North Wind Heating & Air Conditioning

So disappointed. I called out to place my order for a new furnace/AC-equipment and the lady (dont know if was Carrie) cut-off my phone call... twice!
So terrible. Customer service is really important to us, and if the company does not have it... well, that's an indicator.
I'd recommend this as a first option?? No, definitely no.
Also, they don't quote professionally, just give you a card with the price and not share any details properly.

We purchased our 1970s home from the original owner and had no idea what work had been done on the home. Our AC went out 6 months into owning the home. I had a couple quotes come to my home but none of them were as straight forward and honest as Ed. He explained everything that we needed and didn’t need. He answered all of my questions in detail using the actual terminology so I could learn about my HVAC system. He was also extremely knowledgeable about current codes to make sure our home was safe. When I called to schedule, they scheduled the install for the same week. They were timely, worked efficiently, and I had a brand new air conditioner within 4 hours. Prior to the install, I figured out my furnace wasn’t working properly either. Ed and his team figured out it was a broken motor, Ed went and picked up the part, and installed it during the AC installation. It was the best service I have ever had from a company doing home repairs. I highly recommend this company. I will be referring all my friends and family to North Wind.

Used North Wind to replace my old furnace and air conditioner for my home. After receiving several quotes North Wind offered the best value for the price. I was very impressed with Ed's knowledge and no high pressure sale gimmicks. Ed came out to give me a quote. He spotted several issues that the other companies did not see and would have had to charge me extra such as the long run for the PVC air/vent pipes. The whole crew was very professional and removed old the old equipment. My old furnace was 80% efficient and the new one is 96% efficient. Hope this will help with the heating Bills.

Ed is Super knowledgeable, reliable and professional. Installed furnace and a/c at my old house and now a furnace at my new house. Have worked for other family members as well. Would recommend to everyone!

Update October 2021:

Our furnace stopped working while we were out of town. On a weekend. I received a notice from my smart thermostat that something was wrong.

It was a Saturday evening and I called North Wind for assistance. I left a message on their after hours answering system. Shortly thereafter, Carrie called me back and told me that Ed was going to head over to see what the problem was. Ed showed up and short while later and took care of the situation --- while we were out of town!

Great service from a great business! Thanks Carrie and Ed!

Orignal Review June 2020:

When it was time to replace both our central air condtioner & furnace I spoke to several friends for recommendations. I received three proposals, and one was from North Wind Heating & Air Conditioning.

When I contacted them I spoke with Carrie at the office. She was friendly and polite and set up a visit for the same day. Her husband Ed came out to do the estimate. (I understand that Carrie & Ed are married and are owners of the company.)

Later the same day Ed called me with his proposal. He answered quite a few of my questions and explained how he was taking a custom approach based on our particular situaiton.

Over the course of the next several days I called Carrie or Ed at least four times with more questions. Each time they happily answered them.

In all honesty, the three proposals were all very close in price. The deciding factor for me was the equipment that North Wind installs, as well as the comfortable feeling I had after meeting Ed. On top of that, my good friend who referred us to North Wind spoke very highly of the how his furnace/AC installtion went two years ago.

On the day of the install they arrived on time, got down to business, removed the old equipment, installed the new, and tested it in about 3.5 hours. The crew cleaned everything up like they'd never been here. Ed answered a few more of my questions, showed me how to use the new system. He also provided me rebate forms from our two utility companies and said that North Wind would take care of submitting them for the rebates. Ed also gave me details about the serial numbers and model numbers of our new equipment, and provided a handy document showing where to register the products on line.

Great experience with North Wind!

Quickly identified potential cause for intermittent compressor startup failure. Tested and replaced an electronic component and AC was up and running in no time.

I called the office on Thursday evening and they had someone to come check it out the following day. Ed confirmed my HVAC was dead. (not surprising as it was 30 years old). Ed explained what he/his team would do for the service, quoted me the cost of the Furnace/Compressor. He also told me things to watch out for when other estimates came in.
I was pretty convinced right then that he was the right person.
I called and booked w/ him that evening.
His guys showed up on time and went straight to work. Ed arrived (as promised) later and jumped right in to work. They even moved my compressor to the side of the house - where it made sense!
He charged exactly what he quoted and the area where him and his team worked was SPOTLESS. I was blown away - super clean and it looked great. He went over everything they did and highlighted anything I needed to care for the system (change filter every 3 months)
Also - he gave me a heads up that my ventilation ducts were disgusting (my words, he was much more professional) and gave me a referral. I now have a duct cleaning scheduled and a discount for the referral. I have already referred him to a friend of mine with a new house and a water heater issue.
Ed has my return business.
