A special Edit: So I just had a different business send someone out, and it turns out Link didn't set the burner up properly. They wanted to charge me 100+ bucks to send a guy out to fix their own screwed up install job. Link Mechanical, service so nice, they make you pay for it twice.
Had them over last year, they insisted I needed an entirely new burner when my old one had the igniter start to go. Now it's the next year, and their installed burner is failing. No warranty, no nothing, they want to send out a guy to do another diagnostic (full price), but this means either they messed up last year, and made me buy a new burner for nothing, or they failed to find the problems with their first diagnostic, and now want to bill me 100% for the second. Would not use again.
As a response to their post, I declined paying for another diagnostic since the last one seemingly missed these issue. I would prefer to give another company a chance, since I believe they both upsold a job, selling a full replacement I'm not sure I needed, and failed to find these issues.
Link installed a new furnace and AC unit in my condo in October. It works great! Guys were on time and explained everything when they were done. When I had the estimate done they asked me what I was looking for and didn't recommend the higher priced energy efficient model which was good since I only wanted to replace what I had.
We've used link in the past and they performed a good job. However, my current experience was very poor. On Saturday Nov 3, 2012, my furnace wasn't blowing hot air and I had a technician come on site. The technician was very professional, diagnosed it as a broken control board and blower motor. He didn't have the parts in the van but said the office would provide an estimate. Since I didn't hear from them, I called them on Monday afternoon and was told that they're busy but will get to it as soon as possible. Still no response by Thursday so I called again. On Friday, my wife called as she was frustrated. It's now 11 days after the original visit, 3 follow-up calls and no estimate. I'm going to start calling other companies but feel that Link took my money (over $300) for a diagnostic visit and won't complete the job.Update - Finally received an estimate after calling Link for the 4th and final time. Link's estimate was $1556. I felt that was high and rejected their offer. Called another company and they repaired the furnace in 3 days for under $700.
Had a really horrible experience with Link Mechanical.
They have a money back guarantee: even after the manufacturer determined they installed the hot water heater incorrectly they still charged me for coming out to look at the heater AND didn't repair it!!! Another plumber came and did
They first of all are quick to respond to a service call but very slow to respond when they break something and do it wrong. Long story short, our hot water boiling was experiencing issues, they tried to come fix it and couldn't. The next day our hot water heatwr over heated and the high pressure relief valve burst spilling hot water all over our basement. They would only refund us half our money. I've been trying for months to go through Better Business Bureau and they refuse to answer. I'm an engineer myself and am shocked. Just a warning.
By the way, the reason our hot water boiler overheated is because they didn't make sure the venting was properly configured when they installed the heater. Had someone else come look and tell us that!
We needed to replace our 30 year old boiler. We obtained three estimates and decided to go with Link. From the initial meeting with the sales person, who explained everything, no pressure sales which we greatly appreciated, to the completed installation we were happy with the process and the people, all professional and knowledgeable, who work for Link. I have used Link many times to service the furnace and a/c. The last service was for the a/c tune up. Corey, the technician, did such a great job the a/c unit looks brand new even though the a/c was installed 14 years ago. If you hire Link you will not be disappointed. Thank you, Corey and Link.
Had a motor fail on an older furnace and Links was able to find and get the part installed before the cold snap set in. Everyone involved was polite and professional. Have worked with Links for many years on the comfort plan... this is the 1st service I ever needed. That in itself speaks volumes..
Chris Link, the owner of Link Mechanical employs the most customer-focused hvac technicians supported with excellent home office staff. Ed Orzell, performed excellent preventative maintenance on our residential Amana central air system on March 16 in Newington. Ed answered my questions thoroughly. He put himself in the customer's shoes and explained all of the preventative maintenance performed in layman's terms. He arrived on time, respected my home by wearing shoe covers, was extremely focused on the job site and made me feel good that the work was done professionally with customer care. I strongly recommend Chris Link's Mechanical Service for your HVAC and Hot Water heater needs. Stan Marcinczyk Newington CT
Excellent service from diagnosis that the furnace had died....to getting the quotes and the actual installation in the middle of February with 2 feet of snow outside. They did an awesome job and did not once complain about the cold. Prices were also better than others as well. I would highly recommend them. Amanda
Mike was polite and knowledgeable. Within 35 minutes of my call to Link Mechanical, there was a technician at my home. I greatly appreciate the efforts by Link Mechanical to get my boiler up and running
