Installed my A/C unit and after a little over 2 years the DATS and Thermostat failed. They refused to put the manufactured warranty in and replace the thermostat for me. Terrible company never use them. They will leave you high and dry after install.

BRAND NEW HOUSE - Condenser is not working - Was told at 8 a.m. that someone would be out a little after 12:00. Been with out a/c since 2:00 a.m. Going on 15 hours now in Texas during the summer. If I was a developer, I would NEVER use this company. Terrible install, horrendous customer service, and absolutely the worst time evaluations I’ve ever been given, overall they’re just a sub par contractor that more than likely gets their contracts for being cheap on the bid. As always, you get what you pay for. I almost forgot, their phone assistant had the nerve to say any time after noon is considered afternoon. Really? What happened to evening and night? I wish I had the energy to argue with her but I’m so drained from the heat in this house, I could only muster up what it takes to write this. DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE.

Big Tex replaced my evap coil 3 years ago and it is leaking Freon. They said it will cost $1450.00 to replace it again. Why would I pay them for poor quality equipment that may or may not last 3 years. It is sad that that’s how they treat an original homeowner with Big Tex installed equipment. My house was built in 2011 and I expect the A/C to last a few more years. The technician and his helper showed up without any phone call as I sat down for dinner and I had to tell them to replace the screw they just left off the unit outside after they checked it for leaks. I am done with this poor quality and don’t care attitude. Big Tex was good to me until I needed some fair treatment.

I couldn't give this less than 1 star. Big tex installed unit 2 years ago. Has ceased working. Was told I would have a tech out at 12 today. It's 4 pm. 6 calls later they will call me when in route. Took the day off work to get stood up. Do not use this shady group. Call a real ac company. I will be contacting the BBB. And my house is over 100 degrees and have a disabled child.

This has to be the WORST HVAC company in the Houston area. We have had our home for 3 years and the A/C goes out every year like clockwork. It is either the compressor, the coils, or all the above.

Called and want to know the response? We only take service requests from in-warranty or new customers only.

Our system is 1 1/2 years old. Control panel went black no ac. We tried everything we could find on youtube to fix it. Repair guy showed up that evening and said it was an electrical problem. That we needed to get an electrician out asap. He couldn't touch it. Called our builder and he sent an electrician out...it's now 9pm. Nothing is wrong with the breaker or any of the electrical work....the AC has a short. Now when I call Big Tex I get a recording to call Monday at 8am... It's 99 degrees outside and because it's warranty work and they sent out an incompetant repairman, we will have no AC all weekend. Worst company ever and Plantation Homes hires them so what does that say about them.

If i could give them a zero i would. The emergency line isn’t treated as an emergency and me and my family had to be in a hot house the entire weekend. This is the fourth or fifth time in three years that the A/C has gone out. It’s ridiculous. Then we found out that they have a lock on it so only BIG TEX can be the ones to service the units. I am requesting today that they remove the lock so we can call someone else to service our units. We called Saturday and she didn’t call back until Sunday so what’s the point in having an emergency line. I will be reporting this company I’m sick of it.

**If I could, I would give these people ZERO STARS!

These people are a joke! It's been almost 3 weeks since our ac went out and we STILL can not get it fixed. When we first called, they told us they would send someone out to replace the motor but someone would call to schedule a date and time. Well, no one had called and nobody was home and they told me that the tech will only wait 20 mins for someone to get home. As if it was an inconvenience for them to wait but not one for me to drop what I was doing and rush home just to be told another part would have to be ordered.. Why they didn't do that when the first tech came out to check everything out, IDK! We had finally spoke to someone last week and we verbally confirmed for a tech to come out on Thursday and the lady had told us someone would be there and we would receive a call when the tech was heading our way. Thursday came and we were getting our things ready to leave out of town the next day so we didn't want to leave anywhere in case the tech came by a little before or after they said they would be there. THEY NEVER SHOWED UP!! No show no call!! So we left out of town and we called them Friday morning on our way out to see what had happened. Well they told us that someone can come out that same day (Friday) and go install what needed to be installed without us being there as long as the tech had access to the backyard. Well we left our dog outside for the weekend and he isn't too friendly with strangers so we scheduled ANOTHER appointment for Monday(yesterday). They called us to RESCHEDULE our appointment to Wednesday because THE 2ND PART WAS SCHEDULED TO ARRIVE IN THE EVENING ON MONDAY! First off, how was someone supposed to come on Friday if the part hadn't even been ordered? Needless to say, our ac is still out... And it seems like EVERY TIME we call, we speak to someone new and they obviously don't communicate anything to each other because they are just as clueless about the situation as the last person we spoke to.. I was going to wait until everything was complete to post a review but I think this needs to be shared like, NOW! And the only reason we are still dealing with them is because they are the ones who worked on the ac when the house was built and we have warranty with them.. I'd also like to add, when the techs go out, they do good work. It is just a headache to get them out. It really isn't their fault. They just get assigned these jobs by the office people, I'm assuming. The first tech to come out was not the one who came by to fix our stuff.

Worst company I have ever dealt with. Called Honeywell and they explained in detail all we need is to place a new cover on and it doesn't need to be professionally done.

Big tex will not even mail a new cover without charging $79.99

They are a bunch of crooks and I can't believe Lennar supports them. I will be calling Lennar now to issue a complaint.

Zero stars - No show
A/C stopped working 24 hrs ago, called to make an appointment Weds evening, first available was “after noon on Thursday” and wouldn’t be more specific.

No one called. No one showed up. Called four times to find out what is going on. To say the women answering the phones were disinterested is an understatement.

I get they are super busy and it’s near 100 every day and they are swamped. However, don’t tell me you are coming if you aren’t and don’t make an appointment you aren’t keeping.

When we called the fourth time, we asked if they were going to call to tell us they couldn’t make it. No response.

TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE - ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE

Also, for those of you who have a Highland Home, this is their heating and air conditioning contractor, so you’re stuck with them for warranty work. Good luck.
