After a previous great experience with Tristian maintaining my ancient furnace, I decided that I needed to add AC to my home. At the same time update to a new furnace. Bill and the office staff were very honest that 1st call is not an authorized XCEL installer, and would not be able to process xcel rebates. Referred me to Summit (I found to have untrustworthy sales practices). I ended up going with Coffman & company (there were many problems with Coffmans install). I truly appreciate Bill's honest & forthright approach to running this company. If I had to do it over again, I think I would have 1st call do the job.
I cannot express how incredible Bill and his team are. They went absolutely above and beyond to help me out of a tricky situation with my AC. We purchased our home 4 months ago, and it came with an unnecessarily fancy and sophisticated Lennox HVAC. When our thermostat got damaged, the AC stopped working. Bill spent 10 hours at my home trying to solve the problem. I think most people would have given up, but he was persistent in helping a neighbor. These Lennox systems are so complicated it usually takes a specialist, so Bill and I certainly learned a lot along the way.. haha. After trying three different thermostats, we finally learned through consultants that my AC will ONLY talk to a specific thermostat, made by Lennox. Bill spent the next day driving all around Denver for me, trying to track down the much needed equipment - and finally found some very helpful people who gave us a deal! I’m happy to say Bill and his team did not give up on us, and bent over backwards when they didn’t have to. I would say don’t trust the negative reviews you see on here. He is the most compassionate and trustworthy contractor I’ve had the pleasure of working with!
We were so thankful to have Bill the owner come out very late yesterday to handle our A/C that had been out since Thursday. I begged and pleaded with other companies because we have a 5 month old who cannot sleep in the horrible heat. Both Diane (the dispatcher) and Bill were sympathetic and Bill extended his day an extra hour to help us fix our problem. He was quick, efficient, informative, and most of all, just a good honest man. We can’t thank this team enough for saving us and our son. Highly recommend.

In the real estate business, we need professional, dependable team players for our clients, and have found 1st Call the best when you need an HVAC solution quickly at a reasonable price. On the ball and on call when needed.
This is the only person I will use on boiler issues. Bill came out and assessed the situation very quickly determined what needed to be fixed. He helped me understand the ins and outs of the system and what needed to be done to maintain it. Every other company I called told me outrageous prices for what they thought was wrong, and they couldn't help me in a timely fashion. From end to end absolute professional and knowledgeable. This company is focused on doing whats right for the customer which I can appreciate. Bill is a no nonsense tell it like it is guy. I will gladly recommend them and use them again. I could not be happier with their work.
Both Bill and his assistant Cody installed an A/C system in my home after 38 years of suffering swamp cooler during summer months for many years. Those 2 were the best.
They did an excellent job on our ac service. Replaced a few parts and cleaned it out nicely. He explained everything he did and the price was very fair. We appreciate his honest, prompt, fair service
Extremely poor workmanship. We needed a new compressor for our A/C unit and had a good experience in the past with Bryan Pittinger. But Bryan doesn't work there anymore and I can see why. The owner, Bill, installed a new unit and when the inspector came to review his work, he said "it looks like someone jury rigged it". When he came back out to address the open items, he stuffed a bunch of boards and rocks under the new unit to level it, grumbling to my wife in the process. Not the kind of service you would get with Bryan. I implore you, find a more reputable company.

1st Call was great, I highly recommend them and will come back to them with any future work I need. Our furnace died on a Saturday during a big cold snap. We called 1st Call based on their high ratings on this and other sites. Diane was extremely nice and helpful and scheduled an appointment for Monday. Drew and Eric were on time for the appointment. They were extremely courteous and got right to work, explaining and showing in detail what they were doing as they diagnosed the problem. They gave us several options and outlined the price and ramifications of each one. When I asked for a "ballpark" price on installing a new system, Drew gave me a number that was less than half of what I had been expecting. After he called back to the company, he confirmed that same amount as their bid - no games, no run-around. We accepted the bid and they were able to come out the next day for the install - very important as the cold snap was still going and we were afraid our pipes would freeze. Drew said he wouldn't be able to be there as he was off that day but we'd been in good hands with one of the company's other installers. The next day, Drew and Eric showed up first thing. Drew explained that the other installer wasn't able to make it, so he changed his plans so we could still get our furnace installed on time - Thanks Drew! Again, he and Eric were super polite and informative as they installed the new system, an Amana high-efficiency furnace. They even moved the gas line to the furnace so it is now out of the way and not a hazard in our basement. The Amana furnace heated the house from 40 to 70 much faster than our previous system. We're extremely grateful to 1st Call for rescuing us from our furnace emergency and for not taking advantage of our predicament but acting with integrity and skill to quickly solve our problem at a far lower cost than we expected. We will continue to call them in the future when we have HVAC issues and highly recommend them!
