I just want new customers to be informed and aware of the charges to get this company out to your house for an estimate.
In addition to what you pay to get fixed, you pay a "trip charge" of $45.00. In addition to the "Trip Charge" you ALSO PAY their hourly rate of $160.00 for however long it takes them to drive to your house and then, away from your house to their next destination.
This is what was explained to me today and yesterday when I spoke to two people from the company. This morning I called to make sure I understood the charging structure and after reviewing it and me telling the gentleman I had intended to write this review, he stated to me, well, "We have been in business here for the past 65 years.". So, I figure there are customers who do not mind these charges but I am writing this for the new ones who did not know, like me.
Marc came out and checked the CO2 reading in the crawl space where my hot water heater was. I also paid Marc to flush and maintain my tankless hot water heater. So, when the $360.00 bill came I questioned it. I also called today and spoke to a gentleman in the office........Breakdown of money: $45.00 "Trip Charge" and also, $160.00 "truck charge" as they carry tools on the truck.......Marc explained they charge for the drive from where the truck is before coming to my house and then they charge for travel from my house to their office or the next call. Their hourly rate is $160.00 to do the work so they charge that much for driving. $80.00 to drive to my house; $80.00 to drive away from my house and the $45.00 trip charge. So, according to that metric, the flushing to maintain my tankless hot water heater was about $155.00. I asked for a copy of my Invoice and was told it would be ready next Tuesday, March 28, 2023.

I was satisfied with my technician and his work; however, as others have mentioned, be forewarned of their questionable billing practices. Yesterday I paid a very hefty fee due to having to cover my tech’s drive time to my house. I understand perhaps adding on a fuel surcharge, but paying the full expensive hourly rate for driving (in addition to truck charge) seems like a reach. It’s apparently total luck of the draw in terms of where your tech is driving from. $400 for an hour and a half AC tune up with no issues found, yikes!

So, uh it's December 23rd, 1:30pm, -2 outside, and my daughter noticed cold blowing out of our furnace vents. I call Pasterkamp first: they're having their holiday party ... but, they'll send someone right over. In under an hour Jesse shows up, total professional, finds and diagnoses the problem, has the part, repairs it in short order, and my family has heat for the holidays.
You should give Pasterkamp a call if you ever need anything HVAC related. They're honest, professional, prompt, diligent and all round excellent.

This miserable outfit is the worst company I’ve ever dealt with.
They sold us and installed a Mitsubishi multi-splt HVAC for our Master area.
Their installation was faulty and during their second attempt at service they injected a refrigerant sealant which not only was unsuccessful in making the unit operable but rendered the unit completely unserviceable and voided the manufacturer’s warranty.
Pasterkamp’s response to our dilemma was as inattentive, incompetent and irresponsible as their installation and service has always been.
They have a complete disconnect from competent installation and a very casual and careless concern with whether their services have left their customer with even a functioning product. They simply don’t care or don’t have the capability to perform professionally.
After waiting for two weeks with no follow-up I followed Mitsubishi’s recommendation and contacted another dealer who confirmed the mess Pasterkamp left us with.
The difference between the new company and Pasterkamp was shocking.
After Controlling Systems conferred with Mitsubishi we purchased a new unit from them.
This experience left us with a $6,600.00 contribution to the land fill – thanks to Pasterkamp.
I’ve made demand on Pasterkamp for reimbursement.
To date their response is they are sure sorry but I created the problem they didn’t.
They excel in wormy avoidance of the responsibilities to the consumer necessary to conduct a first rate, reputable business.
Details and documentation of this mess can be found on the complaint I filed with the BBB against Pasterkamp.

Pasterkamp provided a competitive quote and did an excellent installation. Ken and Doug arrived on time and put down protection in the main floor hallway and basement stairs for the removal of our existing furnace and installation of our new furnace. I highly recommend them!

I would never use them again. Unit installed 4 years ago now not getting cool (never has gotten really cold after several visits to re-work duct work. THEN we call as our unit is not getting cold and they not only do not return the call, they say on their outgoing message that they will start charging you from the minute they start driving to your home. Never again.
As you can see, it took them 6 months to reply to this…and my biggest beef is that after 4 years the AC still does not get as cold as it should AND they begin to charge you from the minute they START TRAVELING to your home for a service call. A more palatable way to do this would just to charge a service call. You customer service is quite lacking.

I would highly recommend Pasterkamp. We had purchased a house that had been converted from electric heating to an outside boiler system. The boiler went out in the first major snow storm, and we were without heat and hot water. To install a standard furnace/ac unit was not a straightforward installation. But their team spent the time to come up with a solution. Their installation team was friendly and did a fantastic job. We now have heat and hot water and a standard system. I cannot say enough good things about the entire team.

We've worked with Pasterkamp twice now. The first time was for our boiler. We thought we'd need a new boiler, but the guy (who came immediately at the end of the day!) really knew what he was doing and changed a small part. This was two years ago and still going strong. More recently, they came right over and fixed or AC. Very prompt service, courteous and knowledgeable employees, reasonable prices. Strongly recommended!

I've owned two homes and quite a few rental properties over the last thirty years and worked with a number of HVAC companies that just didn’t meet my high expectations - and then I found Pasterkamp. They hire only the best, and it shows. Great technicians who have the answers to your problems, and great AC and furnace installations at a very fair price. And I love the story about their family business. When Mr. Pasterkamp opened his shop he told his workers that the company’s motto is “The Golden Rule” and for the last sixty years he and his sons have “treated people like they would want to be treated.” The world is a better place when you have businesses, and families, who keep that rule top-of-mind.
