I had a very good experience with purchasing and installing a new AC unit from Lion. Customer service David and his technicians were very polite and professional. David always returned my calls asap. I did not compare prices but it was the professionalism that made my decision. Stress free is most important especially in a town like NYC.
Stay away from this place. Even if it’s the last option, don’t bother. They charge an above market rate just to show up. I’m convinced they send their worst repairmen out first so you are forced into having them come back again. They are impossible to get on the phone. When it comes to fees, they tell you one thing on the phone and invoice you something way higher. They are the least professional business I’ve ever dealt with. They left us without air conditioning for an entire summer due to their incompetence.
Terrible company. Read the 1 star reviews and stay clear of these crooks!! One set of technicians arrived and said they needed to order a part then a 2nd set of technicians arrive and say they don't know what the other technicians were talking about and say the unit needs to be dismantled and brought to their shop for inspection. All this on a unit that's not more than 3 years old.
Don't fall for their free 30 second inspection of the other units scam like my tenants did. They claim my other unit needs to be replaced although my tenants had never reported any heating or cooling problems with it. This is a fraudulent company with corrupt business practices. Save yourself the headache.
Because I previously used this company for many years for regular PTAC cleanings without a problem, I am amending my negative review and adding back some stars after a new interaction. Long story short is that we had a difference of opinion related to the work required on my PTAC, I felt I was being taken advantage of and overcharged, but after seeing my negative review, the manager got back in touch and resolved everything to my satisfaction.
Used Lion because my apartment building recommended three different AC repair contractors and Lion was the cheapest option. Big mistake. After a quick 2 minute initial inspection of my AC unit, a crew arrived the following week to repair it. It seemed as though the repair team was able to replace the fan and it worked normally again...until I tried turning off the AC after the crew left. The AC unit started smoking and wouldn't turn off. I had to manually unplug it and call Lion again to come fix their mistake. So a couple of days later another repair crew arrived and took the AC unit to their shop. Its been almost 2 weeks since the AC unit was taken and I still haven't heard anything about an ETA for it being fixed/returned. I've called multiple times over the last 2 weeks but just keep getting told someone will call me back later in the day (which they never do).
I don't leave reviews often but have been very frustrated in dealing with Lion. Like other reviewers, Lion doesn't seem to have a problem collecting credit card info and charging for faulty repairs. In summary, I'd highly recommend taking your business elsewhere.
Awful experience. Used this company (at the manufacturer's recommendation) to fix a broken PTAC. Missed their first appointment then came a week later. The four-week shop estimate turned into 6 weeks and I'm pretty sure that only happened because I started calling to check on the status. Less than two months later, it's dead again with the same problem. They are refusing to honor their 1-year warranty and won't even look at it again unless we pay for another service call. Requests to speak with a manager have been a series of not-returned calls.
AVOID AT ALL COST!!!!! Extremely unprofessional and overpriced service, and very bad customer service! Would never ever use them ever again!!! Stay away!!!!
I called them because one of my PTAC units is leaking water. The first appointment time was between 1PM to 5PM, and the technician came at 5:20PM without informing me they were running late. Fine. I understand sometimes job took longer than expected. The guy checked the AC, put some duct tape on and told me it should fix the problem. I was being very skeptical but fine. After running the AC for one night, the water was still leaking and was even more! So I had to call the company the next morning and asked for a follow up visit.
For the follow up visit, I specifically told the cstomer service to call me 30 mins prior to the technician appival. Guess what? Not only nobody called me, but the technician just came to my apartment and took my AC unit back to the shop without even telling me!!! The only way I found out was through a system generated email saying my work order was completed.
WTF???!!!
I had to call them again to find out what's going on and they said oh normally when we can't fix the problem we just take the unit back. Seriously???? You took my AC back to the shop without even telling me???? When asked how long it would take for them to find out the problem and fix it , customer service said 7-10 business days. Seriously??? You expect me to live without My AC in August 90+ degree NYC weather for two weeks? Even worse, when asked how much it would take roughly to fix it, customer service had no clue but mentioned that if I don't want the AC fixed due to the possible high cost estimate after they take the unit back, I have to pay $160 to get it delivered back to my apartment. Wow that's the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard in my life. Not only the company takes 4 times longer than other providers to fix the problem, but also they charge you $160 for getting nothing done. Note that I already paid $160+ for my first appointment and got nothing done!