I called 1st Call after my (now former) service company (rhymes with "mittleton") quoted me $500 for a $50 part and a one screw install, with a three day wait, after charging me $184 for a "trip" fee and a "diagnoses" fee. Although I replaced the Amazon-ordered part myself, the furnace was still giving an error code. I called Amana and they said they could not decipher the code for me for "liability reasons". They subsequently gave me a phone number of an authorized dealer to call - who was out of business! Thanks Amana! I then found 1st Call on the Amana website. After getting an appointment for the same day(!), the tech arrived, checked out the furnace and told me the code was not an error code, but an indication of fan speed and volume. Thanks Amana! 1st Call did not even charge me for the trip. They were courteous and explained how the system work. I am VERY happy and will call them the next time I need help.
Bill and his team, including the wonderful ladies who answered my call were everything I had hoped for when seeking someone out to fix my heating issue. Bill arrived same day and, near as I could tell, tried everything possible to revive my ancient heating system. He gave me an honest assessment on what it would take to fix the old furnace vs a new one. I opted for a new unit and expected a week or so to install. I was pleasantly shocked to hear him offer next day installation AND an apology for not being able to do it same day (his crews were already full of jobs that day). The gentlemen that installed my system were fantastic and had my house warm in no time. Best HVAC service I've had! Thank you Bill and 1st Call
Wonderful customer service! Bill came out and fixed the problem quickly and professionally. I appreciate the honest as he could have told us we needed a new water heater when it was really a pipe above the water heater. This saved us alot of money and prevented a possible flood in our basement. We will be going back to 1st Call for any future heating and cooling needs. Thank you for all your help.
I've had AC issues since I had a friend of a friend who works in the HVAC industry install a new compressor, etc two summers ago. The installer could not fix it after multiple tries. He gave up. I remembered 1st Call because Bill worked on another furnace for me a few years ago. I called 1st call and they have done everything under the sun to rectify a bad install. Bill and Tristan have gone above and beyond and I truly appreciate that. And... At a fair price (and I've paid unfair prices from other HVAC companies). I plan to install a tankless water heater and I will call Bill and 1st Call for that job in the near future.
I’ve waited for a week now trying to get an estimate from the technician that made their sales call. I have twice called the phone number listed on the card he gave me that goes directly to an answering service. While the person that works for this service is kind and apologetic they are apparently unable to transfer me to anyone that actually works for the company or the technition. I can’t get an answer as to wether or not this is a local answering service or national. All I can do is leave a message for someone to once again ignore me. I would prefer to work with a company that actually wants to provide customer service.
After an attempt by another heating company to persuade us to buy a new furnace due to a "possible" leak of carbon monoxide, we were very concerned because no definitive testing had been done. We were referred by our long-time general contractor of many years to a trusted heating specialist for a second opinion. Bill is the owner of 1st Call Heating and Air and came to our house late in the day and with special equipment he determined there was no carbon monoxide leak. He even called on Xcel Energy to come out and verify his findings, which they did. Our furnace was rather old, and we felt it was time to buy a new one, but not because of a suspected carbon monoxide leak. Bill gave us a fair price for the new furnace and installed it the next day. He was very professional and courteous, as well as speedy, and explained everything in a manner which made us very comfortable and satisfied. We highly recommend 1st Call for all your heating and air conditioning needs. It is good to know that there are still people out there with integrity.
Yet ANOTHER fantastic experience with 1st Call. They are consistently going above and beyond to keep our AC alive instead of trying to just place new units. ALWAYS responsive and flexible even when we aren't and so honest and affordable. AND they teach us what the issue is instead of just handing us a bill and leaving.
Hadn't thought about the furnace for a while with the early spring we've been having, but woke up to snow outside and a cold house Saturday morning. With 10 month old twins the urgency of an issue like this goes up a bit. I called 1st Call with the intent of having someone come out to see what the problem was but Bill was able to troubleshoot over the phone and explain exactly what I needed to do. In all it took longer for me to find the business card than to get the furnace back up and running for no charge and a better understanding of how things work. Bill is awesome!!!
