This review is not about the quality of the actual service this company provides. I wasn't able to get that far. I called in earlier on behalf of my 87-year old grandfather (who lives across the street) so we could get a quote for a new furnace, AC, hot water tank, and a thermostat with larger numbers. My grandpa asked me to call around and get the quotes because his age and hearing loss are an issue. I was on hold for about 10 minutes (which is fine; I know it gets busy) and when the receptionist picked up, she wouldn't speak or work with me because I'm not the homeowner. I explained that my grandfather is elderly and asked me to call and she told me to just "put him on the phone". I've spent 25 years in sales and customer service. I understand that people have off days and whatnot. I'm far from what you would consider a "karen" in a situation like this. But come on, man! This seems like it should be a no-brainer. I work with elderly clientele. There are a lot of times they go without doing repairs and updates to their homes because they don't know who to call, they get confused when the person talks too low or too fast or in terms they aren't familiar with. What if the homeowner had dementia? What if they were completely deaf or blind? You wouldn't work with a caregiver or family member just because the person on the deed wouldn't get on the phone. I'm sure this company does good quality work. I called them because of a referral given to me by family; not because I googled "HVAC near me". I called with high hopes but this interaction really put a damper on my day.
hello the experience with Hartford&Ratliff was very pleasant. the person who was sent to my home had great knowledge of the type of heating system in the house, and was very professional in all areas of the repairs. the whole experience, was a pleasant one. Thank You Very Much. Ron Good-Dayy !
I did not even go with this company but I was trying to set up an appointment during a home inspection that I already had. Unfortunately the home inspection team does not have any sewer techs available for that day. So I thought I could go with another company just to do a sewer line check. I called and was first told, the homeowner must call to get it scheduled. But me as the buyer, I am footing the bill and I just wanted someone to come out and take a look, tell me if it’s backed up or roots. Nothing special. I asked for prices they said if I owned the home it was $99. Since I was first time home buy, the price was $399. I don’t understand why there is a huge difference. I can’t just get a tech to visit during an existing inspection. And I also cannot get a specific time scheduled.. sorry but I don’t believe that is how this should work.
May 2020 Update - I needed Burton & Sons again but they're now owned by Thorton & Grooms.and they're NOT as customer friendly or price friendly as Burton's was. I'm still looking for a replacement company in June 2020. Older review - Once again I needed Burton & Sons, Inc to take care of a leak. This time it was under the kitchen sink and Mitchell B came in and fixed it. He was always respectful, courteous and friendly. He's determined to fix what needs fixing which at my old house isn't always easy. Mitchell B was fun to talk with and easy to be around. I highly recommend him and Burton & Sons, Inc.
Not Burton & Sons anymore! Its thorton and groomers. So of course they couldn't clear my clog and needed to water jet for $1,300, 1st time in 15yrs! They have an additional guy come with a camera automatically "included", his job is to push for water jetting. Mind you it was paper build up, my kids flushed paper towel, it happens every few years. There were no roots he said, and it was clearly seen on the camera at only 31 feet out no less..Roto-Rooter all over again except their water jetting is only $600. Granted they were incredibly nice, prompt and professional(otherwise it'd be 1 star) but they are no Burton's! FYI I was able to clear it myself renting an auger. Super dissapointed!!
This company is absolutely amazing! We've been doing business with them since at least the early 2000's and QUALITY is always the crowning achievement and end result of their work. I just got a sump pump I purchased put in by Todd, one of their exceptional plumbers, accompanied by his apprentice/trainee. He did an outstanding, high-quality job at a very reasonable rate! In fact, Todd treats your project and home as if it was his own and the end result shows it! Todd went the extra mile to see that we were completely satisfied. Shelly, their dispatcher, works some awesome "scheduling magic" as well to get the plumber you need on the job in a timely manner. (Kudos to Todd and Shelly for all you did to take care of us this time around!) Furthermore, if there are any problems or issues, Burton & Sons is always prompt to follow up. They go out of their way to try to accommodate your schedule and to ensure complete customer satisfaction. That's the way this company operates and the way they stand behind their work. You know, no matter what, they'll take care of you. I highly recommend Burton & Sons above all the competition! VERY SAD TO HEAR THAT BURTON & SONS SOLD OUT TO ANOTHER COMPANY (THORNTON & GROOMS... they actually call a plumbing compay that? Sounds like a men's clothier). T&G WILL NOT SERVICE MY AREA! I'LL MISS THE EXCEPTIONAL WORK FROM PLUMBERS LIKE TODD & STEVE! OH WELL!
