Long story short we would not use Neil Kelly for any future remodeling. Our overall experience was not great. We were expecting much more based off of the reputation of the company and the price point.

We did a decent size addition and remodel to our small two bedroom ranch style home. We lived in the house through construction, so we knew it would be a stressful process. However, it did not go nearly as smoothly as we had hoped.

Neil Kelly seems to have a decent amount of turnover which affected our job negatively. During the start of our project we only had contact with one person who then left before construction started. We then had another person take over as our “project manager” who was very unresponsive. We were then given another project manager who was much better, but at that point a lot of information had apparently fallen through the cracks. We had many random people in and out because someone would leave halfway through a project and then someone new would have to take over. We were always grateful that someone was there working, but it didn’t end up saving much time since the new person wouldn’t know what they were doing and things would get installed incorrectly.

We were told that Neil Kelly had many back up subs, so if someone was sick they would have someone else take over to stay on schedule. This was not the case at all. Our job was months behind schedule with some small things that still need to be addressed.

Attention to detail was not good. Multiple things were installed incorrectly, including almost all of the flooring that didn’t get noticed until after base was installed and painted. All of it had to be torn out and re-installed. This processes cost us a lot of time and of course a lot of stress. Our furnace was unplugged and someone took our heat pump without our knowledge before construction started. Neil Kelly could never give us an answer on who did this. We were having a new system installed since we were increasing the square footage of our house. However, with all of the delays the new one wasn’t re-installed for 9 plus months. We had months with no heat in sub-freezing temperatures and no AC throughout the heat of the summer. Neil Kelly did provide us with portable AC units, which helped but was not ideal since they are not efficient and consistently tripped our breaker. Neil Kelly uses bend heating and cooling, someone that I would also never use again.

Overall, our experience was not a great and we wouldn’t recommend using them.

I have used Neil Kelly for 5 different projects between 2016 and 2023, both interior and exterior at my personal residence. I have always been 100% pleased with their work and their professionalism. I have not hesitated to recommend the company to others and will always call them first for any future needs.

We have used Neil Kelly twice. The first time was a little over ten years ago when they did a major project for us by adding onto our house to make an ADU for my Mom after my Dad passed. It was a massive job, and their craftsmanship and professionalism was topnotch. We were so very happy with the space they helped us provide for my Mom that, when we decided a year and a half ago that her bathroom needed a major upgrade, they were the first ones we called. They completely remodeled my Mom’s bathroom to give her a beautiful walk-in shower and make the bathroom space more functional for her. They also helped us with some much needed structural garage improvements and with rebuilding a gate. We couldn’t be happier with the quality of work we received, both times we’ve worked with them, as well as with their responsiveness to our needs, especially doing this second round of work that happened during the middle of covid. It was challenging to work around covid and all the obstacles it caused, but they made it happen. We highly recommend them !

Neil Kelly was recommended to us by a friend in Portland and we were not disappointed. We had purchased our new (older) house in November and the kitchen was cramped and inefficient. Chad Terry created a design which used the same space but shifting things so we ended up with at least twice the counter space and cupboards. The whole crew were professional, on-time, courteous and we couldn't be happier. We love our new kitchen - it turned out amazing! Only one thing now - we miss all of our new friends at Neil Kelly. They were constantly checking in with us at every stage. If you want a beautiful end product, within budget and on time - we would recommend Neil Kelly. Thank you!

Over a period of 3 years, while we were still living in our home, Neil Kelly Co. extensively remodeled/rewired/replumbed the basement, the bedrooms, the kitchen, the first floor bath, added a second floor bath, added heat to the second floor, added central a/c, added insulation, rebuilt and added to the back porch, etc. All with great attention to detail, professionally and courteously, while continually leaving everything clean and tidy. And the kitchen remodel earned Janel Campbell, Neil Kelly's designer, a professional designer's award. Marvelous.

We hired Neil Kelly to do a kitchen refresh last year, starting in March 2022. It involved replacing countertops, backsplash, faucet, sink, 4 light fixtures and adding a hood. It was quoted as a 2-3 week job. We had purchased all the materials in advance so there would be no delay in the process. It started well; taping off and demo went quickly. But we kept waiting for people to show up to do the work. Appointments were missed without a call. We waited for weeks sometimes for people to show up to work. A lot of that time, we had no working kitchen. This of course, caused extra stress and expenses for us. I called the office on occasion to see if someone was coming to work at the scheduled time. Once they were there, most of the work was done well. HOWEVER, some work was sub-par. When the contractor could not find a tile person, he installed it himself. He admitted he was ‘not a tile guy’ and the straight section is fine, especially after I asked another worker to replace the two tiles he cracked. The angled section looks quite amateurish. There is a toaster oven in front of it which helps.

