AC went out this morning, called Bower this morning, I was able to get a service call and repair equipment was readily available. Tech was friendly, courteous and professional. I will use again. Highly recommend.
Recently I came home from work to a cold house and realized my heat wasn't working. I called Bower Heating the next morning speaking with a very knowledgeable and helpful dispatcher. She asked if I had ice on my outdoor heat pump, which I did, and said to turn it off. She scheduled me for later that day . The technician came finding a defrost problem, called to check the parts which were in stock. He got them and had me heat within a 2 hour period. He also checked the units and suggested semiannual inspections which I signed up for. I would highly recommend Bower Heating to anyone!
This company has quality technicians and installers. Quick response to my service call when I was without heat during a cold snap. We live out of town and the technician came from an hour away to service the system. Quick, professional and not costly. Would definitely use their services again.
Here is my current experience with Bower Heating and Air. March of 2019 I was shopping for a new heat pump to replace my 15 year old Rheem. I decided to work through Home Depot and they dispatched Bower Heating and AC to do the estimate. I received an estimate for a single stage unit and a two stage unit. I decided to bite the bullet and go with the more efficient two stage rheem unit at the cost of $10K. The techs showed up as scheduled and promptly installed my new heat pump and air handler. I wish the review ended here but unfortunately it does not. After familiarizing myself with the new thermostat I noticed the new heat pump was only running in one stage. I checked the model numbers on the air handler and outdoor unit with the ones on my estimate and the rheem website. It turns out the wrong system was installed. I called Bower and at first they didn't seem to believe me. However after checking the part numbers they said they would have to come and remove the system and install the correct one. A week later and another day off of work for me to stay home the correct system was installed. Jump to December of 2019 and my new $10K heat pump is not producing any heat. I call Bower and they dispatch a tech that day. He tells me that the TXV valve is bad and needs to be replaced. Even though I'm still within the 1 year parts and labor period to my surprise I'm informed that my "NEW" heat pump was manufactured on 5/17 and I need to check with office to make sure I'm covered. So, my "NEW" heat pump was two years old when installed? I can understand inventory sitting in a warehouse for a while but two years? After following up with Bower they will honor 1 year parts and labor and replace the faulty valve. They needed to order one and to their credit they got it quickly. If only the story could end here! They cant do the work in the rain. So I took today off work to stay home but alas its raining. I called the office to reschedule but things don't look good. Tomorrow is forecast rain as well. Sunday is supposed to dry and sunny but they don't work weekends. Needless to say Monday and Tuesday are both forecast for rain. I guess Ill need to keep using my emergency heat and watch my electric meter spin itself off the wall. The service office said the only thing they could do for me when its raining is install a new replacement heat pump. I certainly hope that was meant as a joke to relieve the tension. Ill come back and update this review when my old new heat pump is finally repaired. Updated 12/16. Techs installed a new txv valve and I have heat again. I can say that their service dept did a good job. The part came in quickly and was replaced as soon as weather permitted. I'm still not happy with the unit being two years old on install and the fact that I needed a repair only eight months later. If I had not been under warranty it would have cost me $1000+. Two weeks later and no heat yet again. The "new" TXV valve is leaking and a high pressure sensor needs to be replaced. The parts were once again replaced and I had heat for several days until the outdoor unit froze. This time around it was the solid state board that controls the defrost cycle when the unit is in heat mode. Another part replaced and I have heat once more. I'm not sure why I have had so many problems with a brand new heat pump. The unit it replaced was 15 years old and had only required repair service once in its life. I'm still not pleased with the fact that the outdoor unit was two years old when it was installed. Could this have been a contributing factor to all the issues I have experienced? So far the system has been running trouble free for several weeks since the last repair. The service techs have been great but I hope I don't need them again. Update 2/27/20 Bower has offered to extend the labor coverage on my warranty an additional year. I'm glad to see they stand behind their equipment and service. This will go a long way to easing any concerns I have over any further potential problems. Hopefully my experience has just been an aberration.
Last spring we started adding a couple of rooms onto our home. I already knew who I wanted to do the heating/cooling system, Bower Heating & Air. Their reputation for honesty and professionalism is well known so I told my contractor that they would be doing that part. They installed a Heil gas furnace and cooling system. We had trouble with the old furnace blower making a lot of noise in the old part of the house so that was a big concern going in. You can't even tell this thing is running it is so quiet. We are very pleased. Also the heating and cooling are the perfect size for the structure no overheating or cooling. They also installed the gas line for our fire place. From start to finish very professional and efficient, would highly recommend them. They are the only ones we will ever use. Thanks Wayne and Crew!
The combination of Trane and Bower can't be beat. We were in a tough spot. No heat, no air conditioning. Our old system had completely failed. Bower to the rescue! Doug Andre, our Bower sales representative and the entire Bower team are knowledgeable, professional, and didn't try to oversell us. Doug guided us to the correct, right-sized replacement system for our Earthcraft home in Huddleston, Virginia. We upgraded to the technological improvements which have occurred over the last decade and our experience so far has been above and beyond our expectations. With HVAC, the brand you choose is important but competent installation is what will keep your system running long after the warranty ends. The Bower team had the old system removed and the new one installed in one day. We didn't think that was possible but the installers did the 'impossible' in a courteous, workmanlike manner according to the Trane install manual. The techs took the time to explain the operation of our new Trane web based thermostats with which we can now monitor the status of our system from anywhere in the world. Bower can, with our permission, also check operation and diagnostics from their office. The warranty is registered with Trane and we are good to go for many seasons in the future and know that Bower will always have our backs with their after the sale maintenance and service. They are simply the best in our 40 years of home ownership. You will not regret going with the Bower Team! John & Dawn McCloskey, Huddleston, VA.
Bowers Heating and Air very professional and helpful. Have to apply for a loan for heat in the winter, very unfortunate. Using an electric space heater.
Zeke helped us today and was on time, knowledgeable, professional and the visit was fast and effective. First time using Bower and we will continue. Awesome service. Thank you!
Bower H&AC have been managing our annual checks for the past 6 years. Recently our AC stopped working, we called Bower H&ACand they provided a Technician within 24hr. His name is Isreal. Upon his arrival he identified the problem as loss of coolant. It was a hot day and there were not many options, given Isreal was scheduled to make another service call that day. That meant we would need another service call to find the leakwhich would take a significant amount of time and a waiting period for the new appointment. Iserial worked with his supervisor and convinced that person that he should stay and fix the problem. He did that. We appreciated and commend the thoughtfulness and hard work of Isreal and the Bower H&AC staff.
