Our AC went out just before the weekend. Mel's arranged for a tech to come out right away, providing me several time options to select from. The office was very responsive and the tech arrived ON TIME. My AC was fixed and works great. Sadly, I have an older unit that I will need to replaced in the coming years. Mel's will be my first choice, I know their work and trust them!

When I needed them for any emergency I may have had, they were always willing to help were there on time and fix the problem that I may have had. They have installed new air conditioners for me which were great quality and solved my problems. They are very reasonable and Shirley care about our well-being when it comes to heat and air. The price I was quoted was not the price I paid I had to deal with two different technicians the one that came out to do the repair went back out to his van at least 12 times it appeared he had no idea what he was doing it was a simple electric fan installation I had it done 10 years ago it took him about 45 minutes this one took damn near 2 hours I would not recommend this place in the future

My A/C stopped working yesterday morning...I made a call to Mel's Heating and Air and left a message. Elizabeth called me right back and I explained to her the situation. She sent Michael right away. It was amazing how quickly he came and checked my A/C on the roof...They are now checking my warranty now and getting back to me. I think Elizabeth and Michael were awesome..thank you Mel's!! Mel’s has a lot of great reviews from happy customers, but unfortunately my recent experience was not good. Last year they serviced my furnace and let me know that I would need to replace a component in the future. They took notes so they would be ready and could have the necessary part when I requested a follow up visit. This year I asked them to come make the noted repair. The serviceman was polite and courteous but let me know that he did not have the correct part and that they would need to get a special, discontinued part for my older unit that would cost $320 instead of the $150 original quote. Assuming he was correct, I agreed. After he replaced the part on his second visit I looked at the new part and noticed that it was a generic component that can easily be purchased for around $100. I contacted Mels’ twice regarding the issue and was eventually told that I could get a 10% discount, about $42. When I brought up the fact that the expensive part I was paying for wasn’t even used I was told that the extra costs were for the extra service call and a trip to Modesto for the generic part. In other words, I was charged almost $200 extra because they didn’t bring the correct part on their first visit. If you’re told that you will need to pay extra for a “special” part, beware.