The bigger problem was with the countertops. Originally, I had selected a fabricator/installer for the job. They were a company that had numerous great references, and I had seen their work at a friend’s house. The contractor would not work with them because he did not know them. He assured me that the people he chose were consummate professionals and would do an incredible job. I was already worried when they used thin cardboard for templates, rather than lasers. One was cut so badly that they had to use one of my remnants to re cut it. This prevented us from using it in our bath or returning it for credit. Two of the seams do not meet at the point the counters are joined. They rounded off the edges and said we would get used to it. They did give a small credit for those 2 mismatched seams. The workers were great, really tried hard, but this job was way out of their scope of work/ability. And that is the contractor’s fault; for choosing them. He also should have instructed them to center the openings for the sink and cooktop, he was designing the job. The faucet does not fully open because the sink is too far back. The contractor shopped with me for the faucet so he was aware of the style and the room it needed. The cooktop has a very large dead space behind it. It is of no use, and looks awkward. These are the things he should have addressed. And he was well aware of my dissatisfaction from the day they were installed.

After several months, the contractor quit working for Neil Kelly. No one contacted us about someone taking over the still uncompleted job. I called the office on several occasions with no response. Finally, another person came by and said all the right things, but I never saw him again.

There was a mistake made installing the faucet, breaking it, so I ordered another. I was instructed to order another but I was told the wrong kind. The third faucet sat in the garage for months.

This is where we took over. In the beginning of July, in a fit of frustration I hired a plumber to install the faucet. At last, a working faucet. Washing dishes in the laundry room was getting very old. We also installed all the light fixtures ourselves, with the help of a neighbor. We did the painting and installed the outlet covers and switch plates.

After much back and forth, we just paid the bill today (February 23, 2023). We did receive a ‘customer satisfaction credit’ but that really didn’t help with our frustration, disappointment and opinion of Neil Kelly. Beware.

When we bought our house, we knew the kitchen had to be gutted. I did all the work to clear the space and then John came in to build it back up. He fixed the structural issues with the floor, installed all the cabinets, doors, trim, and backsplash. And all the subcontractors and other trades he brought in on the project did quality work. I'm someone who likes to be very involved with any project on my house and John was great. He was experienced, friendly, and easy to work with. Would highly recommend John.

We bought a ranch house out in Tumalo two years ago and an entire storage area upstairs was essentially going to waste; Neil Kelly Bend proposed a beautiful addition, worked to perfect every single detail of our remodel, and has been a joy to work with (some days we hardly even know they're at the house). The value they have provided is top notch in every respect (finish work, electrical, buildout of shelving and closet space, ceiling/insulation, quite literally taking a storage space and making it something special that matches the design of the rest of the house). Of particular note has been Jim -- essentially our "foreman" and day to day presence at the jobsite. He has been masterful throughout the remodel and now that it's almost complete we are SO excited to "move back in." Worth every penny and we are really picky about details -- as it turns out, so is Neil Kelly. HIGHLY recommended for any interior remodel or expansion you may have in mind. Ask for Jim!!

The Neil Kelly team here in Bend did a great job with our massive addition/remodel project. Chad Terry was the design lead on the project and he did a wonderful job of getting to know our style and offering multiple choices in finishes that were both in our price range as well as beautiful. He made the whole process of planning very fun and exciting. Ray Sampson stuck with us through the whole 18 month process as the project manager, and Michelle Conklin was a spectacular client advocate for day to day concerns. When we hit the unavoidable bumpy issues that every project has, Matt White, the area manager, did an amazing job of helping us navigate through those.
This project included an addition of 800 square feet and a new 3 car garage, as well as a gut of the original house and with any project of this size, there are compromises. The fixed price contract was wonderful for us from a budget standpoint but it also led to some compromises around finishes and supplies such as windows. Overall, though, the value was excellent and we came in right on budget. Neil Kelly was very professional and I recommend them, knowing they will deliver an excellent project.

The Neil Kelly team was AWESOME! Working with them on our bonus room/studio conversion was a pleasure, and I am so grateful we chose this company to complete our project. From the very start, our designer Chad, met with us, listened to our ideas, and executed a more beautiful design than we had imagined. I’m so impressed with not only his expertise and professionalism, but with his understanding and thoughtfulness on our vision. He was respectful and his creative design experience, meticulous attention to detail, and his ability to understand a clients vision was extremely helpful in this complicated project. Moving forward, the Neil Kelly carpenters, Pete, Kevin, Jimmy, and Tim were extremely professional. Our job site was always clean and tidy and they took extra care to be respectful of our family and our personal space. Their attention to detail and craftsmanship was fantastic. Our project manager, Ray, and his assistant Michelle, were on top of everything since day 1. Their professionalism and genuine care for keeping this project on track and scheduled out to meet deadlines was very impressive. Their communication with the Neil Kelly team and with us, kept everyone on the same page. They met with the team and visited our job site on a regular basis. Their positive professional connection with supplemental companies such as electricians and plumbers, was necessary and beneficial in executing time lines and meeting deadlines. From the very start, we agreed on a budget and the Neil Kelly Team worked diligently to complete this project within that budget. I feel so fortunate that this is a company I can trust and I would definitely recommend the Neil Kelly Team for any job, large or small.
