No call, no showed me for an oil tank install quote. Was given a time frame by the receptionist, left work early to be there and not even a call to say they're running late or cancel the appointment. When I reached out, I got in touch with their answering service who confirmed the scheduled appointment and said they would be out.

I agree with other reviews. I have a home warranty and needed to replace my hot water heater. my warranty comany will pay for the water heater and installation but this company came back and said there are $1295 in "modifications" to install the hot water heater. They are finding a loop hole since they are probably aware that the home warranty doesn't cover modifications. Even the techs that came out understood where I was coming from. Why am I paying for a home warranty and then working with a company like this who is trying to find ways to cheat their customers? I actually feel bad for them that have resorted to behavior like this. I'm not new to home repairs and they are trying to make it seem like the charges are justified. I would encourage anyone reading this review to stay as far away from this company as possible.

Be carful when calling them. they are out to get people money, I call them with emergency services they came and gave a price way high and when I canceled the job the charged $99 for coming + the tech fees. If you call them you can forget about at least $160 without the job

Avoid this company. In the era of online reviews they truly don’t understand how important treating customers with respect is. It’s not a matter of getting the job done, it’s a matter of giving customers a cut-above experience. They performed the work we contracted them for, but when we were on vacation and 2000 miles from the credit card we needed to pay our balance with, the manager/owner Eric would not allow us the 5 days to get home and pay our balance, and instead threatened to send the workers back to undo what they had done. And then compared what we were asking of him (which is what every other company has ever done — allowed customers Reasonable time to pay) compared it to stealing a gallon of milk! He berated us and spoke with absolutely no gratefulness for the money he just made off us. I don’t know about you, but contractors are a dime a dozen and should work to earn our business and not be entitled. We have much more a/c and oil work we will never give this company because unfortunately they don’t understand the last impression you leave your customer with is all they’ll ever remember or spread. THEN our second floor a/c unit wasn’t working and we had to call ANOTHER company and found out that Dempsey’s technicians cut the wires erroneously to make it not work! Avoid them! Other companies can do the same work with kindness and respect and gratefulness for their customers. SHADY!

Shadiest contractor to date. Chris & Britney come out to assess our 12 year old hot water heater that needed to be replaced. They spent less than 15 minutes checking out the unit & most of that time was spent on snap chat. Our hot water tank is covered by American Home Shield; in addition we get an installment cost of $1,500. When we asked for an itemized receipt, the shadiness became evident. Chris refused to provided the assessment stating the cost had to do with pipes & making sure they were up to code. I then asked what kind of pipes, as a home owner I am very knowledg$500 for copper pipes, $500 for a $500 for gas line, & $500 for flute module after many attempts to get a itemized receipt we got the run around. The assessors left our home & the office representative Cindy could not email us this bill either. When asked about labor fees, we were told it was included. Still scratching our heads. Seems like they were trying to make up for the water heater cost x 3! Finally their solution was to not go with their services which is honestly a no brainer! They would not answer additional questions until we provided our credit card information. Buy or beware. No wonder they have the worse ratings! If you want to get robbed go with Dempsey Oil!

What I really think they are doing is up charging home warranty customers. I agree with the other reviewers. Dempsey is shady. Hard to get an itemization of what they are charging. I asked for an itemization for a new furnace. You shouldn’t have to ask for this. Wanted to know what was the total cost and breakdown including what was being covered by the home warranty. And what type of furnace they were installing. All they wanted to tell me was what my out of pocket cost would be which was thousands. How can they expect someone to pay for something if they don’t know what they are being charged? They need to be investigated .

Over priced Shady company.
Never call this company, asked them to check out why only a couple of radiators are getting warm in the house they sent someone who knew nothing about gas steam radiators promised they would send someone who knew more about that kind of system no call no show 3 times in a row.
When you call them they keep you on hold for 30 minutes hoping you will hang up.

Same as other reviewers here. Took my money - did not fix my problem. When I asked them to return - they said they didn't have any appointments - because they were taking money from new customers - while my problem still is not fixed, despite paying them multiple hundreds of dollars. Stay away.

I don't understand why some people were dissatisfied with Dempsey. The service tech who came to my house to fix my A/C was fast, efficient, pleasant, knowledgeable, and friendly. I couldn't have been happier.

Mike has the worst attitude and absolutely no customer service skills. Everyone he sends out has no idea what they’re there to do. Clearly Mike doesn’t communicate effectively either. Anyone have suggestions for another reputable oil company?
