Our furnace began running loudly, and fearing that it was on the verge of breaking, we gave Hurst a call after many recommendations. The tech showed up hours early, which I thought was great! But the second he saw our furnace, he said we were just going to have to replace it. He said because it’s old, it wouldn’t pass a safety inspection in order for him to replace the part that was making noise (he didn’t even run the furnace to make sure that’s actually where the noise was coming from; he just took my word for it.) After not touching a single thing, and telling me that he didn’t feel like doing a safety inspection because it’s too hard, then telling us it would be cheaper for us to replace the part ourselves- he charged us $85 and was on his way.
Fast forward two days, around midnight during a blizzard- our furnace stopped working. Our home is getting colder by the minute, the roads are too dangerous to take my children to my parents’ house for warmth, and it’s Christmas weekend. I would MAYBE be satisfied if I got my $85 back.
