I called for an emergency repair of our furnace, which suddenly stopped working. On the plus side, they were very responsive, showed up at the time they said they would, and fixed the problem the same day (a relatively minor issue). I found it inappropriate, however, that they did not inform me of the $95 diagnostic charge over the phone beforehand...the technician mentioned it after he arrived. Also, they did not apply that diagnostic fee to the cost of the repair, so even though they made only one trip out to both diagnose and repair the furnace, the $95 was added onto the repair bill. I felt a little shaken down--since with no heat in the house, I was not in a position to turn them down and shop around.
***update to the above: Pam left me a message saying she was sorry to hear that no one informed me of the diagnostic fee before they came out, and that they would send me a refund for the $95. Thanks Pam!
