I DO NOT RECOMMEND anyone using this company!! My Home Warranty Company sent them out for a service call. In 10 minutes of being on site said it was the compressor (I knew that) my problem with them is they wanted to charge me for 12 pounds of Freon on a Unit if u pull up the tech specs and look on the plate stamped on the unit it clearly says 96oz max compactly. .

I would give zero stars if possible. We are still dealing with the damages this company did to our furnace over a week ago. Subzero (Elvia and Kevin) came to fix a cooling coil on our furnace through the HMS warranty. However, after they removed the coil, they showed me a crack in the heat exchanger (which resides under the coil in the furnace). Upon inspection after they left, this crack was obviously caused by a flat head screwdriver that had been hammered to cause or accentuate the crack. We've had two different companies confirm that this was not a normal crack and was caused by someone on purpose.

Subzero also said that we'd have to have our entire furnace replaced because the heat exchanger was not under warranty. This is untrue. A simple check on the serial number shows that the heat exchanger is in fact covered and we don't need to have the entire furnace replaced.

Subzero already cashed the check for the cooling coil replacement but has NOT DONE THE WORK and is refusing to refund the money. We've been off work for two days and on phone calls dealing with the company and with HMS warranty company. Elvia and Kevin came out again while my husband was here and argued with him over the damages. Kevin said that he had not been here during the initial visit and that he'd have to speak with the technician that did the work. Since my husband was not here during the first visit, he wasn't sure if this was the case. However, this was not true as it was in fact Kevin that was here doing the initial work.

My husband just called today to get back in touch and after answering, someone said "It's the a**hole about the heat exchanger" and proceeded to hang up on him.

We have seen numerous bad reviews about this company on other sites. When told about all the bad reviews, Elvia told us to check out the good reviews on Yelp. Funny enough, when we visited Yelp, one of the five good reviews are from her and all of the four really bad reviews are hidden.

Stay FAR FAR AWAY from this company. They are very untruthful and unprofessional people.

EDIT - After weeks of arguing with HMS about this awful, corrupt company, we still haven't received our money back for the work they DID NOT DO. I'm not sure why HMS still uses this company seeing how awful they treat their customers continually. They are scam artists. Period.

They showed up when they said they would and they fixed what they said they would fix. There turned out to be a wiring issue, but it wasn't because of anything that they did. An electrician came and found out there was a bad circuit leading to the gas and thermostat. Also they ordered replacement parts and repaired things that other reputable HVAC dealers told me were unfixable.

I contacted them through Cinch Home Warranty.

Th e worst experience I've ever had!! These guys were assigned to me by a Home Warranty company and took 5 days to even call me. When they did finally call I told them I had a friend coming to look at it since they took so long and asked who I'd need to call to cancel the repair if he was able to fix it. They gave me the wrong phone number to call and showed up anyway. When I told them I had canceled they said they never got a message from me and that I would be charged anyway. Im now being billed by my home Warranty company for $125 for absolutely nothing. They do not return phone calls or treat you like a person, they are very rude ad total scam artists. I can tell by the very poor comments and reviews here that This is a common theme for them and my next call will be to my Home Warranty to ask why they have a contract with such an awful untrustworthy company and then to my lawyer because im not paying $125 for absolutely nothing.

I have been without air conditioner since April 17th when they came to get the so-called one part. I called them on May 3rd she was very rude to me I'll call you when I get your parts. The parts weren't even ordered until May 1st after I call my homeowner's warranty to find out what was going on. It's 88 degrees in my house and I have a dog inside that I cannot take with me to work. the owner called me May 3rd that evening and let me know they would be here today May 4th from 2 to 6 p.m. we are at 6:30 she has not responded to my phone calls nor my text messages. I'm contacting the attorney general and my private attorney! I have called my HMS home warranty and I have requested a new service provider. Yes I will have to pay another hundred dollar deductible. But I will be taking Subzero LLC to small claims court in North Carolina. Is there anyone else who would like to get in on this lawsuit?

Great company! Our furnace went out during a snow storm and they were able to fix it within 24 hours. They were extremely knowledgeable about our unit and they gave us tips for maintaining the furnace during extreme temperatures. I highly recommend you contact this company. Very professional as well.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. THE LADY WHO ANSWERS THE PHONE CALLED ME THE B-WORD. I think 1 star is even too much. I used them because my home warranty company gave me their company. My heater was out for the second time in two weeks. The first time it was because of a bad compressor that was then replaced. When they came out they found that the heat strips were broken. They replaced them one afternoon and I didnt return home until late that night so I went straight to bed. The next morning I woke up to a 57 degree house and when I went and looked at my thermostat the screen was completely blank. I checked to see if there was maybe a dead battery, but the thermostat had no battery and it was wired up to power and to the outside unit. I went out and checked all the circuit breakers and they were all fine. The outside heating unit was not running at all. So I called my home warranty company and voiced my concerns about SubZero having messed something up when they replaced my heat strips. They told me to call SubZero because they would have to be the ones to get someone out there to fix it. I called SubZero before they opened and left a message. I then called them about 20 minutes after they opened because I was hoping to get heat back that same day. I told the lady what had happened, but she said that it was obviously an electrical issue and that I needed to file a new claim with my warranty to get an electrician to come out. I told her it seemed highly unlikely that what had happened was just a coincidence. As I continued to let her know that I though SubZero had done something wrong and needed to fix it, she got noticeably more angry. After arguing for a few minutes, she called me a "stupid b*****" and hung up on me. To top things off she called my warranty company and told them that they would no longer be servicing my address and that I was being argumentative/threatening towards them. Because of that they were hesitant to send anyone else out to my house. I told my warranty company what happened and they then said that they would send someone out because it sounded like she was in the wrong. My thing is, why would they keep using that company if that is how their employees act? So unproffesional.

more of the same as you've read out here already. 17 year old central air system, Home Warranty company sent them out to look at why the upstairs unit was not turning on. They resolved that (bad switch and capacitor) but followed up saying that there was a leak in the evaporator coil ($450 or thereabouts) and it needs to be replaced. Goes on to say that they cannot replace the evaporator coil without replacing the condenser coil ($3300!!!) as well. Home Warranty company said ok fine, but we are only going to pay for the evaporator since that is broken.

I call the Home Warranty company, put in another claim to get a 2nd opinion. The second company said that 1. we replace just evaporator coils all the time and 2. the Freon was low - he topped it off and added a sealant. Done.

So while Sub Zero's assessment was correct (leak in the coil) - they could have presented some options instead of $4000 coil replacements on a 17 year old system.

There are better options out there folks - do your homework!!

IF I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS, I would do that. The tech came out, cut off the unit, and left. The company has not followed up to discuss what needs to be done to the unit although they came out almost three hours ago. They havent even followed up with the home warranty company with their diagnosis. The company will show up but will not follow up in a timely manner. Customer Service is key to running a good business. I will be requesting my home warranty company to take this contractor off the list. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

I would not use Sub Zero. No communication or customer service with this company. We actually ended up switching companies and paying more to have our heat fix than use them. Never can get in touch with them and I felt like I was an inconvenience when I called, even though I was the one freezing with no heat!! We ended up with them due to our Home Warranty company, glad we could switch to a better company to have our new unit installed!
