    Staff were responsive and professional. Abe offered several options to me and was upfront and honest. He was courteous, respectful, and not high pressure. The installation team was right on time and were patient with my questions and made every effort to not leave any trace that they were there. I am pleased with my new Trane system so far and very satisfied with my experience with Star City Heating and Cooling.

    Brandon did a courtesy check of our furnace. He replaced the humidifier filter and explained to me what things to be watching for. Star City is now our heating and cooling service supplier. Brandon does good work! On 04/13/2023, three service guys showed up at 8am and took out the old and had the new furnace and A/C units installed by 2:30pm. Then everything was explained to us. We are pleased and living in comfort!

    We replaced the 30 year old furnace & a/c at our home with a Trane heat pump and furnace from Star City in mid-March 2023.

    Over a period of two months, we did extensive research and received nine quotations from Lincoln suppliers of all the major brands. I built a spreadsheet for comparison and compiled a list of questions about the products and the business and visited the business location of the four suppliers we were most interested in. Our priorities were product quality/reliability/reputation, warranty, retail company reliability/reputation and total out of pocket cost.

    Star City Heating & Cooling won the bid (and really, it wasn't even close) for reasons to follow.

    The salesperson (Abe) for Star City was by far the most knowledgable about the product of any that we considered. He thoroughly explained the benefits and drawbacks of heat pumps, giving us information that increased our comfort level with selecting a heat pump. Additionally, he was fluent in discussing Federal Energy Tax Credits (most other suppliers, even when pressed, seemed to want to avoid this topic and basically left us to figure it out on our own). Finally, Star City's pricing was by far the most bang for the buck.

    The install by Lance and Dalton went smoothly, including running the required PVC piping above a suspended ceiling and through our brick exterior. The installed package is very neat and compact; at a glance you can see it's truly a professional job. The installers were informative and respectful and left the furnace room in our basement cleaner than they found it. Before leaving, Dalton walked us through an overview of the installation, including operation of the new thermostat, making sure all of our questions were answered.

    Abe visited a few days later to look the install over and answer any questions we had after a few days of use. He provided us with information needed to receive the tax credits, as well as rebates from BHE and LES. He also presented us with the invoice which was to the penny what we had agreed upon.

    Installation was in mid-March. For the first week, daytime temps were in the 40's and 50's, falling into the 30's at night. The heat pump provided steady, quiet, comfortable heat, while running at about 40-65% of compressor capacity. The following week, nighttime temps dropped into the low 20's, causing the heat pump to ramp up to above 90% capacity and even to switch into "emergency" (gas) heat for a couple of hours each night. Whether running the heat pump or gas, our home stayed consistently, comfortably warm.

    During periods of running at higher capacity (90%+), the heat pump was producing what we considered to be excessive noise from the outside compressor. I contacted Star City, who dispatched their service tech quickly the same morning. He agreed the pump was excessively loud and sent a video of it running at high capacity to technicians at Trane. They quickly responded that the loudness was excessive and suggested a Warranty replacement of the unit. Within days, the replacement unit was installed and running smoothly and quietly. A potential problem and cause for dissatisfaction was, in the end, no problem at all.

    We haven't received utility bills that reflect any substantial amount of time with the new system. Simply viewing the metrics available with the smart thermostat, though and seeing the vast amounts of time that we were not consuming expensive natural gas, while the compressor was running at only the capacity required to satisfy the thermostat, tells me that we will be quite pleased with the impact on our utility bills.

    Finally, writing this in mid-April, we have only used the heat pump in heat mode, not cooling. I'm fully confident that we will be as pleased with its cooling as we are the heating capabilities. If not, Star City has demonstrated that they will stand behind their products and quickly correct any problems. At this point, we couldn't be more pleased with everyone at Star City and the Trane products.
