Maximum Heating and Air

We called a technician on Monday to come and look at our unit because it was not working. Upon arrival, the technician came and knocked on our door and introduced himself and I continued to explain what was going on. The whole time I was explaining, he kept answering his phone as if what I was trying to say wasn’t important. Keep in mind that it was just me and my neighbor, as my husband was getting on a plane in Atlanta. He went around to the unit and looked at it, he “hooked the gauge up” and said there was 0 Freon and for there to be NO FREON whatsoever that I must have a huge gaping hole in our coil. He said, “I would fix it, but the patch to the coil wouldn’t work with the hole in it being so big and if I put more Freon in it, it would just leak back out. I recommend changing out the coil, but with the age of the unit considered I would recommend buying a new unit.” He gave us prices, took my $65 and left. Now. Keep in mind. He didn’t look at the coil, didn’t take anything apart. He was just assuming with what his gauge said. We weren’t convinced and had another company come out. The other company established that there was 60% Freon left in our unit. He continued by finding a small pin hole in on the reversing valve. He then patched the small pin hole, ran a pressure test, found no leak on the coil, refilled with Freon... ultimately repairing our unit back to full service. My husband is home now and he was completely flabbergasted by the lack of professionalism and how the company tried to take advantage of his wife while he was out of town.

I would NOT recommend using this company! It may have been just a bad technician, but if so it’s still the company’s fault.
