B&G came out for a routine maintenance on our HVAC units and found some problems that could have turned into a larger problem if they hadn't been so thorough. Professional, fast, clean, and much attention to detail. Highly recommended!
We needed a quick fix on a very old A.C. unit. Tom had one of his guys out that afternoon to figure out what was really needed. When that was figured out, we were given all the information to decide if a new unit was needed or if a part would do. They came out the next day and finished the project, so we will all be sleeping comfortably tonight! I haven't received our bill yet, but they were upfront with the labor rate and cost of equipment needed.
My furnace went out and they came to my house after business hours to give me a free quote on replacing the furnace and adding an AC while they were at it. They were thousands less than the other quotes I had gotten WITHOUT the other companies adding an ac to the bid. Don’t expect quality to be lacking because of their low price either. They rearrange their schedule to get my furnace installed the very next morning. From start to finish these guys were awesome to work with.
After reading what appears to be bogus reviews on here related to texture work with a HVAC / Plumbing company I had to chuckle as they don't do texture, drywall work. That's a different trade than plumbing. Sounds as if some people are reviewing the wrong company or have a axe to grind with the company.
I will say that in the Summer of 2012 or 2013 I had them come out after another guy who'd been out two weeks before. I realized that guy didn't know his a** from a hole in the ground, tried to tell me (auto mechanic who's worked on many ac systems on cars) that it was common for the HVAC system to leak freon over time.
If that's ok then the EPA would be crawling over every A/C outfit out there and you'd hear about it more often. Since I was ticked and realized this guy ran his HVAC repair company out of his mother's flower shop by subway @ 10th & Cliff before it went out of business as well.
It was a Fri mid day, 85 degrees in the house. I called Burhenn & Gruenig. A tech called me back within a half hour. He came by tested the system gave me my options which the EVAP coil was leaking and it was 13 yrs old and over half the cost of a new unit so he had a brand new condenser & coil with a 10yr compressor warranty (the newer better compressors). I told him we'd just get the new but he couldn't do it till Mon. I offered a couple suggestions to see if we could get it sooner and it worked.
He vacuumed the system down recovering the freon. He then left to go get the new unit to drop off. I removed the old unit, the lineset, the wiring then wired it up per new code requirements permits and all (saved a $300 electrician bill) then pulled the old lines from the condenser to EVAP coil out. Installed new lines, set new condenser on pad leveling pad out.
Slept in our air conditioned camper overnight with the family. He arrived around 9 the next morning after spending half the night on calls. Hooked the connections for freon up, vacuumed the system, filled with freon, checked pressures, made sure air flow was proper in house as I'd always had some airflow concerns to far end of house. Everything went smoothly and here we are 7 years later and the unit is still running great knock on wood.
The Heater portion of the HVAC system is 20 yrs old and looks as new as the day we bought the house as I clean it one half of year then bring a company in to clean and run tests other half of year as I've learned how to check things, run tests and even replaced my own circuit board and a few other unnamed things related to the furnace.
Annual routine PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE is key to units lasting a long time. Now that my heater has lasted 20yrs my goal is to get to 25yrs then 30yrs as these systems aren't cheap take care of them with a good pleated air filter every 2 1/2 - 3 months and have them cleaned annually at least once and they go forever "knock on wood".
I will call Burhenn & Gruenig if I need service in the future as well.
We had a heat pump on our swimming pool that wasn't working and none of the local pool places would service it so we called Burhenn & Gruenig and asked them to take a look at it. They were able to fix the problem. We were very pleased with their service. We haven't received the bill yet but I believe they will be fair based on past experience.
