I'm conflicted because the first time we used Sears to install some windows, we had a great experience. However, this last interaction has somewhat sullied that positive experience and we may not return to this service when we eventually decide to replace the remainder of our windows. Our initial consultation and order was done in early March and the install occurred in early August. Understandable, we were willing to overlook this long wait because generally supply can be strained in the current environment. We're unsure if the following is standard or not but we didn't experience any similar issues when we went through them before and we did this time. So the contrast in experience was shocking. Overall we were not happy with the look of the installation and a few other minor issues. For our sliding glass door install there was approx a 1 1/4 inch gap between the top of the door and the frame. Our installers mentioned this was probably due to a string of measuring errors they had been encountering lately where windows they picked up were too large or too small for openings. This gap had to be filled with a foam insulation and then covered with caulk. Additionally there was a small rip in the screen itself. Then the window installed in our garage had a crack in the plastic casing.
Our home in Spokane is over 100 years old. It is an original Sears Craftsman home built with lath and plaster in 1914. It is not easy to work on and Sears Home Improvement installed beautiful new windows despite all the hardships in the home improvement industry due to Covid. Spokane is VERY COLD in the winters and VERY HOT in the summer, and we are very pleased with our purchase and the company itself. We have had many compliments from our neighbors as well as significantly lower heating costs this past winter. We expect to use our A/C much less this summer as well as our house is tight as a drum now thanks to these great windows. I would like to mention Melissa in Customer Service who worked tirelessly to see that our project was completed to our complete satisfaction, and Chris our installer who did an amazing job doing all the hard work installing and trimming them. The pictures speak for themselves, the windows are beautiful and functional. Thank you, JD Spokane, USA
Everything was completed, sales through installation, by courteous, professional personnel. Product works as expected! Final install missing expected cosmetic covers so I am disappointed with that aspect.
The project did not turn out like I thought it would or suggested, from the placement of the vents to how the unit looks outside.
* Chris, Mike and Anthony were extremely professional, courteous and respectful. The workmanship was nothing short of OUTSTANDING! Aaron (the PM) really helped smooth out the rough start to get this project. I'm excited abut the windows! It's like HD!!
Honestly cannot believe the level of incompetence regarding our service and installation, especially consider the premium of the cost. It's not a wonder why the company fell apart if they operate like this nationwide. Joshua Meyer from the Seattle area was "nice" in-person but ripped us off on the back end and ignored our many repeated attempts at contact. Unbelievable, but I'm sure he laughed all the way to the bank. Never doing business with Sears again... and I'm sure they won't be around much longer to do shoddy business with anyone else (hopefully).
Got three bids to replace 6 aluminium windows. Specs and rating were nearly identical. Sears won on price. Installation met my expectations. Team was professional and completed on time as promised. Windows look and perform great.
roofing done and looks great!
The worst. Took over 6 months. Wrong items were ordered. Some installed and they would not fix. Others were ordered and not delivered for months. Installation was full of errors. The marked up the walls with scratches and then said they dont' "paint". Great. Why hire them in the first place. NEVER use this group.
The sales process was long and drawn out. Corporate was unhappy with the contract (one page used 'Ted' instead of my given name) and I didn't finance anything. Scheduling took forever. I wouldn't use them (or any other Sears / Transform service) again. Install was fine once they got here.
We are extremely pleased with the great service and excellent workmanship we received from Sears Home Improvement. We would definitely go through them again.
Very pleased with the work and the installed windows. Love the windows!!! I
The final product is as expected, but the journey was extremely painful. Sad to say that we will not be using your company for any other projects. Here is why. 1. First signed on 4/20/19. We had to call about 20 times before we finally got a hold of someone to get the status. They said we had to sign a revised contract. I had to follow up to see if they were ever going to send. Finally they did and I returned that day. Days go by and I make half a dozen calls and finally get a hold of someone and they say that I need to return the revised contract. I said I did. They looked and said, oh, not that one but another one. I waited for the revised contract and it finally came after follow up calls. I returned the same day. No calls, so I called and called and finally got a hold of someone that told me they could not fulfill the contract because they under quoted. You just decided that you did not have to honor a signed contract. 2. Foolishly on our part, we decided to give your company another chance. They said the first guy made huge mistakes, but now we have the top guy to redo the quote. Since we already had everything picked out, we agreed. He re-quoted and it turned out to be $700 more. We agreed. They swore they would turn this around immediately and get it schedule. Wrong, no calls. We made the calls to find out there was a hold up in the contract, again! Days went by. Promises of call backs came, but it always to me calling the day after the promised call to get the answer. They finally got the approval after fixing the second guys mistakes. 3. Originally, we expected the install to be end of May until all the problem, but finally, we were told a quick turn around due to all these delays and expected the install to be middle of July. Further delays made it 3.5 months since we gave our first deposit. 4. Scheduled install. I called the day before and they said it was pushed back! Nobody notified me it was not going to take place nor asked if I was even
I'm very disappointment with Sears Home Improvement project. First of all, the initial salesman has yet to email my contract as he stated the date I initiated the commitment. Two different project coordinators show up to my home twice unprepared. On another occasion a project coordinator called me the day the installation was supposed to take place just to tell me that all of the parts were not available to complete the installment. I got bill on my credit report before I got the product installed. The central air conditioner was finally installed on 26 July 2019. The inspector has yet to show up to validate the completion of the work. It is now a week later. I will never recommend Sears Home Improvement to any of my relatives, neighbors, friends, or colleagues. The quality of service that was pitched to make the sales does not add up remotely close to the quality of service to implement the product to your home. Never again! Never ever again!
