Justin came out to service our fireplace and did a fantastic job! He was very informative, knowledgeable, and friendly. He explained what he was doing, offered an option of adding a blower when I shared how I use the heat from our fireplace (obvious now but we hadn’t thought of it!), and answered all of my and my husband’s questions with patience.

I also genuinely appreciate how kindly he treated our people-obsessed pup. Most vendors show a small annoyance but Justin was awesome in letting him sniff his hand and it really contributed to making the service zero stress for us.

    Thank you! Highly recommend!

(Photo isn’t anything special but Justin also did a great job painting the interior black - which is difficult to see due to the reflection.)

I can’t say enough good things about Green Bear Heating and Air! But before that here’s a bit of history: We had central AC installed in our home in 2017 by another company. The first year it worked ok but the air conditioned air seemed a bit too moist for what I was used to. Nonetheless, it was still able to cool the house for the most part. We had it serviced yearly by the same company that installed it and they never found anything “wrong” with it. The pandemic came and it was increasingly hard to schedule maintenance with the original install company. In 2021, I went with another company and they did not find anything majorly wrong with the AC but was told to call them back if the AC did not seem to be functioning well. That summer it seemed that the AC was not working quite as well as it should be. Moist air, running more often for shorter periods of time seemed wrong. But again it appeared to work(kind of). 2022 came and I was able to once again book with the original install company. This time during maintenance I was told that it was low on refrigerant. I found that quite odd because the system was only 5 years old, but I’m no AC tech. The tech recommended that more refrigerant be put into the system. So he charged the system with 1 lb 6 oz of refrigerant. Things started going down hill pretty rapidly that summer. The AC would run 5 minutes, then stop, run 5 minutes again then stop. The air inside did not seem very cool no matter how long it ran and was moist. I called the original install company again and again and was having difficulty getting in touch so I looked for someone else to service the AC and furnace. Thank goodness I went with Green Bear Heating and Air!!

First Justin arrived to service my fireplace. He is a fireplace wizard! It had not been properly serviced since we moved in and was in dire need. First it took the entire front off, cleaned and inspected everything then meticulously cleaned each fake ember and all of the fake logs. He vacuumed all the pet hair and dust out of every nook & cranny, cleaned the glass and painted the entire inside. Then he installed a blower. The fireplace looked amazing after he finished! I was ecstatic!

Then Nick arrived to service the AC and Furnace. He was very thorough and took his time to inspect and service both. I was so pleased that they both took care to not make a mess and insisted on removing their shoes prior to entering the house. Both worked diligently then Nick came in to talk to us. BTW Nick does not have a good poker face. I knew something was up when I looked at him. He then explained that our AC system had too much refrigerant and that we should speak to the installation company about repair. After being pressed he did say that it may wind up being more expensive to repair the system than to have the install company replace it. I asked him who I should speak to about having a new system installed with Green Bear. He told me Shaun could give me information on that. Shaun did that and we decided to have everything replaced AC and Heater(14 yrs).

Scott came out for a pre-inspection then a few days later he came out to replace the old heater and AC. Nick arrived shortly after Scott and they both went about removing the old heater and AC. After struggling to get the heater into the attic Scott came down & showed me the condensation pipe he removed from the unit in the attic. Other than a bit dusty it appeared pristine & unused, & did not have a bit of glue on it. Scott said it fell out when he went to remove it. It should have been glued. At that point after years of problems with the initial AC it was no surprise.

Scott & Nick did an amazing job & did not leave a mess behind. The house is now comfortable & quiet. No more moist air from the vents when the AC is on. We barely hear it running. The entire house is more comfortable. AND Shaun was able to schedule our fireplace, AC & heating service for next year!

Justin, Nick and Scott are very conscientious, and thorough in their work. Without a doubt, I recommend Green Bear Heating and Air!

Scott showed up on time, was very helpful and knowledgeable explaining everything that he needed to do for the service provider that day. I look forward to using Green Bear in the future for services that they can provide.

I had a great experience with Green Bear. They replaced my old furnace and A/C with a state-of-the-art heat pump and gas furnace. Shawn, the owner, explained all my different options and answered all my questions through a series of emails. Scott and Nick, who installed the system, were very professional and courteous. They answered all my questions (I ask a lot of questions!) Scott is meticulous, which I like. My new system is great. I would recommend Green Bear to anyone who asks, without reservation.

A few years ago they upgraded my gas heater to include a heat pump for heating/cooling, they were the only company that took the time to make sure everything would fit as I also wanted a electric filter and steam humidifier and space was tight. Since then I have also used them for annual inspections. In the winter my igniter broke (from the old heater) and while everyone was snowed in, the owner walked me through diagnosing the problem over the phone and showing me what part I needed to get. 10/10.

Justin was friendly and professional. One observation, Justin after completing his diagnostics needs to remember that he isn’t normally going to be explaining the problem to a fireplace professional and try to be as thorough and detailed as possible. Maybe, even probe the customer to make sure they understand. the problem and actions needed. Otherwise, everything went well but I am sure hoping the fireplace burner can be refurbished. Thanks!

    Hi Shawn,
I would give YOU ZERO STARS if that was available. UPDATE.....
On December 18, 2022, Shawn emailed me asking that I kindly "rethink" my review. As a home owner I rely on reviews so it is always best to get both sides. I do have all communications with Shawn that I will gladly share with anyone. After getting images of the furnace and the speculation that another company was going to get the bid Shawn provided three local businesses suggesting that I get bids from even one local business that was from Kirkland 30 miles yet Shawn's business is in Issaquah is less then 10 miles away.

My original email explained that per the by-laws the organization they HAD to have three written bids. Did he think someone would go to the highest bidder? Really and Shawn never indicated he was not interested UNTIL at his request I sent pictures of the furnace. There was a contact sticker on the furnace (very old contact sticker) with the local company's contact information. I am only guessing that this company has to be his competition. I have no dog in this race just trying to help out the lodge's members getting the three bids they need to get the furnace replaced.

Please please please contact me and I will share all of the communication that I have with Green Bear Heating & Air - owner Shawn. All exactly what was send and said.

If you are asking for a bid you will not get one. I asked for a non-profit organization for a bid their by-laws require three written bids. After I taking pictures of the furnace at his request and he asked why the organization was not going with a local company (even though I explained in my email the organization needed three bids. This is the response I received:

PER Shawn.... I don’t think we would be interested. If you usually go with the lowest bid, we’re not the company for you. We are a higher end, contractor and do a lot of big custom homes so I can guarantee we will be more than XXX company. Sorry. Good luck.

I totally understand they are busy and might have more jobs then they can handle and I picked Green Bear Heating due to the references written about them NEVER expecting "we are a higher end contractor...." go with someone else. I was doing this as a favor to the organization that I am only a member, so unprofessional of Shawn. Per Green Bear they are too good.

Shawn came out and gave a good appraisal of the situation with our malfunctioning electric furnace, including figuring out some interesting wiring done by a previous owner.

    Dennis Choi

Had my furnace repaired. Shawn was professional and thoroughly explained the diagnostics. He expertly answered all the questions I had and gave me several options for unit replacement.
