Hands down the worst experience I have ever had with a company. I wish I could give them negative stars.
My parents AC unit broke and was blowing hot air throughout the house. My father, who can barely speak or read in English, called and asked for somebody to come out and take a look since I was not available to schedule something for them. Not only did Prairie Sons not mention that they charge $100 per hour for an estimate, the person they sent charged them for TWO hours of work and did not explain any of the paperwork he made my father sign. Again, my father can barely speak or read in English. So he had no idea what he was signing. More on this later.
The individual that came out charged them for TWO hours! This does not make any sense because when I spoke with my father he said he was only there for 20 minutes, so I am a little confused by their time management practices. That same person also recommended that my parents replace the unit, which did not actually need to be replaced. Later, they sent me a quote with parts to replace the outside AC unit. They quoted my parents at $3,400 for a trash unit. How do I know it is trash? Because I called multiple HVAC companies in the area and each one said they do not install 13 seer outside units.
When my parents received the invoice for $200 , I called to see why it was so expensive. The lady that picked up the phone was very rude when I began explaining the situation. She had no sympathy that my parents had no idea what they had gotten themselves into, and offered no help. I tried to explain to her that every other HVAC place that I called made sure I was aware that there was a fee associated with having somebody come out. Inspection fees typically ranged from $50-80, not $100, and not one person said they would be there for TWO hours inspecting the unit. Every single company said the inspection would take less than an hour. When I asked her why nobody told my father about the fees or the amount of time it would take, she said that nobody cares how much it costs when you need something replaced. People typically just want it done. To me, that is absurd because all the other companies that I contacted made sure I was aware of possible costs and time.
All in all, I will never recommend this company to anybody I know. I would rather learn the skills myself and do whatever is necessary before getting ripped off and lied to by this place.
We contacted Prairie Sons to look at a leak through our light fixture after a large rain. This was not something the plumber could address. Frank from Prairie Sons contacted a handyman and set it up for him to contact us.
Ugh. Prairie Sons has been beyond disappointing. Hired them (through Lowes) to install our new dishwasher a few weeks ago.
1) They waited over two weeks to even schedule the install from the day we bought the appliance from Lowes. They were supposed to contact us within 48 hours of the purchase.
2) They scheduled the install for a weekday, between 2 - 4 PM. Eric and I are both teachers - not sure how that's going to work. Luckily, I had a doctor appointment that day around 1:00, so I was able to be home.
3) Day of install, 4 pm... still no dishwasher. Eric kept calling, to hear that we were continually pushed back for other jobs. Dishwasher finally shows up at 6:00 that evening.
4) Guy installs the dishwasher, but neglects to run the appliance through a full cycle to ensure it's hooked up and draining properly. (He probably wanted to hurry up and go home because he didn',t get to our house until 6 - FREAKING - O'CLOCK AT NIGHT.)
5) 2 hours later, our kitchen floor is flooded. Water is failing to drain from the dishwasher and is spilling out the sides of the door. We are luckily able to stop the cycle, mop up the STANDING WATER in our kitchen before any serious water damage happens.
6) Call our install guy back to the house to check it out - he finds that a plug on the garbage disposal was not removed, so the dishwasher couldn't drain properly - blames Eric. Removes the plug, runs the dishwasher, no problems.
7) A few weeks later, we get a bill for over $100 for the "extra, after-hours service call." Prairie Sons refuses to cancel the invoice, since their install guys "just assume everything else in the plumbing is installed properly." (So... obviously that means they don't need to make sure the DISHWASHER DRAINS CORRECTLY, since the garbage disposal wasn't hooked up by them.)
Save your money and your time....find someone else!
Jeff came out to do a fall tune up on my furnace. He explained everything very thoroughly and was very kind and knowledgeable. I appreciated his honesty and his positive attitude!!!
Had them come out to fix leak in water heater. They ended up breaking it even more. I then received a bill for $126. After calling and inquiring about the bill they would only reduce to bill to $95. They were not friendly about it either. So I guess I paid these guys $95 to do more damage to the water heater. I could have done that myself for free. Needless to say, I will not be doing anymore business with them...
This place is a joke. The way this situation was handle was unprofessional & very rude. What a certain person led us to to believe was something she used to her advantage after she failed to do her job properly. As a business owner.... customer service is top priority! This company doesn't even deserve a rating. DO NOT TAKE THEIR word for anything. Companies like this give Christians a bad name. Go through anyone else but them!
Terrible experience with this organization. Called them multiple times about an AC issue I was having and each time I had to follow up. Also got quotes from other companies in the area that do HVAC and other companies had lower prices and better parts.
I would love to give less than zero stars. There is also not enough room to write up all the poor service, poor communication, and lies. This was to fix a HIGH dollar Trane system they installed. After a lightning strike, they were called back in to fix it. Plumbers TORE up our landscaping (and left it) replacing a propane line, we had to live through the summer with no A/C as they were always waiting for parts with the limited communication we had with them. A couple of the HVAC guys were ok, but their horrible boss would call them away on something much more important than a private homeowner repair. Now, we have a different Trane dealer out here trying to fix their messes; and they are extensive. There are great companies in and around SF, but this is not one of them. Horrible ownership/management no matter how they choose to respond to this post. Run. Run the other direction.

Had a Natural gas line installed for a future back up generator installation. Very responsive on where I wanted the line to be placed.