In mid-May, I contacted Home Advisors to get references for installing an HVAC system. I received quick connections to several and after having most come through, I was convinced to go with Sears, based upon their long-standing existence here. Today, after at least 8 different contact attempts, outreaches, emails, and even receiving a bill from SEARS, I received a call that the bid was wrong (though when I rechecked it for the item he said was missing and would cost $3k more for installation - it WAS actually included). I believe that the company is understaffed and poorly managed. I began this project in May so that I would be done by the end of June at the latest. The SIGNED CONTRACT says it would be done in 7-10 days (that was June 10th - over 10 days after it was to be committed to). I was called today JULY 11TH - with this new information that to complete the bidded job it would cost $3000 more. That is more than any of the other's bid by at least $1.5k As I understand contract law (I have my doctorate, but not in law), It is illegal to come back and add costs to a signed contract. In fact, it says that clearly in the contract. I am appalled and angry. And ultimately surprised at the dishonesty and lack of integrity of SEARS and its sub-contractors.
Extremely disappointing. Sears behaved like a fly-by-night outfit. Promised the world. Their Ukrainian installers (one was marginal in English, the other didn't speak English) arrived very late (after 4 pm), and didn't do all the work that I'd paid for. I contacted the office and was promised a refund for what wasn't done. I thought I'd never get my money back, but after a month and a half, I finally received my refund. I will never use Sears for anything else.
This process started back in Jan 2019. Through many delays and the huge snow Storm we had I just finally had the siding installed on Tuesday the 14th. Very, and I do mean very poor communication from Sears and the Management Team. Sent out 1 install Team and they were very rude and unprofessional. 2nd Team appears to have done a great job but spent time criticizing the folks that installed our new roof. The final install I was not even notified that they were coming out they just showed up. When the 1st install Team came out told me I had to cut down all my arborvitae trees so they could do the install. I did that, and still was almost a month before I finally was able to get my siding on which was paid in full. This was not typical Sears service, since they had already done 2 other sides of my house. This was totally unacceptable and took numerous calls on my part to follow up since no one was returning my calls. When you experience this, you now know why Sears is closing a lot of their brick and mortar stores. One very unhappy Customer here.
In the beginning office staff VERY rude including the Manager, order not place when they said it was, took to long. Did returned phone calls in a timely fashion, Waited 3 months AFTER kitchen was torn completely apart to (so no cook top) get counter tops installed. The only good part was Phil the installer he really tried his best to help.
Very little communication from Sears after initial sale. Project coordinators don't return phone calls. The only time we heard from Sears was when they wanted more money. Our initial excitement for our kitchen remodel quickly turned to frustration. I would not use Sears Home improvement again.
WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!! If you are thinking of using Sears remodel for your home (if they are still in business then) DON'T! Run Away!!!! If i could give one star, or better yet, a negative star- I would. Although our salesman was very nice when he came to the house, every aspect of the job after that was a nightmare. What was supposed to be a 2-day bathroom remodel that we signed papers for in august, took EIGHT MONTHS to finish and we just signed the paper tonight and had to give them the rest of the project money. We had to fight for a discount. We had to fight for every piece of information along the way about dates and times (that half the time they didn't show up for or were hours and hours late for). The bathroom itself looks nice, but after 8 months of a six person family using one bathroom..... its hard to be excited. Ava and Jestin were the two people we worked with the most and they were both the worst communicators I have ever encountered.... and they were supposed to be helping us. Long story short...... use anyone but sears.
