Because of our excellent experience with Honest AC/Plumbing, we will only call them for HVAC/Plumbing service, system repair or replacement. Employees treated us with respect, answered every question, gave us a secure feeling that the job would be well-done. In order to replace our dead HVAC system in the heat of our Texas summer when supply lines were disrupted, Honest AC searched the country and found a unit that fit our specifications, installed it within less than a week from our first call. Every time we have called for support, Honest AC responded quickly. It's important to know that Honest AC/Plumbing only advertises by word of mouth, so that they can keep their prices low and their employees fairly reimbursed, and you can tell that in addition to being experts, their employees are proud of the work they do. The company makes sure their customers are well-satisfied. As an example, I called them out to fix something that ended up being user (my) error, and they swiftly came, determined the issue and kindly helped me know what to do next time, and did not charge us. We are impressed. Honest AC/Plumbing made us very happy customers.

We had to replace an ancient water heater in an even more ancient house, and asked several plumbers for bids. AJ was detailed, blunt, and had creative solutions available from the beginning for stubborn leaks that had been a problem for years. The job overlapped the ice storm, and even with a power outage in the shop, AJ & Michelle kept up clear & timely communication.
Highly recommend Honest AC & Plumbing for all.

Since moving into a new home we have had a variety of things that needed fixing in a short amount of time. We found Honest Plumbing online and saw their good reviews and I can honestly say they live up to them. We've probably had Tom over for some plumbing related issue about 6 or 7 times at this point and every time he has been amazing. Not only is he professional, he is very personable, he makes sure you understand what he will be doing and answers any questions you may have. I've had so many people come in and out of my house for various issues and Tom has been the one I trust the most. Very grateful to the other reviewers for helping us find this company and we will continue to use them for any future maintenance or issues!

At a macro level, my HVAC system is once again producing cold air, I was able to get it fixed in a timely fashion, and I paid a fair price. Ultimately, we chose Honest Air Conditioning based on a referral from a friend, their reviews, and their competitive price. There is a lot to be unhappy about though.
Another company diagnosed that the problem with one of my Carrier residential HVAC systems was that its evaporator coil had developed a leak and that the refrigerant had vented out. Upon choosing Honest to remedy the problem, we were quite surprised to find out during the installation that an Ingersoll Rand (i.e. Trane / American Standard) coil was being installed instead of a Carrier coil as we had requested. I'd much prefer to have a system with components from a single vendor that are engineered to work together. This also means that we were comparing apples and oranges with regard to the different quotes that we had received. Unfortunately, I found out from my wife that Honest only made a verbal quote, so we didn't have anything in writing saying what we were purchasing.
When we discovered this discrepancy we immediately called our sales contact to inquire. One thing we wanted to understand was the warranty implications. The sales person said the Trane warranty is only for 5 years, and that it is not eligible for an extension since we weren't buying an entire Trane system. In comparison, Carrier coils have a 10 year warranty once registered. Also, in using a different coil, there are some technical differences. For example, I would have paid an extra $100 for a TXV instead of a FCCV, as our system originally had. All of this should have been disclosed and discussed up front.
Further, there are some aspects of the installation that are very unprofessional. Some of this relates to additional work performed during the same service call to rebuild the supply plenums for both of our HVAC systems as a mitigation for some slow mold growth that has occurred over the last 13 years.
- An electric wire (i.e. romex cable) running perpendicular to the HVAC equipment was relocated to act as a support for one of the plenum boxes. The new plenum box neither has anything solid underneath to hold it up nor does it have any strapping to support it from above. Hence, it is only being held up by the wire and connection to the adjacent piece of equipment. Using electric lines as supports for HVAC equipment is definitely inappropriate!
- In rebuilding one of the plenum boxes, some ducts connected to it were relocated. Instead of using the appropriate nylon strapping to support the ducts, one of the ducts is now resting on a sharp piece of metal strapping for the furnace flue. Not only could this cause damage the duct over time, it is cutting off the airflow in the duct by at least half.
- In sealing the plenum boxes to the adjacent HVAC equipment, the connections were properly taped and sealed with mastic on the visible edges. However, on the edges that are not easily visible, only tape was used. I'm quite leery about this as a previous vendor had done some work using only tape on all edges. The tape eventually failed and the entire duct became disconnected from the HVAC equipment resulting in a large amount of hot/cold air blowing into my attic.
- Tape and mastic were applied over portions of the service doors, including screws, for the evaporator coil cabinets. The evaporator coils are supposed to be accessible for periodic cleaning. So cleaning the coils now will involve removing all of the excess mastic and tape. (In the photos, you can see that I started to remove the excess mastic and tape from the service doors for the evaporator coil cabinets).
Lastly, I was not impressed with paper work provided by Honest. As mentioned above, the initial quote was only provided verbally. Also, upon completion of the work, it would have been nice if the model and serial number for the new equipment had been provided for trace-ability and warranty registration purposes.

We have used Honest Air Conditioning for the last few years for our annual maintenance. Jacob has been our service advisor and has been very professional and honest. For the last 3 or 4 years we had been putting a "band aid" on our system with the hopes of stretching it's expected life a little further (it was a 24 year old system). Jacob has been honest each time with giving me options. This year our a/c quit working on a Sunday morning, and Jacob came out same day. He again gave me my options of repairing or replacing, without any pressure. We decided it was time to replace the entire unit, and Jeremy and Brian were to our house the next day. They did an amazing job over the 6 hour or so install, and were happy to answer any questions I had throughout the process. I would happily recommend Honest A/C and Plumbing to anyone needing their services.

I hired Honest AC to perform an installation of a new HVAC system in July in a rental property. The install crew was great and I would give them 5 stars; they explained everything they did, and walked me through the system/maintenance, etc. I inquired with their office about the city of Austin rebate for installation of energy efficient HVAC system. I was told they would submit for the rebate and keep me updated. A month or so went by and no update, so I reached out to Raymond (did my estimate) and the person I was told was handling the rebate (Kacee) was actually not, and that it was not submitted. I was told again they would keep me updated, and still nothing. I reached out again and finally received an update that it was a delay on the city's end, but hopefully a reply would be heard soon. Again, no updates after this so I reached out and was told management would contact me with an update last week. Still nothing!! I've given up at this point, so if you are looking into the rebate, be prepared to stay on top of them.

Honest AC was amazing and the best price out of the 3 quotes I received on a new HVAC system. Ray was a great rep, and the big thing that sold me was that he was more than honest about what my home would actually need (one of the other quotes I received recommended many items that just wouldn't make sense in a place as small as mine). Fernando and Juan were amazing with communication, and went above and beyond to get everything done! The install was quick thanks to them, and I truly can't thank them enough for the tricky removal of the old system. There was a small issue with my gas line (the original builders of the complex weren't great), but again Fernando and Juan were on it and got Tom to come and solve the issue. I can't thank the team enough, and would definitely recommend them to anyone!

I can’t say enough good stuff about this company. I think they hire incredible and truly honest employees. About 4 years ago, we had just moved here and I had developed a cough. So, we thought we might need our vents cleaned. They came over to inspect and said our vents were actually clean and didn’t need to be serviced. Turns out, I was just embracing the Hill Country allergy season. Flash forward a few years and I’m 8 months pregnant and we are in the beginning stages of Texas summer…our AC stops working. We call and of course, it’s after hours. The technician, Alex, calls us back within 5 minutes of us requesting an appointment. He is extremely polite, helpful, down to earth and was able to get us some information to get our cold air back. Alex, this pregnant momma thanks you for your kindness and helpfulness! Truly a wonderful experience every time we’ve worked with this company!
