Grainger was one of my first “go-to’s” when I worked and that holds true in retirement. Today’s order was for one special machine screw. Online ordering, order status, order ready for pickup, curbside pick (or delivery): all in the app. How easy they have made the process! Thanks, G!!!
They had what I needed. Tried Tacoma Screw first, but they just didn’t have the parts. Grainger had them in stock. They were very busy and Neil came out and opened another terminal and helped me get the order entered then went and pulled it himself. Excellent customer service.
If you've never been to Grainger, only browsed their site online, you might have pictured this as a nice big superstore like Costco you could walk through and browse tools. NO, it's not that. It's a very tiny prison cell sized customer accessible area with a few items on the wall, no prices on anything, and the vast majority of items locked away in a warehouse.
It's a similar feeling to Tacoma Screw, where the huge majority of the nuts/bolts/screws/etc are all locked away, and nothing on the floor has pricing on it at all. Except Tacoma Screw has massively more stuff out in browsable areas. Grainger is aiming for the most idiotic customer-unfriendly experience, and I think they hit the bullseye.

After being acknowledged as I walked within door; I watched several other individuals get assistance that walked in after me.
They were the only store that had what I needed in stock. I will avoid them in the future.
