Louis was excellent. He took great care in fixing out toilet and bathroom and kitchen faucet. Never have to worry at all when you have Schoenwalder come to your house to repair plumbing issues. We have been using them for years. And Louis was such and nice person and excellent plumber. Please, next time you need repairs call Max Sr & Paul Schoenwalder. You can never go wrong with them.
They never returned my call. The plumbing issue I had has been fixed by another plumbing company. I reached out to you first, as you were the ones that installed the boiler several years ago.
I have been a customer of Schoenwalder for at least 20 years, and found them to be expensive but their work was always high quality. I recently had them in to clean/service my boiler. Their representative vacuumed some soot out of the boiler and vent pipe but was not able to get the boiler to start up. He easily spent more than an hour trying to get the boiler to run, not knowing that a thermostat that measures outside temperature and adjusts the circulating water temperature accordingly does not allow the boiler to run if the outside temperature is above 85 degrees (which it was). Schoenwalder originally installed this boiler and the outside temperature device, so if anyone should have known what the problem was, they should have. In addition to the quick vacuuming of soot, they came back and replaced a damper (price for this part on Amazon is $175.00) - a process that involved removing and replacing six screws. Took about 15 minute tops. Their total charge was $925.00. When I complained to them about the cost, they did not even respond. Needless to say, they will get no more of my business.
Excellent service at a reasonable price, and the plumber who showed up couldn't have been nicer. I'll get definitely be sticking with them.
Lou came over to install a new sink in my home, he was very professional and took such great care in my home not to make a mess. The office staff is amazing, and all around great experience. Good value great service!!!
I have known everyone at Schoenwalder's for years. They have helped us through many an instance. Hah ! Sometimes owning a home can be a bit difficult. They are all very knowledgeable, highly professional and very personable. Man, and you need a sense of humor too because if you don't laugh (well, you know the rest). I welcome these people into my home and I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a company that truly cares.
I used Max Sr. and Paul Schoenwalder for a boiler repair shortly after we bought our house a few years back. What appeared to be a fairly new boiler had some piping on the return side and near the cleanout that had significant rust and was leaking. Also the automatic water feeder was running constantly on cold days. As a new homeowner and not knowing much about steam boilers I wanted someone knowledgable to work on it. This company is local and kept coming up in my searches so I called and booked the appointment for service. The tech they sent out, (Lou I think) was very personable and seemed to know what he was doing. He informed me of the cost before he started work and included boiler service in the work order. The price for the work was high (at least I thought it was at the time) but I wanted it done right and was hoping to have found "my plumbing company" moving forward. After fixing the leaking pipes and "servicing" the boiler, Karl came out to inspect the work. Karl was also a very nice guy and so , I felt pretty good about the service until about a month later when my boiler wouldn't fire up. I called another company thinking it may have been an electrical issue and a problem with the thermostat but the tech came, took apart the boiler skin and showed me the hole in the top section of the boiler where it had cracked. He also showed me where water had been leaking on the burners and said that any tech worth his salt would have seen this during a service. All I could think of was how quick Lou was trying to get out of there after replacing the leaking pipes and stating he serviced the boiler. All in all it was a pretty expensive lesson. If you're a homeowner with steam heat, take time to educate yourself on the subject at the very least so you can ask the right questions when having your system serviced. I called for my Mom's house, her tenant who has a 2 year old did not have heat. This happened on a Sunday. I left a message and within a few minutes, I received a call from Paul. It was after 5pm already and he wasn't sure he would be able to make it, when I mentioned my 80 year old Mom and her tenant with a 2 year old, he came Sunday late evening to fix the problem. Thank you Paul !!!

I have used Schoenwalders since purchasing my home 20 years ago for everything from toilet repairs and leaky faucets to boiler installation and annual maintenance. Each member of the service team is not only personable, but highly skilled. I am always confident that the job was completed correctly. I recommend this firm for 100% of your plumbing needs.
August 2020 I converted from fuel oil to natural gas. I obtained a few proposals and decided to contract with Max Sr. & Paul Schoenwalder Plumbing Heating Air Conditioning. Everyone promises to do outstanding work, but you never really know the quality of the service you will receive until the project is completed. I could not be more satisfied with the professional quality installation that I received. Karl and Gayle are absolute pleasures to deal with, providing great communication throughout the project. And Stan, the lead plumber/installer, made a difficult job look easy. No one could have installed this equipment quicker or more neatly. Top notch, 100% professional. And Angelo and Anthony provided dependable support as required. Thank you to all. I called to get an estimate for some plumbing work related to kitchen reno but was told they were too busy with heat emergencies. Understandable.
I had a flood in my basement. Turned out to be my water heater. Schoenwalders came out right away and replaced it. They were prompt and gave a fair price. I would use them again in the future! I will be recommending them.
I did not feel it as fair that I had to pay for a part that they broke off while cleaning my boiler Was not expecting to have to pay an extra $375 I later came to find out that the piece did not have to be removed to be checked or cleaned
Great experience with this company. Work was done well, on time and on budget. Definitely would recommend for their work.
If you just found this company through a google search - be aware: Carl (perhaps one of the owners) will tell you one price and once they are done with the job, they will give charge you a totally different and higher amount. Unfortunately, this company does not stand for the price initially quoted. TOTALLY NOT RECOMMENDED. Do yourself a favor and find another company. To respond to the business reply: There was no damaged wire on the wall. I am not sure where are you getting your information from. This is the worst thing a business can do. To Lie.
Had TWO heat emergencies in one month! Both times Schoenwalder was able to get to me in a timely manner and quickly repair my furnace and gas space heater. Very satisfied with their work. Their charges are reasonable as well. No worries with Schoenwalder!
I work for a private corporation in Hillside and we needed a sump pump and a water heater for our office building asap. I went online and found Max Sr & Paul Schoenwalder Plumbing. I called so many places and I couldn't get a technician to come out. As soon as I called them, Gayle picked up the phone and scheduled an apt right away. I have now used Max Sr. & Paul Schoenwalder's service twice. First on a boiler whose pilot would not stay lit after multiple attempts. The tech came in assessed the situation and immediately addressed the issue along with installing a new thermostat. He was very professional, informative and pleasant. In a service industry where there is a lot of negative report, it is a good feeling to find dependable service. They came highly recommended and I was not disappointed. We used their service again for a plumbing leak and again, even though they had a lot of call due to flooding from the heavy rains, they fit us in their schedule for that day. On both issues, we have not had a problem since. Thanks again for your professional service.