Very bad service and unqualified staff. Technicians don't know what's wrong and how to fix but they charge the ridiculous high price for appointment Better off going to other companies.
This review is relating to my recent experience hiring Lion Enterprises to fix two broken PTAC units.
Maybe you see some positive reviews about this company but do not be fooled. This company changed their name from Lion Aire recently, so check out the reviews on that company too—there you will see a longer history of bad reviews. It is my sincere hope that this review spares customers from dealing with Lion Enterprises and I sympathize with others who have had similarly bad experiences with them.
When I first called Lion Enterprises (June 2017) I was given an appointment three days in the future and an appointment window of 12PM to 5PM. They stated that they would make an attempt to fix the units onsite but could not share a rate sheet or provide any cost estimate. This should have been my first red flag.
I had to take off work to be home for the full time window of 12-5pm, and despite my checking in with them periodically the day-of, their technicians did not arrive until 5:30PM-- outside of the specified window. They offered no apology about the lateness and instead made excuses about tough parking.
Their technicians arrived with no tools and had no plan of fixing my units onsite. One used my bathroom and tracked mud on my bathroom floor and left my toilet a mess.
Ultimately after 5 and a half hours of waiting they left with both of my units and refused to give me an ETA for fixing and returning them, as neither one of them was experienced enough to diagnose anything onsite. They do not send experienced technicians to your home.
I called to check in on my units after 3 days of them being at their shop and was advised that I should have been told it can take 7-10 days for an estimate. This was complete news to me. They complained to me that they are very busy this season.
I called on the 7th day and on the 10th day and spoke to various people in the office. Ultimately I got through to David, who referred to himself as the manager. He sympathized with my issues but ultimately wasn’t able to push the shop to focus on my units. He couldn’t deliver an ETA to me either.
I let it play out another two days and called again, and at this point the repair time was well outside of the 7-10 day promise. After again speaking with several members of the office who were unhelpful I got through to the manager David, who admitted to me that they have a lot of people there who don’t know what they are doing. I understand this is a seasonal business but I recommend working with a company who can handle the busy season better than Lion.
At this point it is mid July and the temperatures in New York are consistently in the 80s. I learned this morning from Lion Enterprises that after keeping my units in their shop for two weeks no one has even looked at them yet. As of this morning I continued to get inconsistent answers from the various members of the staff regarding any progress.
I ultimately had to send a truck to pick up the units myself, and without A/C for two weeks have to restart the repairs from square one. I recommend with every fiber of my being to avoid this company.
I tried repeatedly to get through to the owner of the company. I do believe that business owners generally have good intentions and I wanted to give the owner an opportunity to make things right. But the owner would not return my calls.
This company does not take responsibility for any errors on their part and they do not send anyone to your home who can fix the problem in short order. Therefore if you have just a minor problem, odds are they are going to walk off with your A/C for an unknown amount of time and turn all problems into big problems.
They send their little solicitation post cards advertising services they can't actually deliver. Then when you call and ask for the services they advertised, they give you nonsense about needing to take your ACs out and bring them to their factory for a week in order to install a wireless controller. then, when you asks them to explain how that can possibly be the case, they hang up on you. Customer service is clearly not something they even strive to be good at.
STAY AWAY! Called for a cleaning and instead, they caused a leakage in my unit. When they returned to repair the unit, it was agreed that there would be a $0 charge. Turns out, after they take your credit card, they just charge you whatever they want. IF YOU WANT HEADACHES WITH CREDIT CARD COMPANY, FEEL FREE TO USE THEM!! But I am never going back to them again!
Side Note: During their second visit, they rescheduled me for another time and made me wait 6 hours for them.
Terrible customer service, terrible services, and dishonest billing! STAY AWAY!
