Nearly ran off the road by one of their work vans. Not a good image for your business.
Great experience with this company. Incredibly responsive and easy to get ahold of when our AC stopped working. Our tech, Brenden, was friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. They saved me money by doing an easy fix instead of encouraging me to replace. Definitely will be my first choice for service in the future.
Excellent! They saved me thousands by fixing the broken refrigerant line. Other places would have pushed me to get a new HVAC. The a/c is only 9 years old so I am thrilled that they were able to fix it. This is where experience and skills really pay off - the tech really knows his stuff. I highly recommend.
We needed our ducts cleaned after a remodel. Duckworks came out on time, communicated well, did an excellent job, answered all of my questions, and followed up to make sure I was satisfied. I would definitely recommend!
This is the second home we have owned that we had Ductworks install Mitsubishi mini split in and both times we have been very pleased with the whole process. From the first phone call, the estimate process to the installation everyone we delt with were professional and kept us informed of what to expect. We would highly recommend them.
This is the second time we have used them and they were great to work with! they showed up on time and resolve the HVAC issue I had... I will continue to use them and recommend them.
We moved to a new home and discovered that our dual-zone forced air A/C left the lower level 5-10 degrees colder than the upper level, even with all lower level grates closed, the lower zone thermostat (an ancient one) did nothing at all, and one of the zone motor controllers emitted a constant buzzing sound. We contacted the company who had installed the furnace many years ago and were able to schedule a service call a few days out. Their technician showed up on time, was very personable, and immediately suggested that the buzzing zone controller motor was a potential fire hazard and he would make sure to remove it before he left. He then further inspected the system and determined that the motor for the lower zone wasn't properly closing the zone. He promised to send me an estimate the next business day for the proposed work. That fire hazard zone motor controller? After he'd spent about an hour diagnosing what he thought was the real problem told us the buzzing controller wasn't a fire hazard and we could continue to use the system. What the heck?!? After a couple of phone calls from the HVAC company to us to first, indicate why the estimate was being delayed and second, to get my email address to send the estimate to, I never heard from them. I called a couple of other HVAC companies in my area and Ductworks Heating & Air Conditioning was able to get a technician to my home in two days -- which happened to be the Saturday of a holiday weekend! The technician showed up on time and after only a few minutes, discovered that the dampers on the ducts leading to the upper level of my home were closed and the damper lever on the lower level ducts was stuck. He opened the upper level damper and loosened the stuck lever. He also noted that the lower level zone wasn't closing all the way. He gave us a couple of options and, in the end we chose to simply remove the dual zones and the ancient zone control system and go with one zone. He then replaced our thermostat with
They were professional and courteous. Showed up on time and did a great job. The guys were easy to work with and did a great job cleaning up.
The DuctWorks Heating (also operates as Practical Solutions company) is a partner/contractor with the Xcel HomeSmart. The HomeSmart sales person sold us a furnace, and the DuctWorks crew installed that furnace and a new thermostat in our townhouse on Dec 29, 2020. Between Dec 29, 2020 and Jan 27, 2021 the furnace broke multiple times: Dec 31, 2020 furnace stopped working Jan 2, 2021 furnace stopped working Jan 8, 2021 furnace stopped working Jan 12, 2021 a manager and the installation engineer from the DuctWorks came to my house to figure out what the problem with the furnace is. Jan 19, 2021 a technician came to do some additional installation work. Jan 23, 2021 the furnace stopped working. Jan 26, 2021 a crew from another company figured out what the problem was Jan 27, 2021 a Ductworks technician came to finish the work recommended by the installation engineer - something that he failed to complete on Jan 19, 2021. My furnace now has been working for 2 weeks. It took ONE MONTH, from Dec 29, 2020 to Jan 27, 2021, 8 visits, of the technicians/manager, multiple calls and emails. It also happened during cold Minnesota winter AND the COVID pandemic (after every visit of the technicians I had to disinfect and sanitize my home). Needless to say, I was and am extremely frustrated, annoyed, and angry with the whole ordeal. I wrote complaints to the Better Business Bureau and to the Attorney General's office. They investigated my complaints. Today I received a response from the HomeSmart via BBB. The letter written by James Dudley who sold me the furnace states: "Ms Yan is right to be frustrated however she has gotten to a point where no one wants to assist her further as she does not allow for conversation.... The Master Technician also noted Ms Yan was difficult and actually impossible to talk with." The letter implies this physical, emotional and psychological nightmare is actually my fault, as I was a difficult customer. Who would not be mad after a WHOLE
Deceptive Pricing Policies – Overcharged! The actual service by technician was good. When I called to schedule service on our whole house humidifier, I was told that there would be a $100 trip charge, labor charged at $65 per 30 minutes, plus any parts required. The technician, Joel, was friendly, professional and efficient, diagnosing and replacing a bad solenoid (a $25 Aprilaire part on Amazon) in less than 45 min. I figured we would be looking at a charge of $250 max, based on how they had described their pricing structure. When the invoice was calculated, it came to $405! I spoke with service manager Ryan who explained that the solenoid was replaced at a 'flat rate' fee of $305 plus the truck charge. When I asked how this could be based on the cost of the part and the time required to make the repair, he explained that the difference was due to their overhead for warehousing, benefits, etc. saying, "It's just how the business works..." I have no problem paying professionals for their service, but hate being taken advantage by this type of unscrupulous practice. In the end, Ryan agreed to waive the truck charge, but the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth… **UPDATE** - I did subsequently speak with JD Swenson, Service Manager, about this issue. He was receptive to my concerns about the service call and we came to a satisfactory resolution. I appreciate his response and his handling of the situation.
Helpful, friendly staff, quality work, and no hard-sell practices. I could not recommend Ductworks more highly.
Dave was my manager, he was awesome! He was the best company to work with building a house! Creative ideas and solutions if there were tricky things. Joe did an awesome job installing our system! He got it all into a little tiny mechanical room. I hope to work with them again! Would recommend to everyone
Tech was very knowledgeable and personable. Would use company again
Highly recommend Ductworks. They gave me several options for my furnace replacement, answered all my questions, no hard sell tactics - just open and honest communication so that I could make the right decisions. Installers actually showed up early, were professional and answered all of my questions - even the ones I asked twice lol. My family will sleep safely and warm this winter thanks to Ductworks. Truly appreciate you guys!
Great and responsive service when our AC failed. Especially appreciated based on the 98 heat index today! All went well.
Got cut off by an employee driving rudely and erratic. We never do business with them. Think about how sign on the side of your truck, and your driving says something about your character both of you and your business.
I would like to thank Duckworks (Larry) heating and cooling service for the information and service. He informed and showed me. Tips and tricks to keeping my furnace working. I appreciate the 5 start service. Thanks 😊
Wonderful service. Did a great job installing my furnace, and because I got their warranty, they were able to help me with a few problems and questions ive had since.
Larry R was both excellent in his work but also in his education that he taught me. He coached me on the best ways to take care of our appliances. He provided a full service and also very friendly.
