Ben, his brother and nephew just completed an oil furnace change out and installation of a heat pump for me and I'm very pleased with the results.

From providing detailed options on replacing ancient oil furnace and central air unit to job completion Ben went above and beyond. He was patient and detailed when explaining all things HVAC, especially regarding options that would meet my needs.

I went with the Bosch IDS Heat Pump and Regal Oil Furnace. Installation took a day a half. Ben and crew arrived on time and we're thorough, detailed, and efficient. They even installed and programmed a new thermostat and took the time afterwards to walk me through the new equipment and provided guidance for filters and recommend maintenance.

We purchased a home in Hamden in August 2022 knowing the AC unit was 30 years old and totally dead. After a few weeks of using window units to get us through the end of the summer we committed to installing a new system for the following year. We hired Highwood to replace our existing duct work and install some new vents / returns in our home. They have been working very well and a previously ice cold room is now a comfy warm space. Ben and his team were courteous, punctual, and offered thoughtful answers to our many questions about keeping our home warm. We spoke with several people regarding this duct work, and the Highwood Team was the most responsive and helpful. We are glad that we chose to work with them.

Ben and his crew installed a new single head heat pump minisplit for us. It is currently handling all of our heating and cooling needs. Quote process was seamless and Ben had some good ideas for us like switching from a wall mounted unit to a floor mounted one. Install day was a breeze and it only took a few hours. We also got a few other quotes and Highwood was competitive. Would recommend and utilize Highwood again.

I was in need of a complete HVAC system for a condo that I purchased. It was a pretty straight forward installation and I had many options on whether to choose a gas powered system or an electric heat pump. Pulled out the rolodex and choose all the big players and scheduled appointments. If you know the process, you understand how the salesman show up and provide their pitch for what solution is the best. Each company offered variations on the best solution, and I was not sure who really had my best interest at heart. Then I ran across some reviews for Highwood Mechanical. The reviews were all excellent and centered around the company owner/salesman/installer/foreman/secretary; Ben. I say these titles in jest because Ben is totally engaged from the first phone call all the way until the last man completes the installation. Ben showed up for the initial consultation and I could tell he knew exactly what he was talking about and what I wanted (I had been through 5 other consultations, so I was pretty knowledgeable when he arrived). More importantly though, it was obvious to me that he was reliable, respectable and honest. When you are that way, you can tell when you meet a like-minded individual. I will wrap up the review by saying he wanted my business, and I wanted him to do the job. He gave me a price that proved he wanted the job and options to support any direction I wanted to go. He also gave solutions that the other guys didn’t even mention. He gave me a date (less than a week out) for installation and called when he said he would. He led his team out for installation and there were lots of workers (brother, nephews) who were clean, respectful, and knowledgeable. They completed the job quickly and I paid with a smile on my face because I received a fair price for a task that was very important to my well-being. A home with a great heating and cooling situation just makes life easier. I would hire Highwood Mechanical and Ben Uscilla 100 times over. Highwood Mechanical was very efficient and knowledgeable in their installation and recommendations. They were a very pleasant crew to work with and treated our basement space with care given the amount of demolition that had to occur. They were very patient in accommodating my requests and concerns.

Ben and his team did a fantastic job installing mini splits in our home and a concealed air handler in our attic. While a little tough to pin down (part of that was on me) Ben assured me the job would be done “before we needed it” and sure enough, he came through on his word. The entire 4 man crew was punctual, courteous, accommodating of my dog hanging around, and the workmanship was outstanding. I called for an emergency furnace repair, they were more than willing to take on a new client. They were very prompt (at the house within an hour or so), talked me through the repair and were very pleasant. Pricing was very fair for an emergency repair. Local guys that take pride in the work that they do.

Ben and his team were great from the start—kind, responsive, professional, trust-worthy. They replaced our furnace and installed an AC, and coordinated with an electrician to convert our house from 100 to 200 amp service. Made an intimidating process a pleasant one, and were able to get the work done before my wife had a baby. Highly recommend.
