SAM Mechanical Services LLC

SAM Mechanical was recommended at the beginning of a Natural Gas Conversion at my home. Having some HVAC knowledge, I knew the basics of the existing system (original steam radiators with a newer oil-fired furnace) as well as the work needed to convert to a natural gas - forced hot water set-up.

After placing a general inquiry, the owner called to arrange for a mutually convenient time to cover the work needed for the conversion.
During the walk-through, everything was explained in a clear and concise manner. Being relatively young, and a first time home owner, it was refreshing to talk to a contractor who truly cared about establishing a trusting relationship.

During the conversion, the office and field technicians were helpful in coordinating and scheduling the days they were on-site. I always felt ‘in the loop.’

In the end, I can’t say enough about the quality and demeanor of SAM Mechanical. They are an honest company that takes pride in their work.

TL;DR - professional, honest, and hardworking.

Our company was given a contract for services in June 2017 to perform preventative maintenance on our AC/Furnace two times per year (spring & fall). Sam Mechanical never showed up to perform the fall maintenance because it did not make their outlook reminder. When we contacted Sam Mechanical in May 2018 the service coordinator stated they would do both the spring and the fall (from previous year) and the price would remain the same for 2018 (a new contract would be written for 2019). That same week they came to perform the spring maintenance only. In October 2018 they were scheduled to perform our fall maintenance, but did not show up, but called the following day to reschedule. When they finally came out to perform the maintenance their technician could not open the window, so they had to reschedule again (to his defense we are in a mill building and the windows are heavy). After two weeks of minimal response to reschedule, I finally received an email with a new contract stating they were increasing our fee from $250 to $600 (even though we had a contract in place). I have since provided the original contract to the service coordinator, along with the email chain stating the contract would not be increased until 2019 and they needed to honor their current contract, but have not received a response.

I have been working with SAM Mechanical for the past few years and they just run a great shop. All the mechanics I've had on various projects are top notch and great people. It's hard to find guys that work as hard at their business as these guys do..

I've worked with a lot of sub-contractors on some of the largest projects in Boston but SAM is the best I've worked with.

Emergencies - not a problem.
Proposals - boom they get-em out.
Projects - they show up get it done and get out.
Problems - they have solved some thorny ones for me in harsh customer conditions

You can pay twice to another guy or once to SAM Mechanical.

If I can run my business half-as-good as they do I'll be a happy camper.

We just used SAM to fix our Geo Thermal system and Paul was great!! He was very knowledgeable, kind, and price quoted was what we paid. I will/would highly recommend them to anyone!

One Thursday night my baseboard heater pipe burst. Friday morning i called at least 5 different companies, one said they couldn't come until Tuesday. Then i called Sam mechanical, Steve called me back within a half hour and said he was also very busy but he would come right over and evaluate the situation and make sure i was ok until he could come back, that day & fix the problem. He was great! He came over & helped me & then he sent someone else back over within a hour. They did a great job at a very reasonable price. The next day he called back to make sure everything was ok. Great Job!!!!!

We contacted Sam Mechanical to convert our home over to natural gas. They made the process seamless and stress less. Thanks to all of the employee's form the office help to field tech's for this process. We would like to say thanks to the Service manager for going the extra mile and staying late (7PM)when Gas company was finishing their end. We would recommend Sam Mechanical for all your mechanical needs.

Long story here. If you are in a hurry, the five stars say it all. If you have the time, I needed a new boiler for my home. When spending any significant sum of money, I always make several calls. As I have an old home, it was a difficult install with wooden steps and a turn at the bottom. I tried to stay local. One area person wouldn't do it because of the weight of the unit and the rickety stairs. Another worked alone - it was too much for him. One never called me back, etc. It was getting frustrating. One day, I went across the street from where I work to pick up lunch, and in a moment of serendipity, there just happened to be a SAM truck parked there (they were working on a new hotel project). I am not sure why, but I jotted down the number and later called. SAM was well over an hour away, but the owner himself drove up to look things over. Cutting to the chase, SAM did the job. They propped the stairs, removed not one but two old boilers, and did the installation ALL IN ONE DAY (yes it was a long one, but they did it)! I cannot say enough about the professionalism and quality of work. I was no hotel or commercial job, but I felt like I was. Great, highly competent, and friendly people! If you are needing such work (small home job or large commercial job), I highly recommend SAM!

UPDATE: Almost a year later, we ran into a problem. When I called, SAM always did the right thing in getting back in touch, diagnosing the problem, and fixing it (it was a tricky one). Again, I highly recommend the company and its people! Still *****!

Not a great experience with this company. Appointment process was prompt and office staff seemed nice but plumber they sent to us seemed very inexperienced. I paid over $200 to be told that they couldn't repair a fixture in our bathtub and unclog a sink. There were also some discrepancies from what I was quoted prior to the appointment to what I was charged when the tech came over. When I brought this to their management staff they offered me a $20 refund and issued me a line of credit to do business with them again. While having another plumber look at a unrelated issue at my house yesterday he was able to fix what their plumber said couldn't be fixed. Would not use them again.
