. Have always found them prompt, experienced, neat, and friendly. This company is everything you want from a oil company. Have not used their other services

Being a designer in the construction industry I am very familiar with with HVAC systems. Moving from Lyme to Guilford my current Vendors who I have worked years with on new homes and remodels were out of their reach. So I had to start fresh and met with several vendors when it came to upgrading our AC and furnace systems. Petro being a large company, I had my reservations as if they would treat us as well as our previous own vendors. From start to meeting with their professionals my doubt was relieved. From start to finish Petro from all perspectives was on top of our projects with excellent brands; Trane and Energy Kinetics products. Their service teams after the start-up were well trained and knowledgeable. We couldn't be happier with the end results. I highly recommend them for your project.

Petro customer service has been superior. The staff is friendly and helpful and the service technicians are extremely knowledgeable. I had an issue with my hot water and the technician was very thorough with his explanation and answered any questions I had. The hot water problem is solved. Based on my positive experience, I highly recommend Petro.

Our customer service rep Surendra was great!! He took the time to review all out options and was very knowledgeable in answering our questions. He even did a three-way call for my significant other to be on the line as well!! Our service tech Dylan was awesome!! He was super down to earth and explained so much on our system and how it works!!

Petro oil is the most expensive oil company in the area, STAY AWAY FROM THEM. I was a customer for several years. Their phone based billing system does not work in sync with their online system, which leads to double charging and hours of frustrating phone calls trying to correct issues that should not be issues. I finally cancelled my contract with them after being charged nearly $4.50 per gallon (double the current average pricing) for my last heating oil delivery. After two months, my CC is still being charged by them online. THEY ARE NOT WORTH THE HASSLE.

I had my annual system maintenance performed yesterday. The technicians were outstanding - professional, friendly, and very helpful. I'd been struggling the last several months with adjusting my burner, hot water heater/recirc, and air handler (x3) settings to try to maximize my system efficiency. When I mentioned this to the technicians, they both lit up and basically gave me the "let's figure this out" response. They checked all the possible adjustments, showed me how to make future changes, and took time to explain to me how each affected performance. They gave me solid recommendations to improve my energy efficiency overall, even outside of the HVAC system itself. I highly recommend Petro to anyone in the area. By far the best experience I've had with an oil delivery/heater maintenance company since I've lived in this area, and this is my fourth company with whom I've done business.