Have relied on them for decades to care of my plumbing, furnace, water heater and a/c. With one exception, they always charge less than I anticipate. I googled the part--it really was ridiculously expensive for a humidifier part. Their office and repair staff are always pleasant and helpful. New ownership hasn't yet changed any of that.
Todd and his crew were great. Very clean, very respectful of our house...most importantly honest and transparent about the work, issues, options. Not the cheapest estimate, but not the highest either...but with working with several plumbers before, Burton and sons fixed our issues, to code, and gave us piece of mind. They never complained about our crawl-on-your-belly crawlspace, and didn't take shortcuts. We now have piece of mind regarding our home's plumbing and its fine workmanship. Thank you Todd!
We were very pleased with Mitchell and the service we received from Burton and Sons. The service was timely and he did a great job with the 2 projects at our house. I also appreciated the tips for maintenance he provided. I would recommend the company.
Burton & Sons was referred to me by a friend. I am very pleased with the service I received. I got awesome customer service on the phone from Shelly and by Jalen who fixed my furnace. Jalen took the time to explain what was wrong and didn’t try to sell me anything I didn’t need and was able to get my furnace repaired earlier than scheduled. Will definitely be using this company in the future.
We have been using Burton for years for plumbing and heating needs. All their techincians have been very knowledgeable, courteous and professional. Highly recommended
This time I had HVAC work done. (Though, technically it was re-plumbing of the central air evaporator drain whose pipe was clogged). But I’ve been a returning customer for sump pump work, and a sink/faucet install with plumbing. These guys are always friendly and professional and do great work. They’re also good at explaining the situation.
Service was great. They were done ahead of schedule. I've had them come out on New Years Eve, and during the week to attend to my 20+ year old furnace. We just bought a new furnace. Only negative was the pricing. To be sure, I believe the pricing was about market value. I could have gotten something similar for a little less - but I have a company that I could trust. But over the course of the process I actually received 3 different price points from 3 different people inside the company. Im happy they are busy and they are great people to work with but a bit more consistency there could make everyone rest a little easier. Update: Just had a maintenance check done - and some minor repair work on. Everything went very smoothly from scheduling to the actual work.
Always our go to for anything plumbing, heating or cooling in the house! They never fail to get it fixed and get it right the first time! Can't emphasis enough how they are our trusted "go to" folks to ensure our home functions at 110%! They have the most polite team that always communicates ETA's and give options for any corrective action--can't be beat!

I had Jalen from Burton's come to my home for my water tank, not only did he save me $1,300 by repairing my tank instead of trying to sell me a new one. Jalen was a very personable and nice young man, was prompt and knew his stuff. I highly recommend using Burton's!

Burton and Sons scheduled a tech to come out the same day I called and needed them. David came to my home, explained what he was doing. He took the time to answer all of my questions and he was very professional, and friendly. He finished the job thoroughly and quickly. My air was up and running in no time. I would definitely recommend Burton and Sons for any issues you may have. Professional, friendly, timely,thorough, and affordable.
I just had my water heater replaced and despite the situation, Burton & Sons took awesome care of us! The person that answered the phone was extremely knowledgeable and was able to give me an estimate for what was needed right over the phone. The repair person, Todd, came out the very next morning equipped with a new unit and all tools to fix the problem within 2 hours. I will definitely be using their plumbing services again and highly recommend them! Thank you for doing such a thorough job!
We have dealt with Burton n Sons for many years and they are always very knowledgeable, experienced, and thorough. Just had Khris here for a small gas leak and he really made sure we had piece of mind that all is safe now after he repaired the issue. We recommend them to ANYONE needing HVAC, Plumbing, or Gas work or repairs!
