A CAUTIONARY TALE

I'll start by saying I am very pleased with the performance of my new, Mitsubishi ductless air-source heat pump system. On these 90+ degree days, it's keeping my living spaces cool without putting much of a dent in my net energy profile. I have solar installed and am still able to produce more electricity than I consume after having this system installed. It's very quiet, efficient, and powerful.

HOWEVER, THIS ISN'T A REVIEW OF MITSUBISHI.

I was very impressed with the initial booking process for my in-home consultation. The Save Home Heat team really have their act together when it comes to the sales end of the equation. The person who came to perform the assessment (Chris) was very helpful, informative and professional. He was able to recommend a system that turned out to be perfectly sized for my needs. While I was a bit shocked by the sticker price, bids from other, local suppliers suggested Save Home Heat's prices were in line with the market and at least reasonably competitive, but by no means inexpensive.

My disappointment came AFTER I committed to do business with Save Home Heat. First, the installers arrived a day earlier than scheduled and totally unannounced (though they had my phone number and could have given me some advanced warning). That was no big deal, but a bit of an inconvenience.

While I was originally told the job could be done in a day, this one took FOUR DAYS to complete, and it required a lot of improvisation and follow-up.

The electrician who performed the wiring was very good. He explained some of the accommodations he needed to make due to the limitations of my breaker panel, and I was able to comfortably approve his plans on the spot. He performed his work and cleaned up after himself.

The installers of the AC system itself, however, were a little bit of a s%^t show.

They were loud and profane.

They were tasked with trimming a piece of molding on my master bedroom wall and neglected the adage of "measure twice, cut once", which ended up with a 1-inch gap between the wall AC unit and the molding piece. They even marked the cut with a sharpie marker instead of a pencil, leaving a large, black line below the cut.

If you look at brochures for Mitsubishi, you'd think the materials used to cover the refrigerant lines would be something other than garden variety gutter material. Unfortunately, that's what Save Home Heat uses. While I can overlook the use of cheap materials here, the installation was very unprofessional.

The team was unable to create a straight line from the holes they drilled through my walls to the holes they cut through my deck. This resulted in the duct material (gutters) being out of alignment with my home siding, creating an obvious visual flaw.

The way they capped these gutters was also very "ghetto", using sheet metal screws and a hammer to put things into place. Just look at the pictures to get an idea of the workmanship here.

Beyond that, the team left cigarette butts and random screws and bits of discarded materials in my driveway.

In the end, I am happy with the performance of my system, but I am disappointed with the work and professionalism of the installation team.

This company is first class! Their people are professional, knowledgeable and prompt! Both the office staff and technicians are courteous, thorough and always find solutions. We recommend them highly.

With winter coming - I needed to service my furnace. SHH had pretty excellent online reviews - and I’m always down to support a local enterprise. Made an appointment - had to wait a bit but get the seasonal nature of these needs. Respectful, personable and responsive service from Dylan. Pictures with report were helpful. SHH is coming back soon to complete follow-up service on the blower which appears to never have been maintained. The ongoing story of the this house since I bought it.

Jeremy was able to find the problem with my boiler after my previous heating contractor failed to do so after 3 attempts! He was also very patient with answering all my questions and explaining everything he was doing.

The crew showed up on time and kept me updated with what was happening. Even though not 100% complete at the end of day 1, they left with me heat. First time I had heat in two weeks. Very happy.
I will need using them again.

We used them for a new furnace, air conditioner and water heater several years ago. The install was excellent and all of the equipment has functioned excellently. We have an annual maintenance agreement with them and it is a great service to keep our HVAC equipment operating efficiently. Highly recommend them for installs and repairs.

April, 2023 - We are still very satisfied with their services. The annual maintenance keeps our equipment in great working order. Their service techs are very knowledgeable and reliable.

The installers were on time, professional, and left the workspace neat and clean. The team lead communicated plans, progress, and status very well. An excellent experience.

I have an old Williams wall heater that I had issues with keeping the pilot light on. Byron from Save Home helped me get the pilot light going and gave me good pointers on how to keep my 40 year old heater running. We also discussed options if I wanted to replace my system down the road. Easy to work with. Highly recommended.

Our AC stopped working and they were able to send a technician same day and get us back up and running quickly during the summer heat. The technician was prompt, very professional and knowledgeable.
